21  sort of steampunk (tiny) velvet top hat in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Missing_Muse on: February 01, 2010 11:14:22 AM
My friend wanted a new hat for a party we were going to. A week later, this is what I came up with. She wanted flowers and a veil, and for it to be perched as opposed to traditionally fitting. I think it came out okay. You can't tell at all from these pictures, but i made the brim larger in the back so it actually curls up around the flowers like a little frame.  Hope you like it!

22  Burda 6836 blue top with princess-esque line in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Missing_Muse on: January 25, 2010 06:27:02 PM
And here is what I made from mystery fabric I found at a thrift store. It's definitely a poly blend of some sort, though it's not as shiny in person as it is in the pic. I stink at photography...

23  Re: Questions About Hairstyles! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by Missing_Muse on: January 24, 2010 12:31:51 PM
I have been admiring the amazing and cute hairstyling the people at Criminal Minds do on Kristen Vangsness (Garcia) for a long time. After this week's episode, I reached the tipping point between idly wondering how they do it and needing to know. I really *need* to know how they managed this:

it's got some sort of Leia bun thing going where it's wrapped around the ribbons on the side

and of course the back isn't just flat, either.

How did they do this? Someone please fill me in!

24  grey ruffled skirt (think of them as a very tiny bustle) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Missing_Muse on: January 04, 2010 06:54:09 PM

25  The ugliest pendant ever and a nifty sewing machine necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Missing_Muse on: December 26, 2009 12:32:46 PM
So I was at my local Michael's and I found this hideous pendant with a monkey on it. Bad colours, terrible drawing. Naturally I bought it. It needed help and I felt sorry for it. It evolved into the largest necklace I've ever made, which is not to say the monkey has actually been redeemed. Poor monkey...

I also got this cool antique sewing machine pendant, which needed a semi-formal feeling necklace to go with it...

26  My aunt's X-mas present/ Red Silk Tunic in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Missing_Muse on: December 26, 2009 12:26:06 PM
Here is the tunic I made for my aunt who's really into yoga and being comfy. I put a black shirt on my dummy so you could see the neckline of the top...

27  Garrison/Wedgge Hat with Veil in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Missing_Muse on: October 16, 2009 07:11:11 PM
I don't know what posessed me to create this, but it turned out okay.

This hat is stiff cotton with a net veil that has been hand beaded with glass seed beads.

Do veils belong on this kind of hat? Opinions wanted...

The hat is a little too big for my dummy head, but I didn't have another modelling option...

What do you think?
