1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Color input needed for shawl for bridesmaid's dress on: January 09, 2006 06:54:43 PM
I am a bridesmaid wearing yellow, and I wanted to make a faroese shawl (a May wedding may be crisp), so I ordered some lighter yellowish yarn -- and the color is not quite what I expected.  I would really appreciate it if you could tell me if it goes well together.

The pics are at the following link, under the title "Safe from the crackhouse":

Thanks in advance!

PS  If you do have a substitute suggestion, basically I need either fingering or laceweight and I don't want acrylic or mohair, but my main concern is color.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Yorkie in wheatear cabled sweater (come for the yorkie, stay for the sweater) on: December 28, 2005 05:13:45 PM

So quick to knit for such a wee thing.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Shoulda been a circular vest --> cocoon shrug on: December 28, 2005 05:12:58 PM
Because I didn't check my gauge and I was on vacation and therefore unwilling to plan, this was 2x the width I should have done for a circular vest with sleeves.  So instead (once I thread in the ends, anyway), cocoon shrug! Ta-dah! Would that all my mess ups could still be wearable.

Gift for happy friend in handpainted yarn I got off Ebay. Single-ply merino lace, my first time going so very fine. The seafoam pattern is so easy and fun, and the final results lovely.

Would have made it longer, but I ran out of yarn.

EDIT:  STITCH PATTERN AVAILABLE HERE:  http://knitting.about.com/library/blseafoam.htm Really easy and fun!

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / long time -- a few projects! cap, scarflets, Victorian-inspired cardigan on: October 16, 2005 01:31:56 PM

And I updated my blog with WIPs to attest to my inability to finish a project - oy!

I missed you guys/gals! I hope you are all well!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Harry Potter Knitting Quotes on: July 23, 2005 04:19:56 PM
Do you like Harry Potter?
Do you like Knitting?
They go together!

Dobby is making them himself, sir! the elf said happily. He is buying the wool out of his wages, sir! The left sock was bright red and had a pattern of broomsticks upon it; the right sock was green with a pattern of Snitches.
-- Dobby, Goblet of Fire (2000)

Im a really slow knitter without magic.
-- Hermione Granger, Order of the Phoenix, by J.K. Rowling (2003)

"I'm absolutely exhausted and I want to make some more hats tomorrow. Listen, you can help me if you like, it's quite fun, I'm getting better, I can do patterns and bobbles and all sorts of things now."
-- Hermione Granger, Order of the Phoenix (2003)

No, I was merely reading the Muggle magazines. I do love knitting patterns.
-- Dumbledore, The Half-Blood Prince (2005)

Yes, I am a knitter and a dweeb. I actually noted these instances as I read these tomes over the last 3-4 days. I'm going to be rereading the first 2 novels soon, so perhaps I'll find that there is at least one knitting ref in every one of her HP books so far!
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Another flutter top! on: July 14, 2005 07:36:36 PM
I wrote a pattern up for this one!

<<<edited to remove broken hotlinked image  Sad (website no longer exists)>>>

Thanks for looking!  Pattern is on my site.

EDIT 8/18/05:
Hello all,

I wanted to let you know that I'm working on a clarification of the pattern, which will be sent (free, of course) to all those who've already purchased the pattern.  I'm going to make a whole other one, and take pictures along the way, making clarifications and prettifying revisions--the revision will be like a tutorial.  Unfortunately I'm going on a trip, too, so this will take me 2-3 weeks (eek!).

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Tank and shrug set - corset inspired on: July 14, 2005 07:34:31 PM
Here's another pattern I drew up that's super easy in a lovely peacock green.

The back view:

Just the tank:

The shrug is a gift. The tank was supposed to be too, but I made it too small for the recipient.  I must redo it...
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / 2-day summer halter top! LACE! on: July 14, 2005 07:28:59 PM
Hi all, I haven't posted in ages, but I was very busy setting up my new website.  I made up this pattern to sell for a nominal fee.  Do you like it? It was really fun to figure out the diamond -- but I must have started over about a dozen times!  The lace is beautiful -- I'm gonna make a winter scarf out of it soon!

The back!
