2  Youre Wearing THAT THING?!?! (Spiders and teeth and others!) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by ohgeeman on: August 13, 2009 12:38:37 PM
I had lurked around craftster for quite the longest time, admiring all the resin pendants, until one day, CohesiveChaos used an actual spider that she had caught. And my eyes went "Oh my lord..... IVE GOTTA TRY!" So I went out and bought all the supplies, made a few practice pieces and just when i had forgotten about the spider..

A friend had a dead one trapped in her room.
GIVE IT TO ME!! I exclaimed and she ... did.

So heres my take! :]

Theres his underside, so you can get a better look at the detail
thats shown when the light catches it. His stupid little legs
wouldnt stay sprawled out so I constantly had to move them
with toothpicks while curing!

Against my hand

And Heres some others!
Gosh I didnt even think to turn them.. ><

Some Flowers:

And my faves:

The teeth are from my grandmothers puppy who got hers pulled, the green is my first take on resin ever, and the one on the end has a fortune cookie which reads
"Adventure can be real happiness"

3  Hemp made Elegant on Prom Night? (and other necklaces) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by ohgeeman on: August 13, 2009 12:26:40 PM
Soooo in about late April/May, I was preparing
for my boyfriends prom (oh boy). :] Great thing
was that:
A) My dress was free, a handmedown from my aunts friend
B) My shoes were free, (Famous Footwear Giftcard!)

So it was only fair to make myself some jewelry right?
I called my boyfriend and said "IM MAKING A HEMP NECKLACE
FOR PROM" and needless to say he was not excited for
a run-of-the-mill shells and ponybeads makeshift crap.

Oh but did I surprise him :]

Using a real jade pendant my granny gave me a time ago,
and a few here and there beads, mixed with two gold leaves
i bought for 2 bucks, I came up with a knockyoursocksoff
ELEGANT looking hemp necklace!

(excuse the bra, i threw on the dress for reference!)

And an action shot

Because nothing says elegance like a
candid of you squatting on the sidewalk  Wink

afterwards i really got a knack for the stuff and so i kept

Hope you like 'em!

4  He Speaks For The Trees (full latex mask, pic heavy) in Costumes: Completed Projects by ohgeeman on: August 13, 2009 11:43:32 AM
Loooonngg Time Lurker, First Post!!

In all his glory!!

Continue reading for In-Progress pictures :]

So through my Junior Year of highschool (this past) I finally
made my way into a much sought after class of ours:
Visual Effects and Design. Its taught by our says-it-like-it-
is art teacher Mr. Byzcinski, a man who leaves you flying
by the seat of your pants to make all the mistakes in the world
until you do it HIS WAY. (a very wonderful man FTR :] )
We make Monster Masks, props, and animatronics usually
directed towards local haunted houses and things of the sort.

thats our lab, but by far not encasing the wonderful works
around the rest of the room, just the teacher, my station,
and a couple students.

Anyway, this was my second project, and probably the most
enjoyable, difficult process ive ever encountered as a student.

The clay piece in progress, it was a LONG PROCESS getting all of the
detail in that damn thing and many times i just found myself
face down in a GOD LET IT BE OVER nap.

I dont have a picture of the Plaster mold itself that was made
off of the clay, but the bastard was heavy, and im glad to be
rid of it!

The Latext Casts. I did three of these puppies and let me
tell you, half of my wardrobe is now ruined thanks to my
apron refusal, and hours of picking out latex from fibers
with dental tools. Pouring buckets of latex into giant molds
is something a dainty little girl should not do.

The finished.. two out of three. the one with empty eyes
has a slit in the back to put your head through (yes it fits!)
and the one with eyes is full of polyfoam, and stands on its
own. Excuse the eye creepiness, we had no fake ones and
i had to paint them myself ><

This was probably the most fun Ive ever had at school,
and plan on spending all of my time in the lab this coming
Senior Year. I regret not taking advantage of the course
as a Freshman!
