21  Felt Name Book for soon-to-be DD in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by rocknrollfun on: May 26, 2008 04:47:10 PM
I have been holding on to this project idea since I saw it.  I knew that whenever I had a baby I would make one, and now at 7.5 months pregnant I have one of my own!

This project is based on this one by Plumpkin:  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=71926.0
I love this idea, and I absolutely adore the way it turned out!  We are naming our daughter Hazel, so here's the book for her!  Each page has a letter from her name featuring an animal whose name starts with that letter.  In Plumpkin's creation, the name used had a lot more letters than Hazel, so I decided to feature a shape on the back of each page to make the book longer.

And here's a close-up of the zebra head, which I am particularly proud of, since all the stripes are hand-stitched with embroidery floss:

Thanks for looking!   Kiss

22  Baby Shoes in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by rocknrollfun on: May 06, 2008 07:09:01 AM
Right now I'm gaining all my inspiration from my unborn child.  I'm caught up in what I'll be like as a mother, how I can make things the best for her, teach her to be as fair and loving and strong-willed as possible.  I thought it only fitting then to enter this photo into the contest:

These are the shoes I bought for her to wear home from the hospital, cradled in her father's hands.  I hope you like it!

PS:  You can view it at a bigger res here:

23  Weirdest Thing I've Ever Knit in Knitting: Completed Projects by rocknrollfun on: February 11, 2008 01:29:56 PM
I'm pregnant & have been scouring the Internet & pattern books for easy, fun baby things to knit.  I came across this pattern for a Blanket Buddy, which is a small blanket that features a bunny face, ears, and two paws.  The one in the pattern's photo looked kind of cute, being all pastel green and whatnot, but I have a feeling my baby's not going to be that into pastels.  So I made my black.  And it's kind of creepy, in a cute way.

24  Purse...or Pillow? in Knitting: Completed Projects by rocknrollfun on: September 04, 2007 06:34:45 AM
Last winter I started working on a purse...but halfway through decided that what I really needed was a pillow!  So I modified the pattern and made this cutie.

The green parts (it looks the same on the other side) were supposed to be the body of the bag.  The band of variegated yarn was supposed to  be the strap of the bag.  I just made sure it was as long as the perimeter of the rectangle & sewed up the seams!

I hope you like it as much as I do!!!!   Smiley

25  Baby Cupcakes! in Knitting: Completed Projects by rocknrollfun on: April 24, 2007 06:02:54 AM
A friend who also knits gave me this unfinished baby cardigan a while ago, which I then put away and forgot about until yesterday.  I added some buttons & decided to try out duplicate stitch on it, since I wanted to learn how & needed something to practice on.  A few hours later & this happened!  I think it turned out ok, but my duplicate stitch clearly needs some work.  You can still see all the yellow stitches!!!!

And some close-ups of the designs:

26  Re: The Crafty Wedding Craftalong! in Weddings and Bridal Showers by rocknrollfun on: April 11, 2007 05:28:55 AM
First wedding craft finished!!  I made this pearl wreath to decorate the glass door leading into the house (where the food will be).  I love that it's not flowers, but had I know it would take about 8 hours to hot glue all those little pearls onto the form...I can't lie, I would've done it anyway!!  I mean, it's my wedding, of course I'll spend 8 hours working on one small detail!   Wink

And a crappy close-up, sorry for all the noise:

28  Craft Night in Utica NY! in New York: North by rocknrollfun on: December 15, 2006 06:17:34 PM
Neptune Studio is hosting a craft night every Friday in January 2007 from 6-8 pm.  Since I'm the gallery director there, I thought I would let all you guys know about it.  I can vouch for the event; I will be there (knitting) for sure, and I know that we will have at least one crocheter & one lady who has her own fashion line.  There is a $3 donation we're asking to cover using the space, and I know it will be worth it.  PM me or reply if you have any questions or need directions, I would love for some craftsters to be there!   Kiss

29  Pink Pillow in Blackberry Stitch in Knitting: Completed Projects by rocknrollfun on: December 07, 2006 05:46:53 PM
As an ambitious Christmas gift, I knitted this pillow for my granny.  I've only been knitting since September, and this is the most advanced thing I've done so far.  My knitting teacher turned friend crocheted it together for me, after seeing my terribly knotty attempt at sewing it shut, but other than that it's all me.  I made a pillow first out of a pretty green fabric, then closed the cover around it.  The yarn is actually a little pinker than in the photos, like baby pink.  I think my granny will really like it (pink is her favorite color) & I hope you guys do too!

The pillow in action; please ignore the end sticking out there, I haven't weaved it in yet:

30  Felt Computer Plushie, Complete with Back Story! in Completed Projects by rocknrollfun on: November 16, 2006 03:09:06 PM
My boyfriend's 30th birthday is Sunday, and he insisted that he didn't want a party, or presents, or any fuss.   (le sigh)  Anyway, I wanted to get him something small in addition to taking him & his brother, visiting from out of state, out to this cool older theater for a B movie marathon.  Two things you gotta know about him -- he is truly hard to buy for and he is a total goofball.  You know how the Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a group of crime-fighting fast food?  He decided there should be a group like that for computer science (he's a CS professor), to attract more people to the field, so he came up with the Happy Time Computer Gang, which consists of computer components who dance, sing, and have a great time, with the monitor being the ringleader.   Roll Eyes boys.

So I had to tell you guys all that for this guy to make sense.  This is the monitor, the leader of the Happy Time Computer Gang, who has yet to be named:

Here's a side view...not that there is much to see, except his teeny arms made of pipe cleaners.

He's so basic that he barely looks like anything, but I was pleased that I came up with a unique gift that I really think he will enjoy.  His students will probably have a few laughs over it too!   Grin
