Don't forget to add a filter if you add fish - otherwise you'll have some pretty scummy water pretty fast.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Looking for crafty wedding jewelry! on: April 13, 2005 10:21:26 AM
Anyone want to recommend themselves, their websites, or their friends for hand-crafted jewelry, specifically necklaces and earrings for me for my wedding attire?  I am having a fall wedding too so bonus points for fall colors or themes (like leaves).

Thanks!  I'd rather give money to you gals than the wedding industry!

Candles at the top sound dangerous for beta fish, who breathe air at the surface of the water.  I'm sure it was fine, but I would hesitate to recommend that to anyone.  Beta fish have such crappy lives compared to most fish anyway, since they're often kept in tiny bowls with no filtration, that I'd hope for better for them!  But that's just me.

What about an old vintage soup pot?

One idea I just thought of - get small glass bottles with corks - cut a slit in the cork to hold the place card, and then fill the bottle with a candy and a message saying thanks for sharing our day, etc.

"Put a little salt on the penny, and then add vinegar with an eyedropper or spoon. Rub the salt around, and the penny will be really bright and clean! You have to then rinse it and dry really well."

This didn't work for us at all.

That's a cool idea but I think I'd have to anchor them somehow - the cards will be on a table in a hallway and I would hate to think of people's names flying everywhere!

How did you know?  =)  Yes, THE safety pin will be on my person when we tie the knot.  =)

Oh, but it's October 8th and the colors will be fall colors...
