21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Geek Easter Basket on: February 22, 2014 03:38:17 PM
Keep your eyes open on March 1! I'll start the swap then! I will resist the urge to make too many dragon eggs until then.

This sounds so cool! How would we go about geek-ifying it? And did you have an idea for the dates? Smiley

Here's just a few ideas

I think a plush yoshi or dragon would be cute. Perhaps some geeky themed cards or shirts!

Also for timeline I was thinkin signups be March 1-14 and send outs would be April 14.

Hi you guys! I had an idea for a geeky Easter basket swap. I was thinking one item could be a "basket" (Some sort of thing to hold eggs and candies!) I was thinking that it could be 3-4 point swap.
24  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Child abuse charity? on: February 18, 2014 07:12:29 AM
I was wondering if there were any charities for child abuse. It's something that I feel very strongly about and would love to be able to use my craft skills for that. Thank you guys!

Thank you guys for the compliments!

So I finally wore it out for the first time and oh my gosh it's so warm you wouldn't think plastic bags would be good for that but they are! The skirt made hardly any noise except when I would sit on a chair.
I got a lot of stares but only one person asked if the skirt was made of plastic bags. After I said yes he asked "Why?" I replied "Why not? It's good for the Earth and it's fun to wear a tutu." The look on his face was priceless.
27  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Fantasy Masquerade S/U 1/29 - 2/14, S/O 3/17 on: February 12, 2014 07:56:48 AM
For those who may be panicking about making a mask... please remember that it can be a MASK-RELATED item.  So if, for example, your partner is into Phantom of the Opera (can't get much more mask-related than that), perhaps notecards featuring sheet music from the play, with a rose and/or mask for dramatic effect. Or maybe your partner is a big Princess Bride fan and would like something to do with Dread Pirate Roberts... I've seen lots of awesome t-shirts, drinking glasses, wall art etc featuring his mask.  I could go on, but hopefully you get the idea.

It bears reminding for those of us who are on the receiving end, as well.  In fact, some of us may actually PREFER receiving a mask-related item as opposed to an actual mask.

OH! I should probably read better!

Hello everyone! When I saw this I knew I wanted to do something with my growing collection of plastic bags. And I right away thought "Plastic bag skirt!" and out of curiosity googled it. I came across one at instructables. http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-a-poufy-skirt-out-of-garbge-bags-and-duct-tap/
So I gave it a shot and realized it would be too short so I added few more layers and ended up with this. Please ignore my post work zombie face it's been a bit busy in the office.
