3  Satyr Legs! in Costumes: Completed Projects by squire_inaria on: October 21, 2011 09:05:44 AM
I'm part of a fantasy-based medieval reenactment society called Amtgard. A friend of mine plays a satyr and asked if I could make legs for her character. I told her sure, and a week and a half later they were finished. I ended up sacrificing two couch cushions to the craft gods in order to get the right shape for them.

Then another friend saw how these turned out and commissioned another pair. I swear it will be my last unless I get paid really well! I did have fun making them though. I only have a couple of pictures now but will be taking more soon.

Without further adieu, here they are!

4  Goddess Kali Poppet in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by squire_inaria on: October 21, 2011 08:51:26 AM
I made this poppet for Dragonflower in the Goddess swap. It's taken me forever to actually post pictures of her....

Meet the Hindu goddess Kali. She pretty much created herself as soon as the idea for her popped into my head. All 4 arms are jointed and move. All the wire work was done by me and the arms on her girdle are made from polymer clay.

C&C welcome!

Here are some pictures of henna work I've done on myself. I mix my own powders. Unfortunately I don't have any post paste pictures....

9  Ongoing Tarot Card Swap~October 2011 (SIGN UP/CLAIM until 10/31) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by squire_inaria on: October 07, 2011 08:52:20 AM
The Ongoing Tarot Card Swap~October 2011!!

Welcome!! This is a simple and easy swap, with your level of participation determined entirely by you.  Smiley

The tarot cards you make must be 4x6 inches. It is assumed that we are all using the Universal Rider-Waite deck for card meanings/symbolism - unless you specify differently in your personal preferences on your claim post.

A regular size greeting card envelope should be big enough to fit your card but be sure to put it in between some thicker pieces of card stock or cardboard so that it doesn't get ruined during the shipping process (remember the extra weight may change the shipping price slightly).

Please put your 'artist info' on the card. Twenty years from now we want to know who made such a beautiful card!

Discussion thread: Questions and discussion can be posted here.

Current Gallery: post photos of your received tarot cards here!

July Gallery: look at the tarot cards made in July

August Gallery: look at the tarot cards made in August

September Gallery: look at the tarot cards made in September

When sending send/receive notifications to the swap organizer, there are four pieces of information that must be included about each tarot card.  What are they?  (Scroll down in the swap info under this questionnaire to the area "Once you have sent or received a card"; the answer is in red.)

*Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join this swap!  Sign-ups are open until the end of September--YAY!  PM me the above questionnaire to get started, and please wait to be accepted into the swap before making any claims.  Please make sure you are not late or flakey in any of your other swaps.*

Claims are made throughout the signup/claim period of the swap.  You have two weeks from the time you make a claim to send that claim.

You can make as many (or as few) claims as you want throughout the month as long as you never go over your allowed amount of outstanding claims. (An outstanding claim is a card that has not been received; when that card is received your number of outstanding claims goes down leaving you open to bring it back up to 5 or 8.)

Posting QUALITY photos of received tarot cards is a requirement of this swap.  Smiley

1. Claims are made using the following procedure:

Person A (the swap organizer) will begin the swap by posting a list of themes in this swap thread.
Person B will choose a theme from one of A's themes and make a claim by posting his/her own list (see below for formatting of post).
Person C will make a claim on one of B's themes and post his/her own list.
Person D will make a claim on one of C's themes and post his/her own list etc...
This continues through the end of the month, when the swap organizer makes the final claim and closes out the claiming part of the swap.

2. How many claims can be made by each individual:

The number of claims each person is allowed depends on the following criteria:
*Friends of Craftster: 8 claims
*Those who aren't Friends of Craftster: 5 claims
*First time swappers (whether Friends of Craftster or not): 1 claim.  Once the initial claim has been sent, and its new owner has reported it received, the first time swapper is free to make more claims, either 5 or 8 dependent on being an FOC or not.

3. How to make a claim:

A claim post should include the following information:
1. The theme you are choosing and who youre sending it to.
2. Statistical info about your current swap claims status:

~Claims= Claims currently outstanding (ie., how many not yet received by their new owners.) (This number goes down each time a claim is received, and up each time you make a claim.)
~Sent= anything currently in the mail.
~Received= the cards received by the people you've sent them to.

3. Your location.
4. Your personal preferences.
5. Your list of themes

I claim RandomCraftsterMember for heffalumps/woosels tarot card.

3 claims, 2 sent, 1 received

I live in Massachusetts, USA.  I would prefer not to receive anything violent, political, or religious.

My themes are:
1)   sneezing
2)   purple people eaters
3)   wandering men of grief
4)   jumping jehosophats
5)   birds in hats

1. Send a personal message to the person you have claimed and request their address
2. You have 2 weeks to complete each card, and have it in the mail to its new owner.  Smiley

1. Please PM the organizer when you send or receive a card.  (It's also good to notify the person you received from or are sending to.)
2.  Label the message as Ongoing Tarot Card swap October--Sent or Ongoing Tarot Card Swap October--Received (or some variant of that)
3.  Be sure and include (1) the "send by" date, as well as (2) the theme and (3) who sent it to (4) whom, in each email to the tarot card swap organizer, when you're referring to sent or received tarot cards.  That's four pieces of important information that make my life as a swap organizer OH so easy!

For example, you could use this format:

I sent some tarot cards today!

Send by 12/16:
squire_inaria ---> randomswapper = fantasy theme

Send by 12/17:
squire_inaria ---> craftstermember = nature theme
squire_inaria ---> tarotfan101 = yet another fascinating theme

This lets the organizer easily access the swap info, so it can be updated.

It is OH so important to post pictures of the amazing cards you receive!  This is the best way in the world to let it be known how special it is that you've received a wonderful treasure of someone else's creativity!

Please post pictures/scans of your received cards in the gallery (or make arrangements with your partner to do so).

Positive feedback will be given when all of the tarot cards you sent have been received.   Good communication is always cool!  And be sure and post those pictures in the gallery!

If you have any questions please post them in the discussion thread or PM the organizer.  This thread is specifically for claims only.

Thanks to beckashell for this amazing "about claiming" post!

I received my package today and Dragonflower spoiled me unbelieveably!!! I can only hope she likes hers as much as I loved mine.

Let's start off with two fabric cuts. I'm planning on working on a Gibbous dress with velvets and other fun fabrics (since I can't find enough only velvet) in shades of blue/gray/black (and I'm happy to swap for more fabric Wink ). She sent some fabric along for that and for belly dance costuming.

Then some wonderful smelling oils (rose and witches brew), crystals (I think they're amethyst, rose quartz and citrine) and the coolest goddess candle holder!

Then came some amazing note cards personalized with pictures of Arianrhod. I don't know how she knew, but three of those are some of my favorite images of her

But wait! There's more! Next is a stunningly gorgeous circlet inspired by one on my wist. I had it on there because I haven't been brave enough to try my hand at making it, but she did an astounding job!!

Close up of the wire work

And then an awesome wall art piece of Arianrhod weaving the stars. Isn't it beautiful? She said it didn't come out the way she had been planning, but I love it.

Thanks for being such a wonderful partner, Dragonflower! *nervously awaits the package I sent to be opened*
