1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Witchy/Goth Cosmetics Bag on: September 22, 2017 12:36:17 PM

My makeup collection has multiplied out of control over the past year, and for a while I was using three different bags to carry everything, so I finally started browsing around for a large, boxy cosmetics bag that could hold everything. When I didn't find anything I loved, I decided to suck it up, pull out the sewing machine for the first time in years, and make one of my own.

I'm ecstatic over how it came out, considering I haven't done a large sewing project in seven or eight years, and I'm looking forward to making a few more for friends.

The pattern I used came from The Seasoned Homemaker: https://www.seasonedhomemaker.com/diy-zippered-box-pouch-tutorial/
Although I increased the dimensions by two inches when I was cutting the fabric to be sure I could fit more items inside.

I got the fabric in the Halloween section of JoAnn Fabrics. (The inside/zipper pulls are just a dark gray that I found in the single fat quarters section.)
2  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Ballerina needle holder on: August 20, 2009 08:38:48 AM
While cleaning my room for the move, I figured that if I'm planning to take my knitting things with me to college in a week then I should probably have a much neater way to keep them organized than just the box that I throw everything in right now.
So I got out my SnB book (and considered making the tote, as well, but I have enough of those already) and used the pattern in that.  I only used two material designs, though, instead of the suggested four.
Here's the culmination of an estimated six hours of measuring, cutting, and sewing in the name of my roommates' sanity and safety.

As you can see, I don't have many needles yet (though I have two more sets in projects right now), but they still get messy quickly.

Thanks for looking!
:]
