Badwolf: I love the texture on those bookmarks! And those little bowls are darling.
Wulf: I was excited to see what you'd make, and wow! You do not disappoint! That shrine is WONDERFUL!
Phizzychick: Your altered books are always wonderful, and this is no exception! It's a wonderful palette.

OKAY -- I received a wonderful package from spazgirl1981 yesterday! And let me say, she really spoiled me! I'm still a baby pagan, and receiving WWP swaps is still a novel and wonderful thing to me. I don't have many pagan friends to share my excitement for the holiday with, so this swap was especially special to me. C:

Behold! The bevy of autumnal goodness!

She made twenty pages for my BOS. TWENTY! All perfectly sized for my half-pint binder. And beautifully painted Samhain pumpkin (only one side pictured, but it has a god and goddess symbol, a broom, and a bubbling cauldron. God and goddess candle holders, a rainbow of candles, and a clutch of tea lights, a teeny tiny blank book, perfect for a pocket companion, a glass bottle filled with sea salt, a wonderful cluster of crystals, cornucopia filled with fall leaves, and the prettiest candle snuffer! She was concerned it was too blingy, but it's PERFECT and I love it!!

All the small things were packed up in lovely little orange burlap bags and decorated in fall-colored butterfly clips.

Thank you so much for everything, spazgirl!! I'm so delighted by all the things you sent; thank you thank you thank you!!

Oh my goodness that narwhal is too precious!

The wolpertinger is great! And so fitting, given the crowd!  Wink I love it.

I! Had the pleasure today of receiving from the inimitably wonderful emilywilde! She said in her note that this was a difficult swap for her, but I think she hit it out of the park.

She calls this first lovely thing the nightmare moth. It has a bristle of teeth for a head and an eyeball on its tail (I LOVE teeth and eyeballs). The cocoon dangling over the top of the frame is purposefully reminiscent of a fang or tusk AND it glows in the dark (yes, I dashed immediately into the bathroom to perform Science, and it does indeed -- the moth's teeth also glow, which delights me to no end).

She chose to do a moth based on a story her mom told her. She lived in Guam for a while and the locals told them about a moth that could kill just by touch, and Emily thought about how that kind of fear could warp a person's perspective.

The second item just tickles me to no end. I mentioned liking things that are creepy/cute, and she made this adorable soft monster with a snaggletooth mouth for a face that wears a precious clay mask (which also glows!) based loosely on plague doctor masks.

Thank you so much, Emily! The thought and care you put into every aspect of this swap is immediately evident, and I adore everything you sent me.

I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow, but to my delight my package from Zalphinian arrived today!

She sent me this ENORMOUS hanging jar filled with seasonal pretties:

Along with this lovely card and a small hanging with a seasonal prayer of thanks (both of which immediately found their way onto the wall in my studio).

Thank you so much, Zal!! I love it, I'm going to hang the jar on the porch as soon as I'm finished typing this up.

5  Re: Woodland Creature & Enchanted Forest Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by kaitibeeps on: June 30, 2014 07:27:23 PM
Oh, Blu, Im so glad that you liked your package! I made the paper dolls base in photoshop, and after printing her out I gave her a backing and layered paper, washi tape, etc on for her dress. The book was gussied up a la this great  tutorial by Arachnea, which I've had earmarked for a while. C:

ON TO the very exciting part of this post! I received this box of treasures today!

I cannot gush enough about the beautiful treats blu sent me!

First there's this precious altered tin, containing a wee forest and a darling unicorn pegasus, complete with tiny wings. I'm going to mount this on the wall in my office as soon as I finish writing this, because I absolutely want to look into my own little enchanted forest whenever I'm feeling weary.

Blu also made this wonderful fairy house, which is made from a whole sycamore branch, which she painstakingly hollowed out by hand, so the tower has no seams. (!!!!) You can't tell in the photo, but roof is on a hinge, and inside is a tiny light, so that when you turn it on, the little colored windows will shine. It's so quaint and darling, I love how natural it looks!

We have a lot of fairy-themed decorations in our house, and it fits right in. C:

And then there is this gorgeous picture. It was her first foray into meticulous world of stippling, and wow. I've included a close up so you can get a better idea of sheer amount of work that went into this.

I adore it!! I showed it to my girlfriend and she said asked if it was something I had commissioned because it's so in line with my tastes.

I could not have asked for a more wonderful partner; blu, thank you so much!! ;//♢//; The care you put into your crafts is amazing and I feel so lucky to have been your swap partner!
