1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / A purse with wings on: January 21, 2012 01:19:13 PM
Few days ago was my best friend's birthday and I made her an special gift: a purse with a pair of jeans she had given to me (they were new but she didn't use them because of the size and I didn't like bottoms with wings! LOL).

I made different patterns (at least three) in order to adjust wings size to purse shape... and at last I found the one I show you!
Wings are a flap that goes from the bottom rear part to the front.

Back part:

Front part:

Front pockets are still pockets!

Inside look:

All the denim I've used comes from this pair of trousers.

Last wensday I deliver the purse and when my friend was opening the present I was really scared "If she doesn't like it at all"... but my friend turned out to be very happy!!

What to you think about my purse??

Thanks for reading!  Smiley

Some days ago, I found an interesting item in this webside and decided to make my own version. The original one was from omgmarissa (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=367826.0)

This is the result:

The small balls are decorative and also can be used to adjust the ribbons.

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Colorful cushion on: January 15, 2011 12:37:58 PM
Last Xmas I made something new: a cushion. I chose a very soft fabric and colorful ribbons! I've never sewed ribbons but I like how they look.
If you want to try it, one tip: don't use pins to hold the ribbon. I made it and I had so many pins I wasn't able to sew!! so, what I did was punting only on tip at the beginning and I held the ribbon with my fingers at the same time I turned the fabric in order to make a rounded shape.
This is the result.

What do you think??

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / snowmen, another version on: December 27, 2010 03:15:31 PM
Some days ago, I saw this interesting topic https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=365508.0 and I decided that this would be the present I would give to my relatives on Xmas (I prefer to make something than writting a postcard...).
I made eleven snowmen and I must to say that I need lots of patience because each cap takes a lot of time. For the face I used egg-shaped porex and added coloured pins as eyes. I add too a little missage wishing everybody a happy Xmas.

This is the whole group of snowmen

A close look of the nicest snowman Wink

My relatives were quite shocked by the present. They liked it very much  Smiley
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I have a fly in my toilet kit!! on: December 27, 2010 03:02:49 PM
Last week my friends and I celebrated Xmas and we made a dinner. We were supposed to take a present so I decided to create it. I thought a toilet kit could be useful for anyone (we didn't know who would have each present) and I tried to make something a little different, funny and unisex. So, this is what I made.

The fly's idea came to my mind when I tried to make a draw with the ribbon and I found it cool. The fly's body would be made with a rolled up ribbon but the wings hat to be more delicate, so I sewed them... Here you have a close look of the fly.

The inside of the toilet kit was made with a waterproof fabric.

Thanks for being there and happy new year!!
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Dog raincoat on: December 11, 2010 08:36:48 AM
Hey there!
Some time ago a colleague told me, that she had problems to find a raincoat for her dog. She wears a harness and standard raincoat holes didn't fit with it. So I thought of making her a new one.
The design I chose was rather simple (I looked some pictures in Internet) but the most difficult part was making it without the model (the dog was at her home and I only had her measurements) and trying to imagine how she would fill it.
And that's the result!!

Both, my colleague and her dog, were quite satisfied with the green raincoat. So do I!  Smiley

Here some more pics:

That chair helped me when I tried to imagine the raincoat on the dog.

If you want to make a raincoat, this picture can be helpful:

I made the raincoat without the harness hole and my colleague draw me where she wanted it. And I made it:

Finally a close look of the hole and the fastener.

One tip: if you want to sew Velcro, put the Velcro facing the lower side of your sewingmachine. Otherwise you will have problems with the thread tension.

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Comic bag on: September 29, 2010 01:57:40 AM
Hi craftsters!! Last month I spent a great deal of time making a new bag. I wanted something nice but tough at the same time, because I would use it for bringing the meal I eat at work, books and folders, a bottle of water... Another thing I had in mind was making a two "position" bag, I mean, a big purse and a backpack (I usually ride a bicycle so in these occasions the backpack  is better).

The design I created for that bag was determined for the fabric I found, a comic fabric. So, I decided to make a comic shape bag.

Every pocket is a sheet. So my comic has 4: two of them in the side (the are independent), and the other two in the middle (they connect with each other, but when I bring the bag like a purse they are like independent pockets).

This is a picture of the central pockets.

And when I want to wear it like a backpack...it looks like that. It loses its comic shape...

I think that a way to improve this bag it's using an interfacing.

I hope you like my bag. Comments are very welcome!! Thanks  Smiley
