1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / philly flyers bookmark? on: December 15, 2008 09:33:28 PM
I wanted to make my uncle a philly flyers bookmark for christmas, but i'm not sure how to go about it. I want it to be freestanding (ie not like square shaped).
The rest of my plan is to give it an orange tail and a little black hockey puck on the end.

This is what their logo looks like

Any ideas? I only need help with the logo part.

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / crocheted foamy? on: November 21, 2006 10:10:27 PM
my friend is obsessed with foamy and id like to make him a foamy for christmas, foamy is a squirrel but a cats head would probably work

any size is fine but id prefer if it wasent too big

i know im most likely going to end up takeing bits and pieces from various patterns so even if you can only make a suggestion for 1 body part it'll help

hes rather rude so dont click if you're bothered by stuff like that
http://www.illwillpress.com/bisc.html (t-shirt... shows his full body)
http://www.illwillpress.com/shop.html (more shirts)
im thinking of useing that head and maybe the body (made a bit shorter though)
and of course i'll change the face...do you think that will work?

i havent figured out how im gonna do the arms, legs, and tail yet
...my friend and i have a sick sense of humor so i plan to give him fingers so he could make um "gestures"...

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / need help finding baby patterns on: August 13, 2006 06:25:25 PM
my friend is due in 7 weeks, we've known each other our whole lives and our familys are close... even though i havent seen her recently i still want to make things for her little girl (its an off and on friendship, but we've always got each others back)

i need patterns for a... id like them to match somewhat (besides yarn choice)
-blanket... i dont want to do a ripple
-outfit...jacket or dress, im not sure yet
(and i plan to make her a crocheted bear but i already have the pattern)

keep in mind its a girl and i need to be able to do it fast (not sure why i didnt think to start sooner lol)
for the blanket im thinking about holding 2 strands and useing a bigger hook to make it go faster

i dont want to do a lot of sewing so granny square type things are out

and id appreciate help on what size to make things, ive never done baby clothes shopping or made baby things

id really appreciate any help
5  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / is the second printing out yet? on: July 25, 2006 12:32:29 AM
i dont like first editions of craft books because of all the errors, so id rather wait for the second so most will be fixed

(i know theres a page with corrections on knithappens.com but still id rather have them already in my book)
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / was tension ever a problem for you? on: July 22, 2006 03:24:46 PM
i learned to crochet when i was like 12, im 16 now
but even back then tension wasent a problem for me... its makeing me wonder how common tension problems really are

i also didnt have a problem with knitting tension

my grandmoms funny she brags about my tension lol... she was the one who taught me the basics and then i went from there

if you had problems with it how did you fix it? a few people want me to teach them and if this is as common as it seems to be i need to be able to help them

*i dont mean to make anyone feel bad if they have/had tension problems... im just curious*

8  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / body art henna... where do you buy it? on: June 26, 2006 11:55:34 PM
ive been trying to find henna for awhile and so far ive only seen it at hottopic (i tried it and it didnt work)

id rather go to a store and buy it but im open to online shopping too

i looked at a few online places but im a bit afraid to order from a company without hearing any experiences about the shipping and product
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / flower collar thingy aka "dog torture!" (lol) on: June 23, 2006 11:24:19 PM

my baby Smiley

close up

link to the flower pattern

i made the above flower, then i guess how long id need the collar to be, measured it on my dog and adjusted the size (make it a bit big), i did 3 rows of single crochet (leaving room for the button home on the 2nd row)
then i just sewed on the flower and button

before sewing on the button find the spot it would need to be on the collar, be sure its going to be a bit tight on the dogs neck

the button i used was just a black round one with a nub thingy on the back
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / fixing a clay project on: May 19, 2006 12:49:33 PM
in one of my classes at school we get to make stuff with clay (yay)

i made a heart shaped box and this stupid girl wouldnt keep her damn hands off of it! even after i yelled at her like 5 times... end result it broke in half

since it was dry when it broke i asked my teacher what to do, he told me to make slip with clay and vinigar so i did and i fixed my box, it didnt look nice, so i covered it in more clay
let it dry
next day it was all cracky and yucky
i tried more vingar slip
still cracked the next day
teacher had no suggestions

so it was like forget this and fired it in the kiln
it came out ok but its still all cracky, any idea how i can fix it and have it look neat?

i dont know the name of the clay, but it was silver when it was dry, came in a huge block, and when it dryed it was grayish white... a bit lighter after it was fired

i plan to adventually paint it....even if i cant fix the cracks
