11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Quilt Block Swap Round 4 Gallery on: September 24, 2013 07:29:30 PM
I just finished catching up on the boards and the gallery and all the new blocks are GREAT! Melladh those vibrant garden fence blocks are gorgeous and I can't wait to lay out my Autumn blocks all together. They're all fabulous!

I spent the weekend cutting and sewing like a madwoman and managed to finish sloth, donniesgirl (CHRISTMAS) and alwaysinmyroom.  The very first party hat block came out off-sized and I thought, "Here we go again." But somehow like magic, I finally figured out the right seam allowance and the others came out right - with the proper points even!!!  Tonight I tackled assembly on the first Scotty block, the one I was MOST nervous about...  I can't believe it but it came out right on the first try.  There are a couple of itsy bitsy spots that aren't perfect but it's RIGHT on the first try,

For the first time in this swap I actually feel confident about what I'm doing.   Grin

I'll try to get pics posted tomorrow.

I love all the new blocks that are up, especially my stars.  Wink

That Celtic Twist looks just AMAZING when laid out side by side!  Yet another on my "I want one!" List.  Grin

I had already decided to start a green themed garden fence quilt for myself - partly because I love greens and this pattern really lets you highlight that central square and also because I had trouble getting the size right and have four blocks already sitting here complete.  I have to say, I'm really loving all of ellarain's happy color ones.  They are all so bright and beautiful!  I think I will need one in that happy bright color scheme as well.  This swap may just have created a garden fence monster!

Such gorgeous blocks in the gallery!  I was out of town for the weekend but hope to get another big chunk done by the end of this coming weekend.

Sloth - I like making your paintbox squares!  It's so much fun to play with the different pattern and color combinations.  I have the rest of the patterns cut and the matching solids picked out waiting to be cut.

Now that donniesgirl is in my group I get to shopping in my Christmas fabrics!  New fun!

LOVE the kitty in the scrap bin, carolmb!  I also have a black cat who loves to curl up on top of or in the most inconvenient places.  She is being very good this swap, though, and hasn't even come near the fabric I have all over my craft room!

Greetings Everyone,

Quick question FoxyMama, Did I get too crazy with the color mix here?

I haven't added the white boarder to it yet, just let me know if I have gone way over board on the mix here LOL.

Was just cutting and stitching and might of got carried away

well and wonderment
carol

Sorry to be late to the party - I just got home from work and am catching up.
The block is lovely Carolmb - not too scrappy at all! :-)

Carol, if FoxyMama doesn't like that block, you have my address! Grin

Kbrison - #1 Back away from my block!   Wink. #2 I love the box of fat quarters!  I'm also planning not to duplicate fabrics - with the exception of solid white.   Great minds and all that.  Cheesy

I just love this swap!

I think my machine and I have finally agreed to a truce, meaning I have blocks to post in the gallery!

The color is off in some of the photos, especially the greens in the Garden Fence blocks, and at least one is blurry so I will probably retake them tomorrow but I just can't resist posting them RIGHT NOW!

None of them are perfect and the mistakes are really bugging me, but overall I'm pleased.  I'm posting one Paintbox for sloth, one blue and yellow star for kbrison, the Garden Fence blocks for EnginerdLisa (The one with the tree border has a short spot on one side so I'm sending an extra.  This block gave me fits at first so I also have four other ones that came up small that will become the start of a green Garden Fence quilt for me!) and two pinwheels for carolmb.  I am MOST proud of these because they are so new for me!  For the green and teal one I followed carolmb's tutorial from a previous round.  The orange/green/yellow one I did on a wing and a prayer, thinking I had calculated the right size squares to come out at the right size block overall.  It's not quite right, but I am beyond thrilled how well it worked.   Grin

If these are not what you were looking for, or if the mistakes are too much when you recieve I'll be happy to redo any of them.

 Cheesy Martha

FoxyMama for that one I used a stain glass pattern I found. I simply resized it a bit, flipped the pattern, traced the parts. I could mail you the file if you want it

That would be great!
