1651  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: WWP Round 37 - Lammas Bounty Swap Gallery on: July 31, 2012 06:06:36 PM
Have you noticed that pairs of partners have been receiving at the same time? That's so cool!

Glad you liked the harvest basket. The wood came courtesy of my boss - the cedar was scrap he had left over from building a new deck, and the oak branch was one I kept after helping him prune a tree last fall. (Never throw anything out.) Wink Those beans look like a good start to your harvest! There was also another loose stone in the package - did you find it?

Here's the great package I received in return:

First, this excellent personalized Lammas card and the warm fleecy nightcap I'd strongly hinted about. It's a bit large even for my oversize head, but that's so much better than too small, which is the kind of hats I usually get! It'll be easy to make it a bit smaller, but I don't think I'll alter it until I've worn it one night. Large might turn out to be the right size!.

And this extraordinary shirt! Complicated neckline and lace-up cuffs, sleeve gussets, gores for added fullness at the waist - it would've been quite a challenge to sew from a full-size pattern - it's hard to imagine you just drafted it from a tutorial! (It's quite a good fit, by the way.) Sorry about the dull indoor photo - I was planning to do it outside this afternoon, but a thunderstorm got in the way. Angry

Look how great the sleeves are!

But that's not all! Cheesy

The extras included a beautifully-scented jar candle, a pot of deliciously citrus-y lip balm (it's hard to imagine needing that in this muggy heat, but it'll be much appreciated in a few months!), a bottle of essential oil insect repellent (that I can certainly use right away!) and four perfectly-matched pieces of beach glass from Lake Erie. (I especially love beach glass, which you must have somehow intuited.)

And best of all - a lifetime supply of shaving soap! There's a background story here: HG and I were partners in a swap a year or more ago, and she sent me three pieces of shaving soap. Unlike so many homemade soaps it lasts forever - I still have one piece left from the original swap! I mentioned that it was my favourite shaving soap ever, so she sent the rest of the batch!

Thanks for all this great stuff. I hope it was fun to make - it certainly was to receive!

Just checking in to announce that I am back from a very odd and not-so-funny vacation...

So many of my vacations are like that it's a wonder I even bother anymore!

My germ of an idea suddenly crystalized today. (oops - metaphor collision!) I'm ready to go - where's my tin?

I'll be glad when the weather cools down a bit so I can bake bread again. Store bread, even "artisinal" stuff, is never as good.

I received a great package from hawkeyes_girl today! Densely packed with lovely handmade stuff, she says she enjoyed making it all, and it shows.

Photos tomorrow afternoon, hopefully. There will be some co-ordination required to get action shots, etc.

I leave to go camping with my family pretty soon so it's a mad house around here, but I will try to get an action shot up before I leave, and if not, definitely when i get back Smiley

I think that bustle would be just the thing to wear around the campsite!  Wink

Oh! Shocked After days and days of nothing, a tiny idea suddenly popped into my head. It seems to be growing into something. If it survives it'll be ber-geeky, which is perfect. Stay tuned.

I received my first flag yesterday, and it didn't take too long coming from Britain. Of course Phizzychick sent super-early, which helped a lot.

Look at how great this is! It includes not only one of the words from my list   but several of my other favourite textile things - vintage lace, linen, random stitching, etc.

Here's a detail to show the layers and the stitching.

And almost as good as the flag itself is this piece of printed card that Phizzy attached the flag to so it would stay flat in the envelope. Not a forbidden extra, of course, just packing material! Wink

Thanks for this!

Thanks, Wulf. I'm impressed that you put them in alphabetical order!

It's sadly revealing that I didn't even think of not alphabetizing them!

Pictures are showing fine for me.

Great stuff! That's a lovely painting, Lexy. And the fabrics on the bustle are perfect!
