3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Mobius Cowl on: June 08, 2012 04:14:36 PM
So I whipped this baby up in 2 nights (only because I kept taking breaks!) from a pattern in Knit Simple. Working the foundation row was probably the hardest part, but I really like the colorway and I like how large it is, so I can double up or just leave it hang!

Here it is

C&C always welcome!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Mittens! on: June 06, 2012 06:42:08 PM
So I made these as a Christmas gift for my bff who lived in Chicago. (and it took me until now to post this!) I thought to myself, she'll need some mitten-y goodness. And they're the first pair I've ever made. So I just followed a pattern from the book One Skein Wonders, and used some Impeccable worsted self striping. I told her they could quite possibly be the ugliest mittens ever, but she loved them! Fortunately (and unfortunately for the mittens) she moved back to Florida, where we just don't where mittens. Ever. But needless to say, I can cross that off my list of things to attempt to knit!

(sorry for the cruddy pic, my camera was down @ the time so I only had the webcam!)
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / French Knot Alphabet on: May 04, 2012 07:19:04 PM
So earlier this year in my Graphic Design class, we  had to create physical (non-digital) fonts. One of mine was made out of french knots. Talk about a long and tedious process. But now I'm a master at french knots!

I also ended up putting it in my senior show last month, because I spent so much time on it, I couldn't NOT display it! Smiley
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My Senior Show on: May 04, 2012 07:12:47 PM
I'm posting this here because it was for my senior show for the visual arts program at my school. I took the idea of the hanging hemp light....and ran with it. My concept was the idea of home, and the silent role of the home maker. It was called 'making home'. I wanted to explore the different aspects of home, the fragility, the warmth, the memories, and the accumulation of stuff. About $200 worth of hemp, 3 bottles of Modge Podge, 4 months, and countless nights of wrapping balloons, it has come and gone. I just got around to uploading pics because I was busy graduating (finally, after 8 years!) and being unemployed.  Smiley So now, on to the photos.

I'm very glad it's over. There are some embroidery pieces in there as well, but I wasn't as pleased with those, although everyone else seemed to like them. I'm so relieved to have done it, seen it through, and all the research that went into it really broadened my horizons. What an experience!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First In the Round Project on: December 01, 2011 09:33:38 AM
So I finally tackled knitting on circulars! It's waaaay easier than I thought (at least this cowl was) and I'm more likely to attempt a bit more difficult project now seeing that keeping stitches straight wasn't terribly hard!

It was actually for the fiber swap that I was just in, and she received so I thought I'd post. I'm really quite proud of the simple lacy pattern!
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Nothing too Fancy...Minnie Mouse on: July 13, 2011 11:15:26 AM
Just wanted to whip something up for my BFF who lives in Chicago, but is kinda homesick for Florida. I was sending her a little package with some Florida things she loves, Disney being one of them. So now here's.....

Minnie! Done all in satin stitch with a backstitch outline on the bow with 3 strands of floss. It's on a small 3 inch hoop so it only took about an hour to whip up (with a snack break or two!)
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / It's a flower on: June 30, 2011 03:38:32 PM
So my partner in the OTT Alice swap received. She said she loved the scene in the cartoon Disney Alice with all the flowers, so I gave her one of the flowers!

I added violet felt for the face and worked in a mixture of satin stitch and backstitch. It's probably the longest I've spent on an embroidery project (which isn't saying much because I haven't done that many!) but it took about 3 1/2 hours of stitching. Seemed like longer because I work so much I just had to stitch whenever I had free time and wasn't running after my son!
10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Squid! on: September 27, 2010 05:59:45 AM
So this wasn't a stencil, but I figured this was the best place to put this. I free-hand painted this bag for a swap I was just in! It was based off a bag on her wists, and I omitted the wings, because well, feathers just aren't my strength! Hope it's ok to post this here!
