22  humongo doily and christmas afghan (angel too if interested) in Crochet: Completed Projects by momcuellar on: December 08, 2010 11:53:32 AM
So I like making doilys with regular yarn and I hooks.  They come out huge!!  The afghan is all cluster stitches.  The angel come from an old Magazine I picked up at the used book store.  I'm thinking of mounting the huge doily onto one of those big lots  3 dollar fleece blanket  maybe green or yellow  any thoughts?

Until posting her picture here, I never noticed how angry the angel  was!!

23  more christmas ornaments in Winter Holidays by momcuellar on: December 08, 2010 11:42:17 AM
I made these with a little fabric, buttons, embroidery, and crochet edging.  Just cut 2 circles of fabric, sew right sides together leaving a small opening to stuff.  Turn right side out, stuff a little.  Sew opening shut.  Blanket stitch around the outside.  Crochet an edging.  Decorate as needed.  I sewed buttons, and embroidered on them before I sewed the circles together.  Next year, I think I'll try stars and bell shapes.  I'm almost christmas crafted out this year!! Notice how I said almost.  Who knows, there's 2 weeks left!!

24  crochet wreath in Crochet: Completed Projects by momcuellar on: December 06, 2010 11:37:39 AM
I also made this Crochet Wreath.  I got this pattern from a 70's crochet magazine.  It was difficult to make because of the the repetition of the 18 chain loops!!  I pinned everything in so I could use it all year long!!

25  Crochet Bethlehem star in Crochet: Completed Projects by momcuellar on: December 06, 2010 11:13:50 AM
I got the pattern from Better Homes and Gardens Christmas Through the House.  It's supposed to be thread crochet, but I had glittery Christmas yarn and decided to make it bigger.  By chance, it fit within a 12 inch embroidery hoop, and I basted onto star light fabric and added shiny ribbon to hide the loop screw tightening thingy.  I am quite proud of it!!

angel floral arrangement

I got the pattern for the tree from a magazine from the 80's!

I put a tree in my garage/bedroom.  It's all the handcrafted (by me and by others) ornaments my daughter won't put on the main tree in the living room!!

27  back to 1979 to pick up an unfinished project in Needlework: Completed Projects by momcuellar on: November 18, 2010 11:59:25 AM
My co-workers sister found this kit at the thrift store and gave it to me.  I put it away for a few weeks, but with Christmas coming, thought it woul be good to finish them.  Back in 1979, Sandra Lawrence had finished the reindeer and santa.  She signed her name on the cardboard she used as a backing and dated it. They came with these red plastic ornament shaped frames.  When I took up the first strand of floss to begin finishing the snowman, I got chills.  It's as if Ms. Lawrence was glad to be remembered.  I finished the snowman and the bear.  I decided that the plastic frames were not a good enough tribute, so I crocheted a lace around them.  I hope Ms. Lawrence doesn't mind.  Here they are.

28  I didn't make her 60's she just wanted to be that way!! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by momcuellar on: November 18, 2010 11:46:41 AM
this doll just took over when I started to dress her!!  She just didn't think I would fail at every attempt to make her go-go boots!!  I think she needs a lot more accessories, bracelets, scarf, some cool edging on her dress.  Any thoughts?

The white mark on her face was from me trying to undo the first face i put on her.

I kit up my projects in freezer bags too.  Then I lay them out at my project table.  It's so much better when you know what you have to finish and whats next on the agenda.

Here are a few projects that were given away to friends to cheer them up, or some went to the pedi floor of the hospital I work at.  The afghan is being used as a rug in my bedroom.

I went fanatic with the round ripples and made a couple more.  One was a gift and the other is waiting for March to be put on my sofa, along with it's matching doily.

Ooh, I forgot.  I love the hats!!  It's fun using team colors!!

Oooh bean bags!!  I wonder if the dog would like a few for Christmas?

30  crinoline project in Completed Projects by momcuellar on: November 10, 2010 10:38:24 AM
I had a burst of creative energy, a crocheted crinoline lady (from Handmade Magazine) all crocheted, and an empty canvas and boom!! I added a few beads and ribbon for texture.  What kind of frame should I use?

here's a closeup
