Great to see you, Pinks!! Please take good care of yourself!
I love that basket, did you use a pattern?

DragonChilde: They ARE really really cute! We can be so hard on ourselves!

Challenge: QUIDDITCH- Scores for the Lions!
Name: The knitted broom
Desc: Solely in an attempt to get us some more points, I sat with some leftover yarn and started an I-cord to make a broom out of it, deciding on the bottom design as I went. I'm pretty happy with my improvisation!

...just saying, another snitch and we Lions can get to the finally! Unless we get hit several times...

Now on to the DA spells that I've learned with Harry!

Challenge: DA Disarming
House: Gryffindor
Desc: We bought a house last summer. It's an old house (1941) and we had painted linoleum over the pine floors in our bedroom (and the other 3 bedroom we have upstairs) So in our way to improvement we had to remove those horid floors. We did two full days of sanding with a rented machine to take the paint out of the floors, too. AND as a bonus, this room also had wallpaper, which I had to remove by hand, peeling the flowers first and then the backpaper with lots of water and a plastic grater. You can see the "before" here. Floors after:

wasn't done with the wallpaper on the picture. I'm keeping the end result (when the floors are coated) for the Fred and George fight back spell Smiley

Challenge DA- Reductor Curse
House: Gryffindor
Desc: I've made a tiny Brighid doll out of embrodery thread for a tiny matchbox Imbolc shrine.

Challenge DA- Stunning Spell
House: Gryffindor
Name: Imbolc tea (Cinnamon heart for grown-ups
Desc: This tea will surely make a great impression on you. It TASTES cinnamon, alot! I wanted to capture the essence of this fire holiday in a cup. I'm pretty proud of the result!!

8 cinnamon sticks, crushed in a mortar
4 tablespoon of Earl Grey
1 teaspoon of Nettle
1 teaspoon of Thyme
1 sachet of Stevia powder ( half a gramme)

Challenge DA- Shield Charm
House: Gryffindor
Name: Felt tent
Desc: I made the orange tent, bigger than those I usually do, to protect a familly of peg people during their camping trips in the mountains

Challenge DA- Protean Charm
House: Gryffindor
Name: The snitch bag
Desc: I've crocheted this little bag with yarn leftover (from the tiny owlet I made last year) and it had a dual purpose: Being thrown everywhere in the house AND holding tiny treasures for my kids. I just did it as I went, following no pattern after looking at some others made on ravelry. Sorry for bad light, I was eager to finally give some points to my team!

Of to count Quidditch points now. Done. You Puffs are on fire!! I guess getting to the finals will be something to throw a party about!

this is fairly big so I'll take one post just for it!

~*COMPLETED OWL*~ be warned, it's picture massive!
OWL Subject: Care of Magical Creature
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: Owls and other woodland creatures
Brief Description: I did several drawings of woodland creatures, mostly owls. I planned to draw 10, endend up with 8, two of them being pretty big (the Unicorn and the Deer). This is exactly what I needed to force myself back into drawing Smiley

Okay, I'm ready to turn on my final papers!! Here's the 3 classes I had left:

Class: Apparition
House: Gryffindor
Name: Lunch box for Papa
Desc.: We moved South from Papa's school, so now he has to cross a bridge pretty much everyday up north to get to his school. So this thing goes up north quite often. It's made of scraps of leather and wool that I treated with beeswax.

Class: Divination
House: Gryffindor
Name: Spiderman Dolly Costume (for Albus)
Desc.: When I saw the assigment for this class I knew it would be spiderman-related. I first thought on a mask for my son, but then, he requested (while being in spideyjamas himself) a suit for Albus. This was quite fun, even if it's not the best constructed thing I ever made! My daughter drew the spider and my son tried to draw the spiderweb on the mask. (he also had to try it on, then tried on his little brother. I'll need to make him one!)

Name: Little Mermaid for Dolly
Desc: The little mermaid is a muggle tale of a quite muggle-looking merpeople who changes into a muggle. Somehow my daugther loves it!

...Please Magpirate, pm with how your project has to do with Quidditch! I'm at lost?...Because of the material? Smiley
I'll update Quidditch later Smiley

Pinks, keep being the awesome person you are. We know only important Ministry Of Magic stuff can keep you away from us!!
Inselaeffchen, thanks for being our pin pixie Smiley hope everyone of yours is okay.
and.. Thank you Miss Jennie for running this thing. It's such a great motivation to craft for me!
Linakins-don't say that! I made a couple of very similar dolls to yours last year as prices for our eggs hunt. Yours turned out better!

House: Gryffindor
Name:Moon lady
desc: this item is for a swap, but I'm not sure the person watch this craftalong...You'll see it fits well into the description of the class Smiley
Image here!

Class:Defence Against the Dark Arts
House: Gryffindor
Name: Un jour la fois
desc: I confess I have a hard time being away from my mom and in-laws. Papa studies from 6 o'clock to 1 am leaving me alone with the kids most of the time, alone to take care of the house and alone with myself -you now know why I'm able to craft for all the classes!- So I used one of my son's (3yr old) painting to make myself a little reminder. I can't really translate it, but Un jour la fois means to take each day as they come, live in the moment and try to worry less.

House: Gryffindor
Name: a hat for Thomas
desc: This is a simple hat for my friend who's expecting a boy any day now. She loves handknit but can't do any. It is a very soft huge merino yarn. I knit it without pattern.

I have my ideas for 2 of the 3 classes left, and I've checked the DA spells list. Merry Wolf Moon everyone!

First check ravelry- Really there's ton of them free. But I found out knitting from scratch to be quite effective too.

Challenge: DA-Signature!
Name: milie, the Winter Doll
desc: When I saw this challenge, I knew I had to turn in a doll! And this is my latest, completed today! She has, like any doll I make, an organic cotton body fill with wool. She is made according to the Waldorf doll technique (or german/europeen style). I made her for a friend that is making us a wooden dollhouse in exchange. Her clothing is mostly knitted with leftover yarn. She even has knitted panties! (more picture at the link)

Class: Arithmancy
House: Gryffindor
Name: Dollhouse familly
Desc: 5! We are now 5 in our family. I always love this number, as it is the usual number of the star in the pentacle, representing earth, air, fire, water and what's holding them together. This project uses the number 5 as each member of our family is depicted as a tiny bendable, fully unclothable dollhouse doll.

I love the new Bean, Mistress Jennie!
And @everyone: Yay! there's a lot of participation in Quidditch and I receive a lot of Flying assigments, keep going!

Class: Fyling!
House: Gryffindor
Quidditch: Bludger to Ravenclaw!!
Name: Cheesy kids mug
Desc: We have a thing for mugs and tea cups. Our best is that we've been English in several previous life, seeing the amount of tea and coffee we drink in a day. The only glass we own has an handle. Thus, making a mug with our children on it would be the perfect thing for Papa to have in St.Muggo's (where he's studying) to keep the floo powder handy, for his principal destination each day is home. It says "Merry Winter Solstice!" Mariann chose the wintery layout. It took a lot of time and chocolate to get the 3 willing to pose for this!

..and as requested:

He does smile like that all the time. He's adorable. And why, yes, my kitchen is pink. (and that's the trunk Abbee made me!) And the weird pants are old sleeves that are sewn at the end. And I knit the flap too thight and it desesperatly needs ironning but I guess moving 3 times in a year made me loose my iron... Sad

Pottermouth: It's a definite truth for me too!!!

Class: SoR- Wunjo, Joy!
QUIDDITCH: Bludger to Ravenclaw!
Name: The deer shirt, yule sweater for Victor!
link: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Andreann/anatoles-sweater
Desc: Second try at color work, I took a colorwork pattern from DROPS and edited it slightly (added two stitches). It's in baby merino, SUPER soft. What a better joy than knitting something for a little one and seeing him in it?? (I should update with a picture of that when the light is great!)

Current match will end Wenesday! Gryffindor is way behind, just sayin'.... All can change with a snitch! Gryffindors, score some points! Ravenclaws, secure your win!
I will write an match end date from now on...

pottermouth... We made marshmallows too! here's ours:

Challenge: ~*Have a Drink in the Hog's Head*~
House: Gryffindor
Name: Yums!!
Desc: We made a batch of marshmallows to share with our familly center for the xmas party. They were awesome!!!

(copied from Martha's Stewart site)

Vegetable-oil cooking spray I used olive oil
    2 cups sugar
    1 tablespoon light corn syrup
4 packages (1/4 ounce each) unflavored gelatin
    3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
    2 large egg whites
2 teaspoons red food coloring- I added green too!

    Step 1

Coat an 8-inch square pan with cooking spray; line bottom with parchment paper. Coat the parchment with cooking spray, and set pan aside. . Use your finger and sprend the oil around. Did you know there's propane in the caned stuff?? Anyway... Put sugar, corn syrup, and 3/4 cup water in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Stop stirring; let mixture come to a boil. Raise heat to medium-high; cook until mixture registers 260 degrees on a candy thermometer.
    Step 2

Meanwhile, sprinkle gelatin over 3/4 cup water in a heatproof bowl; let stand 5 minutes to soften. Set the bowl with the gelatin mixture over a pan of simmering water; whisk constantly until gelatin is dissolved. Remove from heat, and stir in extract; set aside.
    Step 3

Beat egg whites in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment until stiff (but not dry) peaks form. Whisk gelatin mixture into sugar mixture; with mixer running, gradually add to egg whites. Mix on high speed until very thick, 12 to 15 minutes.
    Step 4

Pour mixture into lined pan. Working quickly, drop dots of red food coloring across surface of marshmallow. Using a toothpick, swirl food coloring into marshmallow to create a marbleized effect. Let marshmallow stand, uncovered, at room temperature until firm, at least 3 hours or overnight. Cut into squares.

40  Snowman Soaps! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by Mamaneedles on: December 14, 2013 12:09:18 PM

We grated some dove bar and made soapballs. But we didn't stop there. We shaped them into snowman (and snowomans!) and decided they needed some accessorizing! Beads, buttons, bits of felt and some cedars bits.

We're keeping some for ourselves, but we put some into masson jars to offer to family.
