1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Arid climate = dry cakes? on: December 30, 2009 09:12:50 AM
The age old question, how do I fix a dry and crumbly cake?

I live in a desert climate and I know that because of it I have to add more water to the dough when I want to make breads, I was wondering if because of the arid climate a similar fix may be needed for my cakes?

4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / I'm Julia Child, bon appetit! on: December 12, 2009 12:07:45 AM
I've been on a kind of Julia Child kick, so when Julie and Julia came out Tuesday, I decided to celebrate by making a crocheted tribute to this fantastic woman.

I'm going to give her to my mom for Christmas.

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Need help with hair on a crocheted doll. on: December 07, 2009 10:04:16 AM
So I'm going to crochet Julia Child for my mother for Christmas, but I can't figure out how to get her curly hair right. If I do the fringe hair thing it'll come out too straight, and I'm not sure where to go from here.

I was thinking about checking out joann's to see if they had any fun fur fabric that would do, or I've also heard about doll wigs, what are those like?

Any suggestions?

(here are some pictures for reference)
