2641  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Givers and needers R10 (signups till Sept 30 Givers: Oct 25, Needers: Nov 10) on: October 06, 2011 01:25:12 PM
I save all kinds of boxes to ship with, just turn them inside out! After you open the ends, look on all of the corners and there should be one corner that has the seam. Separate the seam, fold all the creases backwards, tape the seam, tape the ends, and wa-la, beautiful clean picture-less shipping package. I sent my sock monkeys in a cheesecake box today. I use cereal boxes all the time. You know how I store them? I break them down (break it down now!) and keep them in the garage with the recycling. It sucks when I take out the recycling right before I have to send a swap package, but there are always more boxes in this house. So many great shipping boxes that people look over because they have stuff on the outside.

Yes I am a nerd. Getting passionate about flipping boxes really puts that into perspective.  Tongue

Sad thing: The day I sent the box to petskin, I got some 2 pair of carders that would have been great for blending some of those fibers together so she could make more with the blue and green. Sad Maybe next time. but if anyone wants hand cards, let me know Wink I already have a pair!

Yeah, I haven't started yet either. I just finished my monkeys for the sock monkey swap so this is my only active swap, but I need to work on Halloween first. *sigh* I don't know if I bought too little of this fabric or if it just shrunk when I washed it or what but I don't have enough of it to get all of the pieces for Russ' shirt cut out! AGGRAVATED! But when I figure this out I can start to think about my stocking for PurplePaisley. Good thing we have a month after Halloween before I have to send, right?

Lizard sally, I don't know what size box I used. I happened to have some flat rate boxes behind a chair in my living room so that's what I used. I think it's up to the giver.

As for the discussion thread vs the gallery thread, this one is more for talking about what's going on, the gallery is more for talking about what has already happened. Cheesy This board = progress. Gallery board = pictures. It really is necessary, at least to me it is. It keeps things cleaner. I hate going through past discussion threads but the galleries are fun. Breaking it up keeps things cleaner.

It looks like so much more spread out on your couch! I'm so glad you like it all. Here's a close-up of that yarn, just because I like it and I spun it and I'm proud of it. Merino/tencel blend. Yum, yum, she said she likes orange and I couldn't resist throwing this in there to top off the box.

Wow, received already? I sent 2 days ago! I was actually thinking it wasn't that big and anxious that I didn't send as much as I should have because no more would fit in the flat rate box. Wow. I'm glad you're happy. Where's the gallery?!
2649  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Unplying two yarns and plying them together...? on: October 05, 2011 03:17:14 PM
You wouldn't have to spin them together. You could just separate the plies and then work them together, like using 2 balls of yarn. Just make sure they are neat when you start because it will suck if they get tangled.

Yeah, since we already have senders shouldn't we have a gallery too?
