21  Shoerack and left overs in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by yzzilnoaj on: April 12, 2013 03:40:37 PM
I saw a shoe rack on pintrest (sorry I don't have the link) and decided my closet had to have my own version of it.  I dragged the boyfriend to Lowes (through do you really have to ever drag a guy to a place where they sell tools?) for some 6 inch pvc. He is far better with power tools than I am so I then had him cut the pvc in 12 inch long section.  As he cut, I glued the pieces together with normal pvc glue.  I glued each row then glued one row on top of another.  The final step was to attached a piece of wood on top to hold the boots.

I love how it turned out...

I had some leftovers and decided my awesome shoe rack required a closet makeover.  I have a scarf obsession and never had a good way to store them.  I thought that if I could cut the pvc in 1 inch slices, tie them together and then hang it from the wall somehow I could then put the scarves through the pvc.  I was right, it is so useful and holds every one of my million scarves.  I recently saw a similar idea on pintrest...I thought I was unique but its still cool  Smiley

yay for closet makeovers!

22  Yay keys (slight picture overload) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by yzzilnoaj on: April 12, 2013 02:54:21 PM
I am a property manager by trade and we have serious key issues.  I am not kidding when I say that we have to change the locks on rental units every week.  Either the tenants are locked out, a lock "breaks" (someone kicked it in), a tenant moves out...etc. It seems like every time we really need to find keys suddenly all copies of the needed key mysteriously disappears.  I say "mysteriously" because for real it seems like there is a key stealing monster out there. Needless to say keys are the bane of my existence. About 3 months ago I decided that something cool needed to be made from all the extra useless keys.  I came up with the idea for a lampshade/lamp for my office.  I then decided that the keys needed to be blingified because I am the boss to a bunch of hardworking men and they would be horrified/amused by it.  I have a fantastic supply of bling thanks to my sister working at Michael's and a huge jar of whimsies that I have collected for half my life.  I finished decorating 20 keys before I found the correct lampshade to attach my keys to...a purple shiny material perfect for horrifying the guys.

Final product

Keys up close

Thanks for taking a look.

I received this WONDERFULLY creative piece of art.  I am really into multi media art and I love all the different mediums used...very inspiring.  I am not sure where this picture will end up going because I am about to move, but it will be going up somewhere! I really love it!

24  Christmas Cards that Sparkle in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by yzzilnoaj on: December 05, 2011 07:38:39 PM
A few weeks ago I got busy designing a tree on my computer.  I was inspired by some mandalas that my sister was coloring.  Once I finally decided on the design for my tree I got busy hand coloring each one differently.  Once the coloring was done it was time for the fun part...to make them sparkle.  I got out my massive amounts of bling and went to town.  I really like the way they turned out.

These are just a few (I made a total of 35)

Thanks for looking.

25  I lay eggs in CHALLENGE 69 ENTRIES by yzzilnoaj on: December 05, 2011 07:14:14 PM
With a great deal of help from my niece (she taught me how to make these and they are her pattern).  I think they turned out really awesome.

This one has one egg that hatches and three that are just eggs.  The head also turns 360 degrees.

The button is holding closed where the eggs come out of.

Here is the turtle, it too has one egg that hatches and three that are just eggs.

The back of the turtle

And the hen

A  better look at the hen

The back side

This really was a joint effort with my niece Johanna.  She is the true talent behind these.

Thanks for looking.

26  Re: Christmas Stocking Swap 7 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by yzzilnoaj on: December 05, 2011 02:36:31 PM
I received the most wonderful package from fluffypants today, prepare for the jealousy to begin...

I LOVE this stocking.  She really nailed my taste and the quality of her sewing is truly amazing

A massive amount of Canadian goodies...already half gone

A wonderful bounty of craft supplies and extras.  I am a paper craft girl that loves sparkles. I have to say the book mark that mocks tv is totally my thing too.  Fluffypants really did taylor fit this package to me.

Beautiful necklaces/pendants....the one on the left will be going on permanent loan to my best friend because it is SOOO her!

Some super cute earrings

And the AWESOMEST apron ever.  I love it!!! (dont mind the ridiculous picture of me)

Thank you fluffypants for the wonderful package!

I received the most wonderful package from Alatarial!  I didn't do a group shot because it just didn't do her craftmanship justice (not that my action shots really do either but I tried).

Milo with his toy...she stuffed it with fabric scraps.  This is brillant because Milo always chews his toys to bits and the stuffing gets everywhere

Next up is this fantastic shirt she made my sister but it turns out it fits me (don't mind the crazy hair...I've been traveling all day)

Another two shirts.  I cannot get over Alatarial's sewing ability, so jealous! The pictures do not do these shirts justice

Up next are these wonderful dish scrubbies. I am stealing this idea for stocking gifts.  It looks like she used tule as the scrubby part?

Some reusable fabric softeners sheets.  My family is very excited about these because I wouldn't let them use the store bought ones because of the chemicals in them.

A Christmas tree ornament that I am suppose to fill with something fun.

Two gift boxes, one for me to decorate with some supplies she sent

I also received some reusable paper towels but there was a juice spill before the picture could be taken. She sent some felt and shout to go packages as extras too  Smiley

Thank you for the wonderful package!

30  $2 Branch Art in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by yzzilnoaj on: July 07, 2011 07:09:21 AM
I made these for a dollar store swap I took place in recently and thought I'd share.  I used dollar store frames, two branches from my back yard, papermache, and paint.

I hope you like them!
