1  Happy New Year! in Needlework: Completed Projects by LuthienBlack on: January 04, 2014 09:05:49 PM
I am so terrible at posting on Craftster - to be fair, I didn't make much last year to be worth posting. But I think my resolution for 2014 ought to be getting more involved with this board!

Anyway, to celebrate the new year I decided to embroider something - it's only small, but I love it Smiley

I put it up as a free pattern on my blog if you're interested in whipping one up  Wink

2  Swedish Flower in Needlework: Completed Projects by LuthienBlack on: January 30, 2013 03:35:50 PM

I designed this flower to feature Hallandssom embroidery, which is a Swedish style of lattice embroidery. It was so much fun to stitch, and I like how cheery it is! I also made a version into a biscornu for a swap:

As always, there is more info on my blog: http://needleandcloth.wordpress.com/2013/01/30/taking-the-plunge/

3  Ombre embroidery sampler in Needlework: Completed Projects by LuthienBlack on: January 28, 2013 02:27:26 PM
I can't believe how long it is since I've posted on Craftster! I really should do something about that ...

Anyway, I finished a piece the other day that I'm really happy with, and I just wanted to post it here. It's an ombre-effect embroidery sampler.

Here's a basic guide to the stitches I used:

There's also a full tutorial over on my blog (http://needleandcloth.wordpress.com/2013/01/28/ombre-embroidery-sampler-tutorial/) if anyone's interested  Smiley

4  First post - party dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by LuthienBlack on: November 07, 2009 12:55:07 AM
I saw this fabric on sale in a craft store and absolutely fell in love with it. My first time sewing with a silky fabric, but it took it carefully and it all seemed to work out fine. The pattern is Tash from the Clothesline In the Beginning pattern pack.

5  Some of my projects in Needlework: Completed Projects by LuthienBlack on: November 03, 2009 05:21:38 PM
Being a newbie here, I thought I'd share some of the things I've done so far.

This is the first piece of non-cross stitch embroidery I did. It's from a design in the A-Z of Crewel Embroidery, with a few modifications. The colours are a bit brighter than they appear in the photo. It's intended to be a handbag, but I haven't got around to sewing it up yet.

The only piece of Brazilian work I've done. I'm a bad finisher with projects - this has been sitting in my embroidery bag for ages, I haven't even washed the blue lines out!

I know I said it about the duck in my other post, but I think actually this is my favourite piece - it just turned out so much better than I expected! It's a threadpainted rose, based on a design from an Inspirations magazine. I made it for an ex-colleague who was getting married.

6  Baby romper in Needlework: Completed Projects by LuthienBlack on: November 02, 2009 05:53:19 PM

I made this for an ex-teacher's first baby - it's possibly my favourite thing I've stitched Smiley

It's a blanket pattern originally, but I sized it down and stitched it with stranded cotton rather than crewel wool. It's mainly done in long and short stitch.

ETA photo.
