1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Need help with funny teen couple costume ideas! on: October 12, 2006 02:54:47 PM
Last year, my fellow crafters, me and my beloved boyfriend went to our Halloween party as the cow and the milkmaid. Alas, we had to buy costumes, which were scratchy and hot, but pulled off our costumes nonetheless. Take a look.

Anyways, I was wondering if any of you had any ideas for a slightly off-beat, yet hysterical couples costume idea that would be original? Thanks!  Grin
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Would These Sell? How Much? (4 Images) on: September 20, 2006 04:46:55 PM
I have been making duct tape/card/Starburst wrapper/oragami paper purses and wallets for over a year now and are interested in selling them online. I need an honest opinion from all of you guys on whether or not you would buy them and how much you would be willing to pay for them? They take between 30 min- 2 hours, depending on how detailed they are.

Here are some pictures...

Oragami paper purse with a little pocket on the inside.

Oragami paper wallet. Inside has 6 well-lined credit card slots. It's my personal wallet. Smiley

Woven red and black duct tape bag with rose on side.

Tote bag made for my friend, named "Erin" coincidentally. It's about 15" x 12" x 3" (length x width x depth.) I loved making this- It's the biggest thing I've made so far.

So what do you guys think?
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Adorable Summer Paper/Duct Tape Bag! on: May 03, 2006 01:12:40 PM
Well, it's been a while since I've been on Craftster, and I def. haven't shown off any of my cute new items! This is the Summer Origami Purse. It's made out of blue origami paper, clear duct tape and white duct tape. I think it's one of the sweetest looking bags I've made. I'm not sure if I should sell it or for how much. Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks  Tongue

So this is the purse front. It's a small purse, but it can hold a wallet, cell phone, lotion bottle(small!), lipgloss, all the necessities!

The inside. There's a little change pocket on the side. Pardon the hair, 70s couch and jeans. They all want their 15 minutes of fame.
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Product Pricing..And will they sell? on: December 19, 2005 11:13:54 AM
Hey chicas! I've been making purses, wallets and cozies for quite some time, but I'm not sure if they would sell.. Any ideas if they would over hte web/in real life and how much I should price them for? Thanks!

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Duct Tape Swag (LOTS of pics) on: August 13, 2005 08:36:36 PM
Wow.. I've done LOTS of stuff with duct tape lately, and I wanna show off my handiwork! So here goes!

#1- Woven Duct Tape Purse
This is one of my favorite things I made- my 1st total duct tape purse. Woven with yellow and black strips in the front and 3 pockets on the inside. It's a little untidy, but I still use it to death.

#2-Hillary's College Purse

One of my counselors at camp, Hillary, requested that I make her a purse out of duct tape for her to wear at college football games. She's going to Liberty and they're the "flames," so I made her a fiery purse! The flames were cut out of a sheet of duct tape. The purse is all backed on cardstock so it would hold up at football and basketball games. I love the flames on this purse so much. I wanna make myself a black and lime green one ASAP.

#3-Checkered Wallet

Really easy wallet, woven with green and white duct tape, 6 credit card slots. Made for my counselor from camp. Nothing special, but its cute Smiley

#4- Card Wallet

Pretty nifty card wallet I made for my friend. It folds kinda weird, like a fan instead of a brochure(horrible analogy) It has a divider in the middle for credit cards and can easily hold.. 6 of them. There's Velcro on both sides to hold it together in your pocket. Was the result of experimentation.

#5(Last one)- Triforce Wallet

Ok, I made this for my 6 year old little brother. For those of you who aren't Nintendo dorks, this is the Triforce symbol from the Zelda series. It has 4 or 6 credit card slots(can't remember how many) and it turned out really well. I think I'm going to turn this idea into a purse and have a Dark Link on the back.

Whew, I'm done. Please post suggestions, comments and critisism. Thanks
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Skittles, duct tape and starburst. oh my! (super img heavy) on: June 26, 2005 06:19:55 PM
Well, I was expecting to make a Starburst messenger bag, but I got stuck on the structural support. So until I can get my mom to drag me to Wal-mart to buy some plasticy stuff for the insides, I made a Starburst purse. Quite cute, I got TONS of compliments on it, even by people I didn't know. The only problem I have with it is that I put in the pocket upside down.  Grin

Front of bag

Side of bag, pardon my messy desk

For humor, my upside-down pocket Smiley

After taking this to school, I got a request to make a bag using Skittles wrappers. I had a few pieces of cardboard left over from these sheets I bought, so I made a more stable frame, and a longer handle. The girls absolutely loved it. It's a really fantastic bag for school, as it held my French and Latin books, and a bunch of notebooks.

Front of bag

How much stuff the bag can hold(may not hold up well without sewing but...)

I just think I may be in love.
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Embroidery on Swimsuit Fabric on: April 24, 2005 07:24:52 PM
I found this fabulous black bikini at Old Navy for $20, and it fits perfectly. It's just.. Kinda boring. I thought maybe embroidery would spice it up a bit, maybe a fun flower pattern or stars or lightning bolts(nothing complicated, just outlines)I think it's a Nylon/Lycra blend, though I'm not sure...

My mom is good at embroidery, though she's never tried her hand on stretchy material like that, and I'm alright, but in the same predicament as my mom. So, we're kinda stuck on how to do this..

Anyone have any tips on how to embroider outlines onto a swimsuit-type fabric? Thankies Smiley
8  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / DORMANT: Beginner Crochetalong Shawl (with pattern link) on: March 06, 2005 07:37:45 PM
Well, I went out looking at yarn today, and I found the lovely Lion Suede yarn. Being the leather/suede freak I am, I had to find a project to make out of this that was fairly simple, as my crochet skills aren't that wonderful yet.

And I found this little number on the Lion Brand Website today.

Pretty Shawl Pattern

It seems pretty easy, as it's all done in half-double crochet. Would anyone like to join me in starting this? I'd love to have company of other newbie crocheters.  Smiley
