21  Re: Look, I Can Read! Fave Kids Books Gallery in The Swap Gallery by worthwhilegirl on: July 28, 2005 02:51:13 PM
I just got the most AMAZING package from xmelinda!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

My book was "The snowy day" by Ezra Jack Keats.

She sent me a beautiful box with pictures from the book, a snowball that is guaranteed to never melt (Peter tries to keep one in the book but it melts), a lovely hand made snowy day journal and (my favorite) a BEAUTIFUL pin with a picture of Peter in his red snowsuit with his tracks in the snow.

I love all of it so much!!!!

Here are the pics. I couldn't get a good picture of the pin so if you have a better one please post it Melinda. It is so cool!!

This is the box all my goodies came in:

The journal, snowball & pin:

And the pin by itself:

I can't tell you how much I love it all Melinda!! You are an awesome swap partner!!!  Kiss

I love cascade quatro!!!

I've finished mine as well! WOO HOO!!

onemosphere- Seam it!! It really only took me an hour to do mine & the seams actually look good! Smiley

I used patton's grace in cardinal on size 5's. It took me a about a month & a half to do all that stockinette stitch! I'm thrilled with the way it turned out!

So as promised here is what I did with grasshoppers painting.

This is the before:

And after:

I hated that the first one what so dark & dreary but I wanted to keep with the idea of a still life of flowers. I used vintage fabric from the 60's as flowers and did some 60's style doodling as the leaves.

Here is a close up:

Amanda said she was going to put it in her office so I wanted to make sure it was bright & cheery!

Everyone has done so well this round! I sat out of round 3 but I can't wait for the gallery!!

25  The BEST fruit tart brought to us by NPR in Dessert by worthwhilegirl on: July 15, 2005 09:30:23 AM
I heard this story on NPR http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4715960 about a super easy fruit tart about a week ago & I finally got around to trying it last night. Not only is it super easy it is delicious & it also looks like you spent a ton of time & energy on it (think those rice krispie commercials from the early 90's).

Here is how my first tart turned out:

The directions are in the NPR story! I would love to hear if anyone else trys this!!

27  Re: Alien Illusion Scarf - knitalong in Knitalongs by worthwhilegirl on: June 28, 2005 07:38:59 PM
That purse looks awesome!! I'm doing a skull illusion scarf right now. Ysolda posted the chart on craftster a few months ago (if anyone is interested in it just do a search for "skull illusion scarf") & I have been meaning to do this.

Here is my progress so far:

Just stripes (sorry it's upside down)

And with skulls:

I can't wait to see eveyrone's aliens!

28  Re: One Skein Wonder KAL Anyone? in Knitalongs by worthwhilegirl on: June 23, 2005 08:26:42 PM
That looks great MerLeigh!! I love my cotton ease one!

I just finished my third.

Here are crappy pics (Sorry):

I used Gedifra Dandy (in a color that has been discontinued so long that I have no clue what it is) & Elann Peruvian wool in lime Ice.

The Dandy is bulky & I ran out about an inch from the bottom so I just started with the elann wool there. I love the way this color combo turned out! It's a little too warm to wear all that wool now but it is soft and lovely!!

This is a great thread! I really love seeing all the variations!! Craftsters rock!!

I'm so glad you like it all Carina!!

I had the idea for the pillow as soon as I saw the swap idea thread. I wish I could have gotten a pic of it in the dark. I was especially pleased with the way the silhouettes look in the moonlite.

I do have a pic of zero's nose glowing!

I was so excited that this turned out well! It took a little trial & error but it was well worth it!

The stitch markers were a no brainer!! I hope they help you on your one skein wonder!!

Thanks for organizing Megami!! I can't wait to see what everyone else makes!!
