1  Craft Swaps / ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED / Re: Happy Mail Swap #3 - BRING the HAPPY! SIGN UPS close THURS. 10/19 on: October 19, 2017 04:40:46 PM
I only like Coccoina glue sticks. All the others, including the original UHU, are inadequate in one way or another. Coccoina is much softer than the others, so it goes on smoothly; you can use it on tissue paper without tearing. Like all glue stick adhesives, it doesn't like to be damp, but unlike the others it won't just arbitrarily decide to stop being adhesive after a few months or years. If I'm gluing onto painted paper that isn't fully dry, or painting onto paper that's already been collaged with Coccoina, I put a weight on it for a half-hour or so until it's dried. My experiences with glue runners hasn't been great - they all seem to let go eventually.

2  Craft Swaps / ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED / Re: Happy Mail Swap #3 - BRING the HAPPY! (S/U now thru Oct.19; S/O Nov. 3) on: October 16, 2017 07:34:44 PM
I've missed the previous two Happy Mail swaps, but I didn't miss this one! Cheesy I've been mostly AWOC (Absent WithOut Craftster) for the past month or so, but I came back just in time.

Hooray! This is going to be fun! And it's great to see so many old friends on the list - it's going to be a wonderful Gallery of goodies.

And craftylittlemonkey, stop messing about and join. You KNOW you'll regret it if you don't. You really will.

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: What's the buzz? on: September 02, 2017 04:33:54 PM
Of course the reason you have so many yellow beads is that you think you hate yellow, so you never use them. This is so sweet! (Oops! Pun not intended.)

4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Re: Face Jug on: August 31, 2017 04:28:04 PM
Fabulous! I could happily live with him.

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Mixed Media on Coaster Blanks & Autumn Plaque on: August 27, 2017 04:45:51 PM
The coaster blanks are such a good size for this. I always love anything with heavily built-up texture of this sort - it's what I keep trying to do myself but never seem to take it far enough!

And I love "Pilgrim Screams". Just unsettling enough to be interesting.

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Yet Another TM Patch Swap R9 Gallery on: August 17, 2017 03:44:46 AM
That shark patch is INSANE.

Yes it certainly is! I stared at it for a few seconds before my brain even began to take in what I was looking at!

There are so many brilliant techniques on display here. I always forget how much variety there always is in the patches people create.

I just got an amazing package from Sharalee! I know she felt bad for making me wait, but it was so worth it!

In every one of these swaps I've included "trees" and "insects" in my list. And I've received at least one or the other every time. Which makes me happy, because I'm steadily gathering a collection of insect and tree patches.

Sweet Sharalee made me one of each!

This beetle is painted, embroidered and beaded.

The tree is so lushly embroidered you can almost feel the texture of the bark just by looking at it. And what great charms are dangling from the branches!

Of course there was a kit of supplies, too:

These wonderfully varied fabrics - including some tiny calico prints that are perfect for edging TM patches.

An iron-on skull patch (which I know exactly where I'm going to use), some fabulously variegated floss, and a whole lot more charms, buttons and embellishments.

Thanks so much for this, Shari!

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Just Be on: August 15, 2017 05:27:53 PM
Oh Ludi, I'm so glad you never fail to amaze me. I love your embroidery - I have a piece on my wall right now - but I'm still caught off guard by the sheer artistry of it. This bee piece is amazing. It's so perfectly simple and yet unmistakably you.

Thanks so much for sharing it with us all. We owe you a lot!  Kiss

I'm so glad you have a use for those lavender sequins, Shari. They've been in my stash since forever! Cheesy

A local fabric store had a whole range of maple-leaf themed quilting cotton on sale after Canada Day this year, so I had to buy a bit of one of them to include in both your kits.

10  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Abandoned Art Swap Rd 2 (SU 7/26-8/9 SO 9/5) on: July 27, 2017 04:57:44 PM
What a great idea for a swap! I think the timing won't work for my schedule, but I'll give it a good look before I give up on it. Maybe it'll be possible.
