YKYACW ... a pipe bursts in your building and you're told you have to evacuate until further notice and one of the FIRST THINGS you pack is the fabric for a swap you're doing and the organizational sheets for a swap you're organizing, before clothes even!

OK, so I have a question....I know we need to craft items for the swap but since it is frugal, what if say I have a partner that needs bed linens for example and I have three closets full of German bed linens...I am a bit of a hoarder, it is something I am trying to fix. ...anyway the question is...can you fill a need for a partner and that be part of the swap as well?

I don't see why not, so long as it's okay with your partner.  I think a majority of it should be crafted, but filling needs is also good!  (Maybe a non-crafted can count as a small?)

My friend just posted this article on Facebook and I must share!  Maybe we should invite him to our swap.   Grin

So, am I the only one who saw 'Fabric' in April and was like OOOOOOOH!

Speaking of hummus, I had a pot of garbanzo beans soaking while I was at work.  I brought them with me (along with the tahini I picked up after work) and plan on cooking them tomorrow.  They're in my mom's fridge, but I'm too pooped to actually cook them now.

Do we think they'll be okay without being cooked straight away?  (I have very little experience with beans that aren't from a can!)

Hi ladies - just an update on me.  I may not be quite as active in this thread the next couple days.   A pipe burst in my building and though my condo is fine (so far, hopefully, my fingers are crossed), we all had to evacuate until the water gets turned back on, which will be sometime between 24-48 hours and ... sometime after that. :-|    Yeah.  But I'm looking on the bright side that my condo wasn't flooded when several were so I am EXTREMELY lucky.

On an amusing note, what were the first things I packed up for my stay (other than my bunnies which have to be boarded as my mom has a dog ... ah, unexpected expenses!) ... oh yes, it was the fabric for the fabric swap and the little stack of papers on which I've written all your particulars for matching.

My priorities may just be a tad out of whack. Wink

Added two more people today, by the way, though I think I'll try to get partners posted Friday night (which I know is closing it a wee early, but there you have it.)  Hope that's okay with everyone - if you know anyone who's planning on waiting until the last minute, please let them know to join earlier, rather than later, otherwise they may miss out!

Just to let everyone know, I may not to be too terribly active here for the next little bit.  A pipe burst in my building and they said everyone had to get out until it could be repaired.  Luckily my condo's okay, but I'm now staying at my mother's for the time being (but I totally brought my swap fabric so I'll get the claimed fabric out soon!)

I keep telling myself it could be FAR far worse!
I hope you don't lose anything!
Lol, I love that you grabbed your fabric-got your priorities straight  Wink

That and the little slips of paper I have for the Frugal Swap matching were some of the first things to go into a bag ... before clothes, toiletries.  I'm not sure what that says about me, though ... Wink

I have a square foot garden and i loved it.  i can't wait to get it started next year.  SO, i would really love to join this swap.  i'm also thinking about getting into canning and preserving this spring and summer..would anyone be interested in swapping supplies for that?

I haven't ever canned or preserved before, but I'd be all about swapping supplies for it!  I plan on planting peas and green beans and tomatoes, so I'll hopefully have enough to can!

I have lots of yummie vegan recipes for you (I've been a vegan for about 4 years now) but I'm afraid I don't know anything about crockpots....(I had to google to see what it is  Wink) I only use regular pans and the oven...

Now I'm curious (even though I'm not vegan!)

The paper towels don't really need snaps or velcro if the fabric will stick to itself.  I use flannel ones and they stick to each other rolled around a PVC pipe.  I need hubby to glue to a base tho  Undecided

I would like the velcro or snaps but they aren't necessary.

The only question I have is is it a pain to 're-roll' it when they come out of the laundry?

And I went to the library today and got several books AND requested a few through ILL (including the Encyclopedia of Country Living and Carla Emery's new book on Vegetable Gardening).   Woot!  Go me!
