1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 85th Birthday Bag on: June 16, 2010 10:33:11 AM
Today is my grandmother's 85th birthday, and I wanted to give her something, so I used freezer stencils(thanks, Craftster videos!) and seed beads to decorate a medium sized tote.

Her name is Irene, so I stenciled the I on there. I was thinking of writing Nana on it, but I changed my mind.
And I was going to put 4 flowers on it, but I think it would have been too crowded.
What do you think?

And here are some close-ups of the beaded flowers.

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Sewing Machine Cover on: March 19, 2010 10:36:18 AM
I'm wasn't sure where to put this, but my sewing machine is in my Home Sweet Home and I made the cover out of old clothes. Smiley

I had a Harry Potter shirt (Marauder's Map) that I loved, but it didn't fit anymore but I couldn't part with it.
So I cut out the sayings on each side and decided to use other fabric from clothes that I didn't wear but liked the fabric. I am still new to sewing, so it isnt perfect. But I liked the idea that I am being mischievous when sewing.
So here it is:

The front side:
It says: I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

Next is the back:
It says: Mischief Managed.

I didn't think I would be able to make the top with the cover cut out so I just sort of sewed in two strips of yellow fabric that overlapped on each side.

So I used that black HP shirt, a pink flowery dress, and the yellow lacey edging from a skirt.
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / St Mungo's Hospital Suitcase on: March 19, 2010 09:41:24 AM
One day I was searching for Harry Potter items and I really liked St Mungo's Kit by Pfefferminztea https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=339719.0

I've been cleaning my room and organizing all my craft supplies. I found some scrapbooking paper and I've had a paper/cardboard? suitcase thing lying  around that has just been taking up space, but I put these things together and using the inspiration from Pfefferminztea, I created my own St Mungo's kit and put all my first aid stuff in the case.

Here are some step by step pictures of the process.

This is the "before" picture of the case. It was nice, but I thought I could make it more interesting.

Next I added a background paper. I would have like to cover the entire case, but only had the one sheet of "Tan Catalog" paper. It is old timey advertisements, but I think it kind of looks like the Daily Prophet.

Next I cut out all the letters from some blue starred paper. I made sure that there were stars on each letter. It was time consuming cutting out all the letters. I Mod Podged all the letters on and put on several coats.

Ta da!
The finished product:

How does it look?

4  COOKING / Dessert / Golden Snitch Funfetti Cake on: March 19, 2010 09:26:26 AM
Every week, my friends and I get together and watch Lost and have a nice dinner and dessert. Last week, I had the idea to make a Golden Snitch cake. It doesn't really have anything to do with Lost, but I think Hurley has mentioned Harry Potter once or twice.

At first, I was going to try to use my sister's Big Top Cupcake pan that she got for Christmas, but then I read on a blog (ah, I can't remember which, sorry) to use a Wilton's Sports ball pan..which I did!

Now it had some problems, mostly the wings that I made were too heavy to stay on the cake so I had to sort of just sit them on the sides of the cake, but it still looked OK I think. And it still tasted great. You can't ever go wrong with Funfetti...
