Is it alright to edit our lists and add more items to them? I just thought of a couple things I could add...

Absolutely!  Maybe make a note somewhere in a pretty color that you've added things?

I just saw edie's onesies & the crochet afghan... lovely pieces! Great package!

Kaz814 - I love you made the handles shoulder length on your tote. That makes it so much easier to carry! Great fabric too!

Thanks!  Smiley  I like longer handles too.  Putting stuff over your shoulder is so much easier, in my opinion. Cheesy

Or you could do something like this... http://www.flickr.com/photos/chezsucrechez/3274177785/. Then you could make any word!

Oh! You know what else would be cool?? If you made a whole bunch of words then you could do embroidery poetry... kinda like magnetic poetry only better Smiley.

Oval hoops would be awesome for words!  Now I need to think of some words I like to put in next round's questionnaire.  I can only think of words that I don't like, like moist, or panties  Lips sealed

That's not true, I like the word discombobulated.  But that might be a little long  Smiley

IsikkaJai, you're welcome Smiley  Always trying to get more hoopla converts!  I have no cross stitched hoops yet (hint, hint!)

Well, with the word discombobulated you could put the different letters all over the hoops in no particular order.  Cheesy  It'd be descriptive, at least, if you can figure out what the word is.

Idlers - did you just melt the old candles and layer it?  How'd you do the wick?

IsikkahJai, there have been plenty of cross stitched hoops in past rounds that have been awesome, so there's nothing wrong with that.  However, if you want to learn to embroider, there are tons of tutorials out there, starting with the basics like...

backstitch: http://sarahwhittle.blogspot.com/2010/07/humble-backstitch.html
split stitch: http://handembroiderynetwork.blogspot.com/2009/09/stitch-day-split-stitch-snail.html
chain stitch: http://sarahwhittle.blogspot.com/2010/08/chain-stitch.html

And of course, plenty of fancy stitches to play with too Smiley

Thanks for these links!  Cheesy

Oooh, that's fun, I Sew Cute!  I love trying new stuff. Cheesy

Here's a picture of the totebag I sent to noxluff, who said she likes purple and swirls. Cheesy  It's lined in the same fabric and has long enough handles to go over her shoulder, as requested.

OOOOH!  I adore that garland of stars!  And those bags and the soapnuts and case and ... what a FABULOUS package!  I'd say it was worth the wait!
3239  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / What's part of your perfect needlework project bag? on: January 06, 2011 07:20:56 AM
My mom does needlepoint and she was using an old shopping bag for her project bag.  Suffice it to say, that is not acceptable.  Her birthday is the 15th, so I'm going to make her a project bag, but seeing as how I don't do needlepoint myself (I do cross-stitch and embroidery, though I don't have a project bag for myself), I was hoping some of you lovely ladies and gentlemen would help me.

If you had the perfect needlepoint project bag, what parts would you put in it?  Would there be a matching needlebook, a little place for scissors?  Some sort of contraption to hold the yarn?  What else would you need?

Thanks!
