1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Vest and Bolero on: January 01, 2010 08:44:49 PM
I posted this dress in the restructured area bit ago, but I made a bolero so I could cover up my back in the chilly weather.
Since I had a new outfit for new years I thought I would make my man something nice. His vest was made from a pattern I threw together based on another vest he had (the other one was way too big so I had to do lots of adjusting).
I think he looks so handsome I've begun designing other ones he would wear on a more casual/normal basis.    Grin
The vest has two front pockets.  I made the buttons and handkerchief using the lining fabric.

On to the pics!!!!!!!

C&C welcome and appreciated!
Thanks for looking!! Kiss
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Duvet cover to gym bag! on: December 20, 2009 05:20:02 PM
So my sister wanted a gym bag for xmas and I didn't have the best fabric for it, but I think this will do.
My serger is out of commission right now so I had to use bias tape on the inside...I'm not great with bias tape!!!!

Anywho, I think it came out alright.  I made up the pattern as I went thinking about what my sister requested...pockets and zippers.

I hope you like it and C&C welcome

thanks for looking!
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Crazy quilt!!!! on: December 20, 2009 05:15:10 PM
My first crazy quilt!  It's for my niece for xmas.  My niece is only 1 so that's why I chose this quilt since it has a lot of bright colors and things to look at.  Smiley  I'm very proud of this quilt; I would say it's definitely my best yet.
I used this tutorial and just left out the applique.

Well, on to pictures!!!!!

C&C welcome and appreciated!
Thanks for looking
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Scarf Dress - Pencil Skirt Combination on: November 27, 2009 08:44:34 PM
Hello fellow craftsters!  I'm very excited to present my version of the scarf dress/pencil skirt combination.
It took me about two hours to complete.
I used these two links as general guides/inspirations...Thank you so much for these tutorials!!!!!

The skirt is made from black work pants I've had for a while but never wore; they're a stretchy material and almost shiny.  The scarf is one my mother gave to me and have always wanted to use it for something!  I have yet to hem it but ran out of black thread.  I used navy blue to sew the scarf down.  I hope it isn't too noticeable.  Smiley
(sorry for the sideway shots!  I forgot to rotate them)

The best part is I don't have to wear a bra!  I have a size D cup but since the scarf wraps all the way around I'm all covered up...I may be a bit saggy but boy do I feel free!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I have a black pea coat and want to change it! on: October 22, 2009 03:06:51 PM
i've had this pea coat for years and years and have always wanted to spice it up a bit.  I would love to do it for this winter, but I have no solid ideas for how to change it.  It's pretty big and bulky; it's a regular black pea coat like this. http://modculture.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/topman_peacoat.jpg
Does anyone have any ideas?
I've never altered a jacket before but the jacket's just been sitting in my closet so I don't really care what happens to it anymore.

This is cute, but I don't know where to start to alter it.  I really like the collar here too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!
6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Little jumper on: October 21, 2009 10:06:26 PM
My niece's first birthday is coming up and I decided to make her a jumper.  I think it's going to be a bit big since I based it off of something that would fit a 2 year old, but my beautiful niece is a big girl so I think it will work.  And if not she'll grow into it!   Cheesy

I hope you like...

It's made from an old pillow case and some red corduroy.  Now I just have to ship it to her.
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / My parents love antiques and I need help with an idea... on: October 18, 2009 10:38:40 PM
My parents love antiques and well they also love...having a good time and drinking.  So for the holidays I wanted to make them something that read "It's 5:00 o'clock somewhere!"  in an antique-ish style.  How?  I have no clue?
My ideas have been minimal, but are:
Embroidering the words and framing it--I'm not so good at embroidering letters though
Stenciling the words and framing it
or something else entirely!

Any ideas?

I like to do all sorts of crafts so any ideas are greatly appreciated!
