2371  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Embroidery Hoopla R7 - Silhouette & Negative Space! (SU CLOSED) on: January 27, 2012 06:42:24 PM
is it bad if I copy somebody elses image? I found something super perfect and I tried to make it my own sketch but it doesnt look as good as the one I googled. So is this frowned upon? My imagination isn't all that great so I tend to get heavily inspired by other stuff.

Shhh... I do that all the time! I already know what I'm doing for both of my partners and one will be a direct copy and the other is probably going to be a loose interpretation of a google image. But the first is given as a freebie on the site and the other is more just a general idea and honestly if the "designer" saw what will hopefully be my version, she would never know it was from her image. So I'm safe, right?

But generally with stitching and stamps, I just copy it right off the computer.

Don't even have the Q's yet but I already have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing for one of my partners. Wee!

I need to get good enough to spin fingering weight. You inspire me.

Perfect. Doilies made into doilies confuse me. What are they for? Of course they were made to be made with bigger hook and yarn and used for something functional. Love it! Good job.

So does this make him a Ninja Turtle?
I was wondering the same thing. You should make him a set of eye masks and some knit/crochet nun-chucks.

Very different feel for a button tree. I love it! I hope to get this good with felting someday. You give me something to strive for.
2377  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Yup, already thinking about summer on: January 25, 2012 09:25:13 AM
I was clearing out my bookmarks on my computer by pinning them and found this super easy Bandana Dress tutorial that I bookmarked LONG ago and decided Hey, why not make some? It's already 78 here in my part of the country. Alice is only 2 so she can grow into these a little and then she can wear them as shirts, because that would still be cute, or we can pass them down to what they say is going to be her little sister. We'll see. Either way, I think we'll have them a long time. And if the elastic gets too small I can always rip open the seam and add more, right? I'm crafty like that. Wink I picked out 2 patterns and let her pick out 2. Can you guess which were which?

First I tried it with the bow. I hate bows in my back when I sit so I tried a few other ways of tying:

This way is my winner! Cuter looser but not as functional.

Also tried looping and tying in the front. If I were more of a girly mommy I could probably come up with some really cute ways to tie them but alas, I'll settle for the way I did it on the green. Though if anyone has any ideas or website references that would be great.

What do you think? Wow, I'm wordy. C&C welcome!

ETA: Gratuitous cute shot!

We only have 39 people so far? Wowzers. That's OK, it's not too big. HUGE swaps kind of make the forums no fun.

So... I just pinned a hoop from the Needlepoint boards and decided none of my Pinterest boards should start with the same letter so I renamed a bunch of them and THEN I arranged them in alphabetical order. Small lie: I'm not OCD. OK, maybe that was a big lie. I am kind of surprised that I have 15 boards, though. That is way more than I ever thought I would have.

P. Wumpus: gorgeous fiber! Say, if you ever need another hammock... Wink

Bella, Thanks! But what do you mean little? That's 4oz @ 200 yards. I guess I didn't photograph it very well. Now I know!

Dollface, thank you. It is very soft. I loved it on it for at least 20 minutes when I first opened the package. I want more but they don't have any more of this blend yet. Maybe they will before too long and I can actually pay for it this time?
