21  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Prom dress from suiting material on: May 28, 2005 01:54:58 AM
Well, I thought I'd be a little different and make my dress out of grey pin-striped suiting material. I'm not one for shiny, glittery things...so, I kept it simple. Tell me what you think. Thanks!

Second from left.

This one shows the pin-stripe a bit better. It's pretty light though.
22  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / flower design for a prom dress? on: May 08, 2005 10:37:43 AM
This year, my prom dress in very plain and I was thinking of putting some bead embroidered flowers at the bottom of my dress. The thing is that I can't find a good design for some really neat flowers.

Anyone know of some good websites or books that I could take a look at?

i'm having a hard time w/ my hem. can i use fabric glue so the stitches dont show? would a smaller stitch length work better?

my sewing machine has this feature where it can do an invisible hem. that's what i always use.

26  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: strep throat? on: March 20, 2005 08:16:10 PM
thanks guys!
it's actually not me who has strep, it's my boyfriend. i've been letting him know about what you've all suggested and he's being a stupid boy and not believing in home remedies. i'll keep trying to push him to use them though because he's my only way of getting out of the house and that's not gonna happen until he gets better haha.

again, thanks a lot!

30  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: beautiful glowing skin on: February 17, 2005 03:56:50 PM
The procedure should be...
steam for 3-5 mins
massage a vegetable (e.g. grapeseed) oil into the skin (NEVER use a mineral oil (johnsons baby oil in an example of a mineral oil) as these just sit on the skin and cause the pores to block). Really massage it in as massage increases the blood circulation which will increased the food an oxygen getting to the skins surface, in turn making it glow!
use your mask, for about 5-10 mins
and, finally, moisturise

should this be done daily or like 1 - 2 times a week?
