11  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / cardboard pringles can giraffe on: June 25, 2014 06:26:39 PM
I was a part of the most recent Once You Pop swap and I'm really proud of how my can turned out!! I constructed the head out of cardboard, covered it in painter's tape and painted it. I hope you find it as adorable as I do! Smiley

12  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Alice in Wonderland Tea Party mixed media on: June 22, 2014 04:54:34 PM
I combined my love of working with book pages and my desire to make a piece involving multiple canvases. I had an Alice in Wonderland book that I used pages from for a swap years ago so I seemed natural to do an Alice in Wonderland piece.

13  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Nightmare Before Christmas Mayor lamp on: January 26, 2014 09:53:09 AM
I found a cute little round lamp at a thrift store a few years ago. With the help of my husband we finally came up with a good idea to put it to use.  Grin

The lamp shade is painted one both sides so you can change his face. The hat is built out of cardboard and covered in fabric. I left it hollow so heat can escape from the top.

14  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Cartoon Network swap? on: April 18, 2013 05:07:26 PM
Recently Netflix added a slew of Cartoon Network shows and I have refound my love for The Powerpuff Girls! I also love The Brak Show and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. There were so many great Cartoon Network cartoons which would make for an awesome colorful swap, anyone in if I organize?
15  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Fallout Monopoly on: April 17, 2013 01:35:45 PM

My husband spent 8 months making this for me as a birthday gift. He posted it on Reddit last week and IGN, CNET and various other websites wrote articles about it. He doesn't have a Craftster account but I felt it belonged here to help inspire other crafters.

He started with the Monopoly board and kept the concept of buying properties and the last player standing wins. The rest of the game however has been enhanced.

He burnt the Fallout logo into a jewelry box that he found at a thrift store.

Here is a picture of the board with Fallout related properties from all versions of the game. (Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas)

The first level of the box includes the currency, the cards, the perks, mines and houses.

The drawer includes the tokens, the board and The Wasteland Survival Guide (the manual).

Here are the tokens. Liberty Prime was made out of pieces of Iron Man, Captain America and several army men. He also made a Pipboy 3000, Abraxo cleaner, a Poseidon Energy gas pump, a Nuka Cola machine, a Vault-Tec lunchbox and a six pack of Nuka Cola.

Here's a close up of the Pipboy because it is just so damn impressive!

Here are the properties and the currency. (Nuka Cola Quartz $1, Nuka Cola $5, Nuka Cola Fusion $10, Nuka Cola Quantum $20, Nuka Cola Victory $50, Sunset Sarsaparilla $100, Sunset Sarsaparilla Star $500)

An example of some of the Vault-Tec cards. He made over 100 different ones! There are attack cards that cause other players to lose money. There are gambling cards for the casino properties and several others.

And lastly, some of the perks and what they do. You get one to start out and more as you collect all of one property color.

He put so much time and creativity into this! I am fairly crafty but couldn't imagine modifying a game and coming up with so many new rules. We have played a few times already with friends and it is so much fun!! Thanks for looking! <3
16  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / current video game swap on: April 17, 2013 12:27:40 PM
I know that we just had a video game themed swap but there have been a few great games to come out since that swap started. Like Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider! I have more retro game crafts in my game room than anything else and I would love to show some love for newer games, who's with me?
17  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Billy Corgan magazine collage on: January 27, 2013 07:20:58 PM
I had this idea and started it about 6 1/2 years ago but it got put aside for whatever reason and I never went back to it until now. I think I was afraid of how much work it would be and afraid I got in over my head. My husband is a HUGE Smashing Pumpkins fan and his favorite color is purple. This is a magazine collage of a very iconic Billy Corgan pose done on an 8X10 canvas.

I chose the paper craft category since it is made from magazine clippings, I hope this is the appropriate category.

18  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / kitty afghan on: November 07, 2012 08:53:02 PM
I found this cute pattern online (www.craftdesigns4you.com) a while ago and decided to make it for my Grandma for Christmas. I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn! Tweed colors to give it a homey country feel and used the shell stitch to add a ruffly border. Sorry for the bad pictures, it's hard to take pictures of blankets!

19  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / bird cage mixed media on: November 04, 2012 06:06:06 PM

I had this idea for quite a while after seeing this at a local Hobby Lobby:

I loved the metal bird cage and the shadow box effect. There was a lot and error in the construction of the frame. I made a smaller prototype to use for experimenting and found that two canvases, a foam board, hot glue and a staple gun were the way to go. The pages are from an old beat up copy of Alice in Wonderland that I purchased at a thrift store for another project a few years ago. The more time consuming challenge was locating a usable wire bird cage which I ended up finding by change at a craft store.

I am very pleased with the final product and can't wait for the varnish to dry so I can hang it on my wall!

20  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / owls made with fabric and buttons on canvas on: November 02, 2012 06:28:18 PM

Got the idea last night and worked on it all day. Finally made some use out of the fabric I have purchased over the years. I love how it turned out!
