I am interested in this, but we'll see where we're at come Saturday night. Sign ups open 'til Sunday night, right? Sweet.
3342  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap Round 14 (signup Oct.2-22, sendouts Nov.22) on: October 20, 2010 02:33:16 PM
So, I'm on swap hiatus right now because I need to be working on Cmas presents, but not doing swaps makes me so unproductive at least crafty-wise! Should I join?! I should I refrain?! I love MYBs! I even made one for my large in the MAF swap! What to do?!
3343  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday 15 Oct 2010 on: October 16, 2010 10:01:55 AM
Miss Muppy, drowning is beautiful, which is something I never thought I would say! Beginner yarn is awesome! (and I'm not jsut saying that because I'm a beginner myself!) Those are great first Fiber Friday posts.

MLF, I don't know if you posted that last week but I do recall you at least mentioned it. Either way I love it. I see baby stuff made out of that.
3344  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Ruffled Rosette Pillow on: October 16, 2010 05:30:06 AM
Well, it's just what it sounds like. You make things for someone else and they make things for you. Usually a theme involved. Go check out the Organized Craft Swap board; they'll explain it better than I could. I am on swap hiatus for an undetermined amount of time. Sad

I feel like I should know what "wisting" is....but I don't! Smiley
You are obviously NOT a swapper.
A wist is like a collection of things on the internet that you have seen and loved and wanted. I think of it as my "wish list." I think mine is linked in my signature.
3346  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Apple Bucket Pin Up on: October 15, 2010 06:28:59 AM
I was in the Pin Up swap and I wanted to make an apron for my partner and I found some apple fabric in my stash and hey, she made candy apples for a living so what better fabric? So I looked for an image that would work and found this. Dude, I hope I don't get in trouble for embroidering it.

Yay! learning to embroider is fun!
3347  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Checker board on: October 15, 2010 06:07:14 AM
Disclaimer: I'm not a quilter.

I found a tute for felting stones at Resurrection Fern and really wanted to make them but I can't just make things to be pretty (usually) so I decided to make a lot of them, dye them in Kool-Aid, and make a checker's board to go with them. For my niece. For Christmas. (mind you I thought of this in like May or June)

So I attempted a mini quilt a couple weeks ago for the checkers board! AH! Not great, but it serves it's purpose AND I don't even have to wrap it. Check it out:

There's 3 different shades of rock per side, but you can tell they are all supposed to be pink/blue.

All wrapped up for Christmas! The ribbon is sewn into the side.

I think I will wist this.
3349  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Fiber Friday 15 Oct 2010 on: October 15, 2010 05:25:05 AM
I have never started one but here I go! I am so excited!
First, the less exciting one: I got some blacks from the Sheep Shed Studio and the last of them have been sitting in my drawer for some time now so I pull them out, spun 'em up, and started to loom-knit a scarf (cause I was excited!) and then I ran out and now I am waiting for more...

AND NOW THE EXCITING STUFF! A lady I know from MOPS gave me some fleece last year right off her own sheep that her dad won't let her wash SO...
I washed it.
I carded some of it (I think I need combs instead of cards).
I spun it.
I plied it.
And since there was still some grassy stuff in there, I set the twist using tea instead of regular water so it hides the gunk and gives it a really nice sepia tone.

and for a better sense of the color:

Disclaimer: I know this might not be all the great compared to some of you veteran sheep washers but I am really proud of this yarn! It has lots of the little tiny bumps of wool and is very "slubby" but that's why I said maybe I need combs?

Is that supposed to be the Death of Rats? How happy you make me!
