21  Re: Dresden Files Swap in The Swap Gallery by AnarchyCupcakes on: September 24, 2011 02:49:49 PM
My package from Songs4Drowning was amazing, and just my taste!

First, I LOVE yarn, especially hand spun yarn... so she sent me some the color of stormy Chicago sky, beautiful plying:

Next, Some "Gentleman Johnny Marcone" money scented candles (my husband is love with these) the color of Marcone's eyes... and some Strawberry Shortcake candles that smell like Lt. Murphy's grandma's house... they smell EXACTLY like strawberry shortcake dolls, and I LOVE all the candles:

Last but not least, an ADORABLE Bob bookmark and a "trashy romance novel" to keep him company.  It's hard to convey how awesome the Bob is, WAY awesome in person

Thank you for such an amazing swap!

Sorry it's taken so long for me to post these!  My AMAZING partner sent me:

An AnarchyCupcake!  My first!

Look at it's widdle face!

And this really amazing cat with a cupcake... two of my favorite things!

Side view... look at her perfect stitches:

Thank you for the great swap, Tygermane!

Received a great box from Sandroo yesterday!

First  a world in a box! You can't see it but it says "Can't stop the signal" around the rim.  Also featured are some honeysuckle candles and beads!

The glass ornament the beads were in sadly didn't make it, but they are beautiful beads.

Next, a beautiful necklace, earring and keychain set:

This rice pillow sampler is my favorite item... wish I could get the pic rotated:

Tote with my favorite quote and beautiful ornaments:

Thank you for a great swap!  I love everything.

24  Spike is Fangtastic (Img heavy) in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by AnarchyCupcakes on: August 11, 2011 07:59:39 PM
So, when my partner for the Whedonverse swap had the quote "I want to keep Spike as my pet" I knew what I wanted to do:

I decided to do more of a character of him than a realistic version, partially because all I had to mold the sculpey with was an xacto knife.  Here's a few of the stages:

Initial blocking

For his teeth, I created them separately and then set them into his mouth.  I wanted them to be distinct because his smirk is the best thing

The eyes took me a while.  It's hard balance of realism and cartoon, so I experimented a bit, and then took the shape of his eyes and just blew 'em up like an anime

Painted with gauche because I like how forgivable it is... if you mess up you can wipe off with water.  Also seems to give more depth on the sculpey than the acrylics.

Later, I very carefully sprayed him with a couple coats of laquer.  This is tricky with the gauche, because it can re-wet it and cause things to pill/run if you're not careful.  It made him nice and shiny, and the few bits that pilled I was able to correct before the laquer dried.  The earring is a piece of chainmail I stole from my husband.

I'm pretty proud of how he turned out, I'm just starting with the sculpey this year!

Talk about spoiled!  I got my package from xTroublex today and it really totally made up for the really crappy month I had in June:

First, this awesome Apothocary Jar (I'm studying medicinal herbalism) I know it's on it's side, but it was the best shot of the amazing bird painting:

Here's the back with the quote (yes, we had the same quote!)

The super awesome contents:

headband, ninja earrings, handmade leaf charms, a magnet with my Bob Dylan Quote, yummy smelling tea, steeping bags, herby soap, wonderful little cloth squinkles (don't know what they're called, but I love them, and I've tried to make them in the past and couldn't, so they are PERFECT)

Close up of the Bob Dylan Magnet, WAY more gorgeous in person, it has this glitter finish that is so my style:

Thank you, xTroublex for such an AMAZING swap.

30  Wicked Witch Hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by AnarchyCupcakes on: January 02, 2011 05:38:52 PM
My sister is a HUGE fan of Wicked, so I decided to make her an Elphelba hat. I'm not so experienced a crochet-er, so I just sort of made it up as I went along...

it's not as lumpy as it looks, though... I stuffed newspaper in it to make it stand up for the picture, and it gave it lumps...
