31  COOKING / Dessert / Cake pop Question on: November 26, 2011 10:48:08 AM
Hello Craftster-ers, I want to make some cake pops for DD birthday, I have looked up how to make them and I think I have it sussed.  The question I have is about the candy coating.  I am in New Zealand, and am not familiar with this...is it melted chocolate, or is it some other thing?  It comes in so many colours, which is why I think it is something else.  If anyone would be able to clear this up for me, that would be great.

32  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Sew an outfit for my little guy/girl on: November 11, 2011 08:16:08 PM
Just a thought about making cute kids clothes.  Maybe a shorts/trousers set with an applique t shirt etc for boys and a skirt/skort/short set or really nice dress for girls.  I love to sew for my little sausages, and was wondering if there would be any interest in a swap like this?
33  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Three Cluster Necklaces on: November 11, 2011 02:24:29 PM
I have seen so many people wearing cluster necklaces lately, I thought, I could do that.  So here are my efforts.

Nature, the charm in the middle was in my Jar of Whimsies from the swap I am in at the moment

Arachnid, the spider was in my Jar of Whimsies from the last time I did it.

I really enjoyed making these, and can't seem to stop Smiley Thanks for looking.
34  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Little Ukulele shoes on: November 04, 2011 02:34:29 PM
My little guy is 7 months old now, and to save his poor toes when he goes out onto the deck(escape artist), I made some cute little shoes for him.  This fabric was only $5 a meter, I wish now I had bought more Sad , hubby wants a shirt.  It has ukulele and hula girls on it.  The inside is chambray. Just finished them and little mr is asleep so no model yet.

Thanks for looking
35  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Little Button Dress on: October 14, 2011 11:55:10 PM
My little God-daughter turns 1 next week, and I made this dress for her.

It is made from blue corduroy and has a snap at each shoulder.  I was inspired by this tutorial that I saw on another crafster-ers pintrest/wist.  http://frecklednest.typepad.com/la/2011/05/diy-spring-button-flowers.html

I'd love to know what you think.

Thanks for looking.
36  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Twirly skirt from vintage fabric. on: September 28, 2011 06:44:29 PM
I found this piece of fabric at the op shop, about 2 meters long, for 50c.  I think the print looks like little gumballs of liquorice allsorts.  I added a layer of star flocked tulle underneath and a little satin ribbon flower to the front.

Thanks for looking.  Comments welcome. Smiley
37  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Dress and crop jacket from vintage pattern on: September 01, 2011 02:09:58 PM
I made this for a friends DD 4th birthday.  The patten is from the 60's I think, it was a simplicity 3729.  Here is a pic http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_570xN.89606231.jpg  I modified the jacket, as it was a back closing, into this crop version.
The fabric is light green with rambling roses on it.  I finished the bottom of the dress with some of the same hot pink from the jacket.

Thanks for looking. Smiley Smiley
38  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Lime green tube necklace on: August 02, 2011 01:07:41 PM
I made this necklace over the weekend, inspired by a choker from a late 1970 craft book that my mum has.  In the book, the choker had multi coloured seed beads in it, and it was 10mm pipe.   I have used 5mm pipe, and combined it with crackle beads.
Thanks for looking.

39  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Chunky Rainbow necklace on: July 04, 2011 04:06:36 PM
Hi all, just want to share this necklace that I made.  We are in winter now, so dreary, this will brighten things up.  The beads are wooden, and the largest one in 25 mm in diameter.
Thanks for looking

40  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Girls shirt dress with contrast sleeves, and others made from vintage patterns on: March 29, 2011 01:36:06 PM
I love going to the op shop and rummaging thru their patterns.  Quite a few of them even give them away for free.  I love shirt dresses and I added contrast sleeves to this one, I used parts of an old top of my own.  The pattern is from 1973 I think, Simplicity 6121, it didn't have an envelope, but all the pieces and the instructions were there.  Only the pants pattern had been cut.  The fabric is cotton drill, from the op shop fabric table, and is a good weight for our oncoming winter.

I love the yoke Smiley

The next one is a little fleece jacket from a modified version of simplicity 5398 from 1982.  i prefer jackets to windcheaters as DD can get them on and off easier by herself when she is playing

The last one is a little top that she can wear if its cool but not too cold, and it will look cute over a long sleeve t shirt.  It is made from embroidered wool that I bought at a fabric flea market.  It is simplicity 7903 from 1977.  It buttons at the back.

these are the envelopes from the last 2

Hubby was a little skeptical at first, but once he looked past the hideousness of the artwork, and saw the finished items, he was convinced and doesn't ask why i look at the old patterns so often.

Thnaks for looking and any comments are appreciated.
