1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Nightcrawler socked out on: August 04, 2009 07:50:11 PM
Thanks honey for being so kind.  You know making the tail was hard just because I had to figure out how to sew it before I could do anything.  the points on the tail are not equal but it still looks good.  If I do make one again I think I have a better understanding on how to make it all work out.  Also next time I don't want to make him a whole suit, it was very hard to get it on him.
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Dashund Clutch....fail?? on: August 02, 2009 12:19:06 PM
For having never done a lot of things it is good to see that you are so talented to make it all turn out.  Your friend is very lucky.  You need to give that to her because it is great.  I love that it can stand on it own.  by the first picture I would have not guessed it was a purse besides you had told us.  You did good.
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Nightcrawler socked out on: August 01, 2009 01:04:32 PM
Recently I got tired of waiting for another craftster in the house to make me a Nightcrawler, which was never going to happen, I had to make my own.  The inspiration of the idea came about from a post of a Beast sock monkey (x-men) I saw, I thought Nightcrawler would look good too.  It took me a while to find the right color materials but I was able to get it all worked out.  This isn't my first X-Men project but it is my first time trying to make a doll.  Please let me know what you think.

It took me about 10 hours of work but I think it turned out ok.  His hair isn't right yet, but I think the way I made is hair worked out ok for now until I find some other way to do the hair.

when sitting he is about 12 inches but when he stands he is about 20' (I'm guessing).

I tried to add some features to his face.  I think it helps define the character better.

He does like to just hang around.  I tried many times to make the hand and feet with three fingers and toes but it didn't work out.

His tail is about 14 inches (again that is a guess).  It wasn't easy getting his tail spaded either.

He really is a good addition to my collection of Nightcrawlers figures.

FYI: For the hair I used the toe end the black socks and cut it to make it look like hair.
(it kinda looks like a durag)

For the whole project I used two pairs of sock (dark blue and black), an old red shirt (under armor), and some white fabric I got at the thrift shop. The black costume he wears is removable, including the gloves.  If you remove the costume he can be dressed with anything else that would fit a sock monkey (I think).

this is so funny.  It reminds me of my 7th grade science teacher that ate with hissing cockroaches at her dining room table.

I love the detail.  I can't believe you use it for such mundane things.  But gosh I love that you have it out for everyone to see everyday.  That is something to show to everyone.
