31  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Prayer Flag Swap Round SO - 6/10 on: May 23, 2017 04:31:37 PM
So excited to get started! And glad to have a couple of old swap friends as partners - it's so comfortable! Wink

Doing a third flag for myself is more work, of course, but I've loved all the ones I've made for myself so far. I just have to remember not to over-do it. Simple is good.

I'm going to finish on Monday for sure, but it's a holiday here (Victoria Day), so the Post Office will be closed. So shipping Tuesday.

I've had a good day so far today: I didn't have any heavy card to make the cover out of, and meant to scrounge a couple of pieces at work on Friday, but got too busy and forgot. But when I impulsively stopped at Value Village this morning, looking for something else entirely, I found a hardcover book that's exactly the right size. The pages were brittle and falling apart, but the cover is in excellent shape. I've cut out the original page block and glued mine in, and it's drying right now. The next step is going to be to somehow make it look less like the nineteenth century German religious calendar that it once was. How hard could that be?

I have this big box of bits from packaging, receipts, business cards, leaflets, even the sleeves from my coffee cups >.>

Cheesy while I'm reading this, I'm waiting for the glue to dry on a coffee sleeve I've just attached!

How did you attach the ribbon? Did you sew it onto the fabric first? Your spacing is very even - how did you lay it out so you could be sure it would be straight and not uneven?

'm in New York right now, having a little vacation and trying not to fret about the fact that my junk journal isn't being worked on while I'm here. But I am picking up a few good things to add, both from stores and off the streets.  Grin

I am in the same boat and actually I was a little too ambitious and figured, well if I'm dragging out all this stuff I should make myself a journal.  And an extra journal to practice binding.  So I have 3 journals in progress and still have a huge stash left .

I'm so glad you said this, because I almost did exactly the same thing, and I was thinking I should try to take advantage of having stuff already pulled out and make at least one more journal at the same time. I see now that I was better off sticking to only one!

38  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Assemblage Art Swap 2 Gallery on: May 02, 2017 09:49:40 AM
Aaahgh! I forgot to cover the underside of one of the shelves! I remember thinking "I've got to remember that," but I see now that I didn't! Embarrassed

There aren't really stories for each of the items, but I like it to look like there would be. The only thing I have to add is that the object in the bowl of the left hand spoon is a tiny painted tin cob of corn, and the right spoon has an "Organic Gardening " pin.

Thanks for putting her back together so perfectly. I'm sorry there was so much damage - I thought I'd done a good job of packing, but obviously things still bounced around in the box somehow.

I'm a little scared of how many junk journals I could probably make and not make a dent in my stash. Ha!
.

I know - I keep finding more good stuff all the time, and thinking "I have to put that in!" My journal is going to be 100 pages!

I've been watching the videos and looking at the pages that Geekgirl linked, accumulating ideas. I particularly like http://vintagejunkjournals.com. While the pages are starting to come together, I have to admit I haven't thought about a cover at all. Mutt get moving.
