WOW! Way to McGyver up something cute and useful!

Funny you should say it that way, as I was finishing I told my husband that I felt like the McGyver of crafts lol.

My husband and I like to make each other birthday gifts every year which means lots of time spent in separate rooms working on each other's presents. With both of our birthdays around the corner I decided to build a privacy screen, we have always wanted one but they are generally out of our price range. I used mostly things I already had laying around the house (a printer box, some old curtains, leftover furniture paint, duct tape), all together I had to spend $14 for 2 bottles of spray adhesive and a roll of ribbon. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out for just winging it!

Here it is all finished:

And here are a few in progress shots:

This is soooo gorgeous!!  I wonder if the baby will look upon it as a sort of protector who looks out over the room all of the time. The eyes are awesome.

Maybe? I just hope he's not afraid of it!

I'm not the mother type myself but when my friends decide to have kids I enjoy making gifts for the baby or for the nursery. So when my friend told me that he and his wife were making a little den for their first child I immediately knew that I wanted to make faux taxidermy! I found the pattern on Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/transaction/1314512865) and made two slight modifications, I didn't want to make it in purple and I wasn't really fond of the lips.

We are our own worst critics and sometimes you are too close to something to see it clearly. So many times I have hated something when I first finish and then when I go back and look at pictures later I realize it was actually pretty good. I don't know who Carl is but these look pretty good to me, I agree that I like the one on the right better. I think when you look back on these later with fresh eyes you will see the good. Smiley
