3131  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: any interest in a spinning CAL? Thinking March 2011 on: February 24, 2011 11:10:32 AM
Holy crap! You're picture there makes me want more fiber. "I don't have nearly a bed full, even a baby bed full, I must be missing out..."

I was sitting in traffic this morning thinking about this swap and the best idea popped into my head for Jexxican Smiley. I'll keep it to myself for now just in case we end up getting partnered together.
Damn, now I have to sign up! You were thinking about me in traffic? I feel so special.

3134  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Great Big Swirlie Swap send outs 3/7 on: February 20, 2011 06:03:29 PM
I am Bronchosaurus Jex today and yes, I have been making really bad jokes in my sleep deprived, sinus congested delirium all day. Well, for a few days now. I will survive, and my chest pains are lessening. Thanks for all of your kind words. Sounds like Yarn or Fabric and bluepaisan are both in lots of pain too. I don't like being sick. My husband wouldn't even let me make dinner. And he keeps telling me to shut up because my voice is so bad.

I did start my large a bit last night, but decided to stop before said delirium ruined it irreversibly.

I am finito!  Th is was THE most enjoyable swap I have ever done.
You can't be done yet! I am barely starting! I've been trying to but I was really busy trying to get ready for my first event (as in I was supposed to have a booth at the Baby Boomer Expo at our Civic Center, lot sof $ and time in prep work) and then I got sick, had to cancel it and ended up in the ER this morning. So I have barely started yours! You can't be done yet!

really getting started on my large today!
At least, I hope it will count as a large.
Also, I think I have at least one small thought up, but will it work?
3137  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Embroidery Hoopla R4 - Diptych Round!! (SU CLOSED, SO 3/21/11) on: February 19, 2011 08:56:11 AM
Not started yet, still need to work on my swirlie swap first which yes, I am making a hoop, but I am sick so meh, eff swaps for today. Maybe I'll work on hoops tomorrow?
spent a quiet evening at home last night listening to johnny cash & spooling a new batch of floss. my exchange student came out of her room and asked what i was listening to, so i sat her down a the computer and youtube'd cash's "hurt" video. when it was over, she was a lil damp-eyed and looked righteously miffed.  i asked why... she said she loved the song, but she was angry, and i asked why's that? she said she was mad because everyone in russia knows who miley cyrus and justin bieber are, but nobody has heard of this johnny cash or told her about him, and dang it, she feels like she's been cheated!!!
 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
I feel like she's been cheated, too! I have some Cash on vinyl but my record player needs a new needle Sad Sad
Bah, I'm a little cross at the moment. I cannot find half my embroidery threads, I've looked every where, and the box I have lost is the one with all the basic colours I need. So today is going to be expensive.
As soon as you buy replacements, you will find it! But if they're basics then maybe it won't matter too much and you'll need them eventually anyway?

I can see why you would want to keep that bamboo, Hippie. Wow!

Jets, I love that you have a fiber guild. I think I found one where I live but online it said it only had 5 members and they meet at the Adult Center *read, lots of old people* so I dont know. I don't know if they would be cool with me bringing my 2 munchkins along, really.
Navajo isn't hard at all. Like I said, it was very fast. Which is good, I'm more of an instant gratification kind of girl myself. It's nice to know that I can sit in front of the wheel and get quick results at least some of the time. I like to teach myself via watching videos on You Tube. If you do this, make sure you watch more than just one video, though. I watched Rexxenne's first and it was very informative but when I watched another one, I don't know which, I liked that technique better.

Oddacity, I love seeing finished projects! That is so nice! Yay! Dice bags!
3139  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / storage hammocks on: February 18, 2011 01:48:07 PM
I made these a while ago because I remembered having them as a kid but had no idea where I would find one AND I was on a mesh kick. They are a little warped because they have been in use and let's face it, crochet is supposed to have stretch, right? I used yarn that I stole from some sweaters.

Action shot:

Then I realized why make it white? They are all white! I made the one for my baby's room in pink chenille (again, STOLEN!)

I just learned that they are actually called "storage hammocks" and when I did a Google search, I found out that I was right, they only come in White! Good thing I make my own, eh?

I am only using push pins to hold them up, though I'm thinking if I make more then maybe I will need some D rings? I'm also thinking about using some bias tape on the sides so they don't sag so much. What do you think? Would that work? Any thoughts on a way to do it better?

Great job you guys! New yarns are the best. Nik, I know what you mean about working really hard to make a thick yarn!

I almost posted this first pic on Monday, just because it fit. I was combing my wool on Monday and I kept seeing this:

Appropriate? I think so!

Last week I posted a yarn that was still on the bobbin, this week (Monday) I finished it, and learned some Navajo plying. Is this what is also called chain plying? I found it thoroughly amusing and it plied really fast!

110 yards of Rambouilette, cleaned, combed, spun by me. I am so proud of myself!

Where is everyone?
