1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Little Hoot - a small owl friend on: September 01, 2012 03:14:27 PM
Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted on here...

Lately I've been rediscovering my love of owls~ so, naturally, I needed an owl plushie.  I was browsing Amazon when it hit me... just make my own!

I completed him in one day, but it took me roughly 7 hours.  He's completely hand sewn, made from my own pattern.  Smiley

(you can see this image larger here)

Little Hoot enjoys staying up late reading, nibbling on toast, and drinking hot chocolate.  I'm hoping to make "Big Hoot" to keep him company  Cheesy

Thanks for looking~
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Help making round pattern for a Yoshi? on: January 06, 2011 10:37:34 AM
So, I've convinced myself that I need a Yoshi plushie.  However, all the official plush that I've seen online are pretty small... I want something bigger and huggable!  Homemade plush seem to mean more to me than store bought, anyway.

Here's where you lovely craftsters come in... I'm having trouble making a pattern for his round nose ?_?  I've never sewn anything like that before and I'm afraid of messing it up... here's a pic of an official plush- http://www.animepopshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Nintendo-Small-Yoshi-Plush.jpg

Any tips on how to sew something that round with few seams?? Help would be greatly appreciated!  Embarrassed
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Mandragora Plushies on: December 25, 2010 10:28:51 PM
Well now, I haven't posted in quite a while... Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!

I spent my whole Christmas day finishing these guys, seeing as they're completely hand sewn, since I don't have a sewing machine.  They're Mandragora's from the online game Final Fantasy XI <3  Made with minky and felt with a pattern I made up as I went along.

At first, I was only going to make one, but I thought it would be cuter to make a pair- one for me, and one for my hubby  Wink

The friends all finished and chillin on the couch:

...and a couple progress pics Smiley

Thanks for looking!
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Sock squirrel! :D on: January 25, 2010 05:03:52 PM
So, I recently received this book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/160061907X/ref=s9_simi_gw_s0_p14_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=05A8YCM4EVAKQZNF44Y4&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846 from my sister.  It has loads of really cute, and not too complicated stuffed friends to make, all with socks!

So, my favorite of the bunch is this squirrel, and I've set out to make a lot of them.  Made this lil one today in only a few hours.  The pattern requires baby socks, so she's kind of tiny  Smiley  Also- it says to use a more plush-like sock, but I couldn't find any at my local Target store... also said to flip the socks inside out, which I did... upon later realizing they said to do that in order to see the terry cloth insides of those plush socks >_<!  Oh well...

Anyway, enough rambling.

Oh, as a side note- you're supposed to also sew an acorn and have it dangling from the arms, but I didn't feel like buying an expensive pair of socks, just for some brown material  Tongue  So I left it out  Grin

Thanks for looking!!  ...more to come...
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Baby Alien Chestburster plushie on: December 24, 2009 11:13:22 AM
Hey all... so I decided to make a very last minute addition to a gift for my husband.  He's really into the Aliens movie series, so I bought him the Queen plushie for Christmas this year... and got to thinking... she needs a little baby Chesty to go with her <3

I made this little guy really quickly in only a couple hours this morning, but I think he came out pretty cute.  All done in felt.

Posing with Dad... yes, we have a LOT of Alien friends laying around...

And here he is with the little Facehugger I made earlier this year.  Hubby LOVES little Hugs, so he's been under a lot of abuse, hence he's pretty scrappy looking by now.. but he looks happy to have a new friend ^_^

Anyway, thanks for looking and have a Merry Christmas!! <3
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Online plush fabric store? on: October 06, 2009 10:15:53 AM
Hey all, got a question for ya.

I looked on the sticky first, but some of the links were outdated, so I was wondering...  Anyone have a good suggestion for an online site that sells plush fabric?  Looks like I've only got a Jo-Anns near me, and they are usually lacking in quantity and quality... and I would rather take someone's suggestion than just blindly trying a site.

Thanks for reading  Grin
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Cactuar stampede! (lots of pics) on: September 28, 2009 05:50:35 PM
Good evening, Craftsters... So I'm sitting around at home and I thought I'd share with you all an ongoing project of mine.  CACTUARS!  (They're a monster found in Final Fantasy games..)

Anywho, I started making these a few years ago for my husband (boyfriend at the time Wink).  They're made of various fabrics and the faces are generally made from that felt-like adhesive you put on the bottoms of your chairs to prevent them from scratching your floor!

Meet the gang...

The first ever; a latch-hooked pillow:

Jumbo came soon after (and has been very loved, hence he's somewhat scrappy):

Ah, there's more of them!

These two were made to accompany hubby and a friend to an anime con:

Here comes another!

The one on the left is saluting, and the creamy guy on the right was a "just because" gift:

Sadly, we seem to have misplaced the smallest one I've made and have yet to find him...  Undecided
Thanks for looking and I hope they brought a smile to your face  Grin
(And I apologize for the crappy photo quality >_<)
8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Moonkin plushie (IMG HEAVY) on: August 11, 2009 09:22:04 AM
FINALLY!!  This guy took me months to complete.. working on and off.. decided last night that he needed to be finished.  My fingers hurt T_T

Anyway!  It's a Moonkin from World of Warcraft, my own design, all hand-sewn, only one of its kind.  He's Tauren, of course  Wink  Sorry all you Alliance-lovers, I'm a Horde girl.  Tongue

O hai!  Hoot-hoot!

The mighty Tauren Moonkin..

What's wrong Moonkin?

Thanks for looking! <3
9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Alien Facehugger plushie on: August 10, 2009 10:18:16 AM
Hey there, this is my first post :3

So, my husband's birthday is next Saturday and he loves the Alien series... I normally sew him a new friend for occasions like this, and this is the result this year...

Oh crap it's in our closet!

Chillin on the DVD set

the belly

and a little size comparison ^.^

He took roughly 9 hours or so to complete, going almost non-stop.  Kinda made up the pattern as I went along- made entirely of felt except for his little sucker bottom- all hand-sewn.  Facehuggers aren't meant to have eyes... but hey, artistic liberty, right?  I'm planning on secretly hiding him somewhere for my husband to find.. ^_~  thanks for looking!
