You all started so strong!!! I must say the flying homework are stunning!!!! I will make one of the hyppogriph! And I'm a little late, but the theo's doll new suit is very lovely.

Badwulf, The lego quilt is so great! I know a little boy that would be over the moon to have it!
Antbee, that cap is to die for!! and the little model too!
Erin, the woodgrain of the bats are perfect!
Techni, I love how you put snow on the roses. Tattoo watercolor style is hard and you seems to master it! I LOVE it!
Moonflame... fabulus gloves! the color is so great.

Sorry not to comment on everyone....But now I'm up to date, at least!! Hi new students!!!

And here is my completed NEWT:
NEWT Subject: Transfiguration
House: Gryffindor (Quidditch score!)
Project Name: Winter coat, and mittens
Brief Description: I made a winter coat for my daughter using a wool blanket someone gave me some years ago, because it was red, and apparently, all red things are mine.
I also used a piece of fur I bought for a snow knight costume. I used a coat we found as the lining, so I save a huge amount of time in term of sewing and planning since I only made an outer shell with the blanket. With the remainings (both of fabric and newt-time) I made myself a pair of mittens! the inside of those are old sweater, so very comfy!
the label on the blanket said: Regent Fabric- Mothproofed- 1952 Cheesy
Project Picture:

and the mittens:

I have a question about last semester's giveaway. Do we have to draw the winners ourselves of you'll do it, Mistress Jennie?

Quidditch Pitch!!

image from google

For this semester I've changed the concept a bit. I'll invite you to recycle, reuse, repurpose, rearrange, and be resourceful!

The points you make will be for your house. The points you take away you must choose one of the other 3 Houses.

You can score a goal (10 pts) by crafting with a thrifted object.
Ex : my beloved kids pants from sweater sleeves. A pair of yoga pants from a maternity pants. Transform a birdhouse from a yard sale.
You can also score a goal by rearranging a room to make it more functional.
By opting to by to buy used instead of new (a couch, a coat!) and put your personal touch to it.

You can hit with a bludger (take away 10 pits from another House) by using your stash.
Use all that yarn your great aunt gave you. And that fabric you bought *cough* 4 years ago.
By re-purposing a piece of furniture.
By doing something with all those toilet paper rolls.

For this semester, you'll only be able to catch a snitch once (150pts), with a Quidditch related project.

Gryffindor: -90
Hufflepuff: -30
Ravenclaw: -50
Slytherin: -70

blupaisan hits gryffindor
AD hits S
sammylouise hits R
Erin scores for S
Midskiffjoy scores for G
Antbee hits someone but we don't know who!
AD goal for H and hits G
samash90 hits 3 houses
Inselaeffchen hits G
Moonflame hits the 3 houses
Moonflame hits S
coulsini hits G
Erin hits G and H
Moonflame hits Gryff twice and once each other houses
Maman Tattoo hits the 3 other houses once
Gaudiknight hits S
Moonflame hits S and G and scores for H
Calliemae hits G and H
Moonflame hits The snakes
Gaudiknight scores for the Puffs

Any course, owls and newts and house unity are elligible for quidditch points. You can also submit stand-alone Quidditch project. However, Quidditch points does not count as House points.

Flying: In order to better your flying aptitude this semester, you must study a creature that is able to fly on its own, magical or not. See how elegantly a pegasus take its flight, how sturdy is the hippogriff. Look at a bird's or a pixie's wings and create something that depict a flying creature or wings.

take great care of yourself!! we will wait no problem Smiley
Meanwhile, people can still play Quidditch! I'll try updating the pitch today. I love how people participate!

I found this:

So I actually didn't need to do an inner linnig!!! Talk about time saving!
So now I'm almost done. I'm doing a bit of hand-stitching and I'll be finished.
I also made myself a pair of mittens with the red, and I'm making a mason jar isolation for Papa's morning coffee.
After that I'll still have a bit of remnant but not much to do anything.
This blanket will be Transfigured indeed, but in not enough time for a NEWT...I might embrodery the coat??

Wow!!! The dress is impressive!

I have a quickie too!

Challenge: Madam Puddifoot's Valentine Tea Party
Quidditch: Score for Slytherin
House Gryffindor

Desc: I was going to make a regular woolen jumper (? it's salopette in French) but next to me was scraps of the red wool since I cut Mariann's coat (I sewn the outer shell!) so the thing was calling for heart knee-pads.

Challenge: DA-Help the Room of Requirement
Quidditch- Hit Hufflepuff!
House: Gryffindor
Name: Laundry Basket
Desc: When I saw Pinkleo's crocheted basket I knew it what just what I needed. I used the box of yarn ends I have. I made it for my girl to haul her cloth upstairs. Now I'm making one for my son too!

NEWT Subject: Transfiguration
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Child Winter Wool Coat
Brief Description: I will turn this wool and that fleece blankets into a warm, cory long coat with a hood for my big girl, because she wants a long winter coat like mommy. I'm not using a pattern so I need to draft one. I will most likely make a "practice" coat with an old bedsheet before cutting in the good stuff. I will use twig buttons and might also embellish the hood with fur like my friend did.

In case some of you were in need of delicious baby cheeks:

Challenge: Quidditch! Bludger hits Hufflepuffs!!
House: Gryffindor
Name: Leftover pants
Desc: I'm using the sleeve and a rest of two different sweaters to make those cozy warm pants for that cloth diapered little bum.

Challenge:  Quidditch! Bludger hits Hufflepuffs!!
House: Gryffindor
Name: Simple animal skirt
Desc: this is a simple waist-gathered skirt made with the leftover of my daugther's quilt for the white parsley, and from my son's quilt for the animal fabric.

I'm rethinking the Quidditch concept for next semester, if you still want me to organize it! I kind of wipped it up as I went this time, and realized too late Slytherin hadn't played with Gryffindor and neither Ravenclaw against Hufflepuff. Sorry! It'll be more carefully planned out next semester.
I'll have to have a chat with the High Ladies Smiley

30  Re: WWP Round 47 Gallery - Goddess Shrine Swap (Sendout 1/26/2014) in The Swap Gallery by Mamaneedles on: February 06, 2014 07:30:00 AM
It's the first time it happens to me in 40 packages, so I guess yours is probably fine, Mandy!!

I got the most beautiful Goddess Shrine from Heather (craftypuppymom). Very toughfull and not overcrowded.

without the doll and knitted leaf to see the beautiful image Smiley The chains had fallen, so I glued it back. I was actually relieved it was just that, because it made the whole package sound like something was broken!!

The lovely corn doll! and The knitted clover! and a lavender sachet! and a led candle. Genious! I could easily had to it too!
She was thoughtfull enough to make it closed, so the kids will be less tempted to touch!! (it's hard to open too!)
Thank you so much! I love it, love the color of it and it's now displayed in my craft room Cheesy

And there's what I had made that was lost:

tiny matchbox Imbolc shrine with a silver moon, two wool lambs in the background, a seed, a candle and a tiny Brighid doll.
