Pottermouth: It's a definite truth for me too!!!

Class: SoR- Wunjo, Joy!
QUIDDITCH: Bludger to Ravenclaw!
Name: The deer shirt, yule sweater for Victor!
link: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Andreann/anatoles-sweater
Desc: Second try at color work, I took a colorwork pattern from DROPS and edited it slightly (added two stitches). It's in baby merino, SUPER soft. What a better joy than knitting something for a little one and seeing him in it?? (I should update with a picture of that when the light is great!)

Current match will end Wenesday! Gryffindor is way behind, just sayin'.... All can change with a snitch! Gryffindors, score some points! Ravenclaws, secure your win!
I will write an match end date from now on...

pottermouth... We made marshmallows too! here's ours:

Challenge: ~*Have a Drink in the Hog's Head*~
House: Gryffindor
Name: Yums!!
Desc: We made a batch of marshmallows to share with our familly center for the xmas party. They were awesome!!!

(copied from Martha's Stewart site)

Vegetable-oil cooking spray I used olive oil
    2 cups sugar
    1 tablespoon light corn syrup
4 packages (1/4 ounce each) unflavored gelatin
    3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
    2 large egg whites
2 teaspoons red food coloring- I added green too!

    Step 1

Coat an 8-inch square pan with cooking spray; line bottom with parchment paper. Coat the parchment with cooking spray, and set pan aside. . Use your finger and sprend the oil around. Did you know there's propane in the caned stuff?? Anyway... Put sugar, corn syrup, and 3/4 cup water in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Stop stirring; let mixture come to a boil. Raise heat to medium-high; cook until mixture registers 260 degrees on a candy thermometer.
    Step 2

Meanwhile, sprinkle gelatin over 3/4 cup water in a heatproof bowl; let stand 5 minutes to soften. Set the bowl with the gelatin mixture over a pan of simmering water; whisk constantly until gelatin is dissolved. Remove from heat, and stir in extract; set aside.
    Step 3

Beat egg whites in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment until stiff (but not dry) peaks form. Whisk gelatin mixture into sugar mixture; with mixer running, gradually add to egg whites. Mix on high speed until very thick, 12 to 15 minutes.
    Step 4

Pour mixture into lined pan. Working quickly, drop dots of red food coloring across surface of marshmallow. Using a toothpick, swirl food coloring into marshmallow to create a marbleized effect. Let marshmallow stand, uncovered, at room temperature until firm, at least 3 hours or overnight. Cut into squares.

43  Snowman Soaps! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by Mamaneedles on: December 14, 2013 12:09:18 PM

We grated some dove bar and made soapballs. But we didn't stop there. We shaped them into snowman (and snowomans!) and decided they needed some accessorizing! Beads, buttons, bits of felt and some cedars bits.

We're keeping some for ourselves, but we put some into masson jars to offer to family.

Class: History of Magic
House: Gryffindor &Daughter Inc.
Projet Name: Soap Snowman
Desc: We grated dove soap bar to make snowballs. But the fun didn't stop there! We shaped lovely snowmans, and once that done, we couldn't stop there either. I took out my beads supplies and here's the result:

I love how my daughter used buttons to make a necklace for the "mother" and flowers to make a crown!

AD- I can't wait to see that, the ornaments are gorgeous.
Badwulf- I love the pattern you used, and clever choice of color

Thanks for the congrats on being featured! I wonder how they'll like our snowman soaps!

Class: Muggle class
House: Gryffindor
Projet name: Quick vegan pasta sauce
Desc. And recipe:
I can't believe how complicated muggles can be!! I had to use a weird thingy called "can oppener"...twice!!!
The stove is a weird thing aswell... It burns, but there's no fire in it!

Shop half an onion, two carrot, two celeri and half a red bell pepper. With a knife. By hand.
Turn the fancy button of the stove-top to the middle-fire. If your spiral thingy turns red, it's too hot.
Pour olive oil into your big cauldron, on the stove-top spiral thingy that burns without fire. (the cauldron, not the oil!)
Drop your shopped veggies and stir.
Take the can oppener. Be carefull, there's a round blade. you musn't put your finger there!
After figuring out how it works, open a big can of tomato sauce and another big can of diced totatoes. Pour both over the veggies. By hand.
Drop about a cup of red lentils.
Seasons to taste... Pinch of rosemary, marjolaine, pepper, sugar, etc. Remember, by hand always.
Stir once in a while.
You may want to lower your spiral-thingy heat at that point.

It takes about half an hour, depending on how crunchy you like your veggies.

DragonChilde: I will continue with Whistle fish and have you make her a FOX book/journal-cover. That way she can keep using the foxfur into a practical thing over and over again!!!

Whistlefish: Your daughter is so precious! I love her hairs!

Linakins: I'm sorry for your daughter! Hope she recovers well :S

Acadian Driftwood: What a neat idea! Why haven't I ever thought of making those? they are so cool and YAY for Quidditch! We have a tie!!!

46  Re: WWP 46 Yule Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by Mamaneedles on: December 10, 2013 07:01:35 PM
Tonight, after putting all 3 kids to bed at the same time (yeah, really!!!) I had the urge to 1. take out the recycling and composting bin by the road for tomorrow's pick-up and 2. Walk to the mailboxes across the street. And guess what? beautiful package awaiting!!!

I even haven't oppenned it yet that it smelled wonderful.

Brace yourself:

I awed, and I owed and then I huged it.

But then I oppenned the other package:

!!!!!!!!!! She just has the perfect expression on her face! I will cherish it endlessly!

Her new home to protect my kitchen, for everyone to see!

The card and the lavender smelling soap. Both lovely, lovely things!!

Thank you so much Ludi!!!! I'm having a major swap anxiety now!

Linakins- Yay! another flying homework done! The cards are cute.

Dragonchilde: Toe-up, so I wouldn't stress about having enough yarn!

Abbee: Cheesy

Avesthel: This is a pretty scarf.

JellyBean: I LOVE ragrugs (I tried writing a heart but this keyboard won't let me...)

House: Red and Gold all over.
Go-to play dough recipe
Desc: This is the kind of stuff you always need to have on hand. It can turn a terrible too-much-energy kid moment into a delightly calm play in an instant. Here's our stove-brewed play dough recipe:

2 cups wheat flour
1 cup salt
3 teaspoons tartar cream
3 tablespoons oil
2 cups water
You may also want natural colorant, food dyes, essential oils, essences and extracts.

Mix everything in you cauldron and cast a mild fire under it. Stir with your wand until it's smooth. It takes about 5 minutes, but you need to stay and stir or it'll burn and won't be homogenous. Let it cool. Once cool, you can add colorant and scent and mix it in!

Pictured: The Green one had spearmint extracts. Unfortunately my son peed in it the day I made it!
The blue one had geranium EO. Had, because Son broke the jar, with the dough in it, the same day!!
The undyied white one was my favorite. I put vanilla extract and it smelled so wonderfully! but I said was because:
it was merged with the purple one, wich now smells of vanilla-lavender (EO). Still I love it.
And the pink one as orange essence in it. It's slowly becoming brown, because of contact with purple Tongue

and yes, baby Victor is a week shy of 6 month old. I can't beleive it either!

Naantje: I LOVE the tree and the animals! You should have made a unicorn for the CoMC too!! ahah! And congratulations on being the first to return the flying assigment! (it's my class, you know Wink the design is very effective Smiley

Dragonchild: Knitted dishcloths are the best. today I got away with a HUGE ball of cotton that was in a donation box, I will make tons of them with it. I JUST learned to knit socks, and I love them, see:

Class: Alchemy
House: Go Lions!!
Project name: UNICORN FARTS SOCKS!!!!!
Project link: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Andreann/toe-up-knee-high-socks-for-young-children
Desc: Well you all saw the amazing yarn that Abbeeroad dyed and sent me last Back to Hogwarts round. I finally finished turning them into socks. They will be stuffed in my daughter's stocking, of course!!! I LOVE them. First time knitting socks, and two at a time, at that!! There's some leftovers so I think I'll knit a pair for Victoria, her dolly. (why, yes, in my house there's a human baby and a doll almost named the same). It's 100% wool, and 100% happyness!

Class: Herbologie
House: Gryffindor
Projet: The button wreath
Desc.: It might not look like a 30 min. project but I assure you that with the "help" of a 5 and a 3 year old, it did take that amount of time!!
