1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Waist issues. on: February 25, 2006 10:33:54 PM
Hey there. I'm making a pleated skirt from Simplicity 4963 (a-c). I have reached step where I attach the band to the top of the skirt, but the problem is that the front & back bands sewn together according to the directions only goes about 3/4s of the way around the top of the skirt. I was curious what the potential issues may be here or if I was just overlooking something. So far, the only conclusion I could come to was I did the pleats incorrectly since this is my first time working with them. Any help would be appreciated Cheesy
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Webcomics on: February 16, 2006 11:12:33 AM
How about a swap for comics like Toothpaste for Dinner, Natalie Dee or White Ninja? I would organize. I think it sounds fun! Cheesy
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Book or journal swap with a new take on: December 21, 2005 09:29:21 PM
I've been toying with this idea for awhile - A serial killers swap. I'm not entirely sure what the crafts would be, but defintely not shirts with names or anything like that. I was thinking maybe journals or books about serial killers because that all seems awfully fascinating. For example: something with a scrapbook theme (from an onlooker) or a book swap with bookmarks relating to news articles.

Please post your ideas, I think this may be a good idea. On the other hand, it may not go over well. Tell me what you think!
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / X_0 messengerbag on: December 06, 2005 10:24:17 PM
I made this messenger bag as my backpack, but I think it's a little big. It has three pockets: the main one, one in the lining of the main pocket & another on the front.

the bag with the front pocket unzipped

me modeling it.

What do you all think? Cheesy
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / mom & dad need presents too ]: on: December 05, 2005 11:17:29 AM
Holiday time always brings this problem - I don't know what to buy my parents.

They're both forty-five, both work at the same company (my dad is the founder) & they have everything. We're in the middle of remodeling our house too, so I can't do something decorative that'll take up a lot of space. Neither have any specific hobbies. My dad likes to bike, skii & play guitar. My mom really likes Law & Order & staying in. All I can do is sew & maybe put together collages, but I'd prefer the first.

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Let's play Secret Santa craftster style! The idea of secret santa, for those of you who don't know, is to give someone a few gifts and then have a big party and confess who gave to who. Because we're on the internet, I figured we'd send confession letters instead. When I've played before, each gift is matched with a theme about something that person really likes. And you don't neccessarily have to celebrate christmas either, it's just a fun holiday season gift exchange!

First mail out (december fourth) - a small craft
Second mail out (december eleventh) - a store bought item from $5-$15
Third mail out (december eighteenth) - a large craft
Fourth mail out (december twenty-eighth) - a letter saying who you are & why you chose the gifts.

(all but the third swap should be able to go in envelopes so we won't all go broke with postage)

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / secret santa swap? on: October 23, 2005 05:59:58 PM
we could do secret santa among craftsters! If you don't know what that is, you get a name for a person & send them a gift or a couple of gifts starting in december ( i know people who have played you get 1 a week or just one altogether). We'd have to start a.s.a.p. Anyone up for it? I would organize.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / year long cd swap on: October 06, 2005 11:30:39 AM
So last night I was driving home listening to my friend's October mix when I got a great idea for a swap. It would be a yearlong swap that we would start signing up for at the end of November/beginning of December & towards the end of every month, you would send your partner(s) a mix about the upcoming month. Would anyone be interested? I'd organize!
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Fan!! on: October 02, 2005 08:47:39 PM
I realize this doesn't entirely belong here, but I can't find anywhere else it would go. I'm interested in making a fan that looks something like this:

Any ideas on how I could do that? (more just how to attach them, what materials to use & such.)
