6  Yarn Poppet *with tute!* in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by MoonRaven on: June 28, 2010 05:11:50 AM
I made one of these little guys for the Litha Swap. There was much question as to how he was made, so here's the PIC OBESE tute.... kmichele_craftyfae wrote out the tutorial, I've simply posted it here and supplied the pictures. Enjoy!

You take a piece of stiff cardboard in the length that you want the doll to be. Wrap the cardboard numerous times with some yarn, but not to tight or your doll will end up shorter than the cardboard.

After you have the thickness you want, take another piece of yarn, thread it underneath the wrapped yarn and push it to one end and tie it tightly.

Take a pair of scissors, at the other end (opposite your tie off), slide your scissors under the yarn and clip to remove your bunch from the cardboard. You will (should) have 2 equal bunches on each side of your tie. Fold in half so the tie is at the top of your doll. (I didn't cut mine, works fine as well)

With another piece of scrap yarn tie off the neck area about an inch or 2 down from the top.

After you tied off the neck divide a few of the yarn strands into 3 bunches, 2 smaller ones for each arm and the larger one for the torso and legs. Tie a piece yarn around the larger bunch of yarn where you want the waist to be. Decide how long you want the arms to be and tie one of the smaller bunches with a piece of yarn and cut slightly below your tie. Repeat for the other arm.

When making the legs, just take the last bit of your yarn below the "waist" and divide into 2 equal bunches and tie off where you want the feet to be. Trim the yarn if needed and you're done.

There You have it!

7  Re: WWP Summer Solstice/Litha Round 20 (Signups 5-16-10 to 5-23-10, SO 6-14-10) in The Swap Gallery by MoonRaven on: June 27, 2010 05:04:21 AM
WARNING: Pic Obese!!!
And voilà: the pictures of the INCREDIBLE package Wulf sent me!

First off, a lovely tarot cloth, emblazoned with Copernicus' (sp?) solar diagram.

Next, a potpourri sachet, which, by the way, smells amazing (No worries about the scent being too weak Wulf, I can smell it yards away... Supernose Roll Eyes ). Mind you, I can't tell whether the top is crochet or tatting.

And, last but certainly not least, la pièce  de résistance, a beautiful altar plaque, carved with my Circle's crest! How amazing is that?

I'm so impressed with your level of craftsmanship Wulf!!

9  Spiral Goddess Pendant (Pic Heavy) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by MoonRaven on: November 19, 2009 11:02:37 AM
Here is the newest addition to my Pagan jewelery collection... A Spiral Goddess pendant.

I cut the pendant out of a fairly large apple tree branch, dried it, then pyrographed the Goddess. I then rubbed it with olive oil, and let it dry. The beads are all natural, made from various materials such as coconut, seashells, and pearl.

And now for the photos!

A picture of my husband & I on our second date. Embarrassed Wink The lettering for AMOUR (love) is actually gold, but the flash makes them look black.

All you need is love...
