1  Re: Under the Sea Nursery. (Many photos) in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by nattheghost on: January 06, 2011 05:49:38 AM
Thanks everyone! Grin

I didn't really have a pattern. The only thing I did was look up pictures of fish online and paint from that. Although, I did take the liberty to create some of my own fish here and there Smiley I did the same with the pirate ship, I looked up a cartoon pirate ship and painted from that.

Here's a couple of Nemos (Nemoes?) !

2  Under the Sea Nursery. (Many photos) in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by nattheghost on: January 05, 2011 05:08:10 PM
I did this a few months ago but haven't had time to post lately. My cousin was having a baby so she asked me to paint the baby's room. The theme was "Under the Sea" (I posted a cake I did for her baby shower back around September.)

Here are a few before pics.

And beginning the mural...

And Skipping ahead to the finished product...

The shark is my favorite part. I tried to make him friendly looking so it didn't scare the little guy when he gets older. Smiley The whole thing took me about a week and a half to complete, which isn't too bad for my first ever room mural. Hope you all enjoyed it, thanks for allowing me to share!

3  Under the Sea Cake. in Dessert by nattheghost on: September 27, 2010 07:47:17 AM
A few days ago I did this cake for my cousin's baby shower. The theme of the nursery is under the sea, so that sort of carried over into the shower. My sister did the baking (as I am not very good at it) and I did the design, construction, and decoration. Everyone seemed to love it and said it tasted great.

The little fish are made from fondant, as are the pearls. The shells are made from white chocolate. The "sand" is brown sugar.

4  Pumpkin cake in Dessert by nattheghost on: September 11, 2010 11:58:17 AM
Last year for Halloween my sister and I made this cake for a Halloween party. She is in charge of the baking because I am terrible at baking (and she isn't) and I have very little patience for making the cake. But I love thinking of ideas and constructing and decorating.

We made it by baking 2 bunt cakes out of spice cake. Then we just flipped one over and used it on the bottom. We used a home made butter-cream frosting and I got it to be a pumpkin color. The stem is made out of gumpaste that I had held up with dowels inside the hollow center of the bunt cakes.

5  First ever quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by nattheghost on: September 11, 2010 11:46:41 AM
I have never made a quilt in my life, but recently went to a community quilt workshop where we made quilt squares by using iron on fusing (Sorry if thats not what it's called, I dont know technical terms at all). It was really easy so my cousin and I decided to make our own for another cousin who was pregnant.

We got a bunch of friends and family together and had them all make squares. It was really nice because hardly any of us can sew, so the fact that we just had to cut out shapes and iron them on made everyone more inclined to participate.

After that my mom and I sewed it together, and we had never sewed a quilt ever, but I think it turned out pretty well. And it got applause at the baby shower too Smiley
