1  Re: HP Craftalong ~Fall Semester 2012~ *Join At Any Time* in Craftalongs by varifiresis on: September 14, 2012 10:20:51 AM
After looking at all the awesome projects everyone has done, I feel like a total slacker so far this semester. So here is my first project for the fall-

Class/Challenge: Care of Magical Creatures/ September Quidditch
House: Slytherin
Project: Stash Busting Bookmark
Description: I loved the beaded bookmarks that were done for the summer semester, so I decided to make one with all the odd beads I had leftover from other projects, as a birthday present for my sister.I am in the middle of setting up a new craft room (well, corner of a room Wink ) so getting to my supplies took more time than the actual crafting but it was still finished in just under an hour.

Last Minute Quidditch Challenge Entries!
I almost forgot today was the last day to post these! Thank goodness we were given those few extra hours (can quidditch go into overtime?) to get things posted!

House: Slytherin
Project Name:Red Fairy Door
Brief Description: My 5 year old niece loves my HP collection and wanted to make something to add to the display, so we painted a wooden dollhouse door and now we have a fairy door so magical creatures can visit.

Challenge: Broomsticks
House: Slytherin
Project Name: 3 Broomsticks Pin
Brief Description: I made a 3 Broomsticks logo in Photoshop (I used a few designs from Deviant Art as inspiration). Then I used some gel pens to add a bit of glitter to the lettering and to highlight the brooms.

Challenge: House Spirit
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Slytherin Pride Beads
Brief Description: This necklace is made from several strands of green glass beads that I had picked up for another project but decided were too small to use as individual accent beads but that they looked great when there were multiple strands together and with a few silvery strands of seed beads I had my house colors.

For some reason these beads show up in the photos as being a bit yellow/golden but are actually a white-ish silvery color in person.

Challenge: Beater
House: Slytherin
Project Name: My sister's new technicolor hair
Brief Description: I almost forgot to include this one but it definitely fit the new technique criteria for the 'Beater Challenge'. My sister has waist length hair that has been dyed just about every color imaginable and changes it fairly often, but has recently had surgery and would need a helper (me). This time she decided that she wanted green and blue streaks in front  and a dark brown/black color for the rest - which seemed like a pretty simple plan even though she had never actually used more than one color at a time before. As it turns out it was a bit more complicated than we thought but we were too far along to stop by the time we figured out exactly what we had gotten ourselves into. It took us almost six hours (when we had figured 2 at the most) but we did finally get it right.

Class: Quidditch Challenge- Seeker
House: Slytherin
Project: Snitch Necklace

I saw how far behind Slytherin was in the Quidditch Challenge and decided to make this Snitch necklace to help earn a few points.

House: Slytherin
Project Name: A Captured Fairy Jar Pendant

I got a bit carried away after finishing the Rita Skeeter Pendant and ended up with a fairy in a bottle!

Now to get started on the portkey ideas ....

5  Captured Fairy Vial Pendant & More in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by varifiresis on: July 04, 2012 06:38:03 AM
I have had these a bunch of these vials for a while now intending to make a few charms and pendants, but only made a few before moving on to other projects. I came across them again while sorting through old craft supplies and I decided to make a few, but I got a bit carried away.

This one, a tiny little fairy captured in a bottle, is my favorite.

but I did make quite a few "potions" and pretties

and even this HP themed charm...

its Rita Skeeter (in beetle form) along with her quick quotes quill and a tiny Daily Prophet.

Let me know what you think!

Class/Challenge: Detention with Snape
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Rita Skeeter Pendant

As I am more than a bit tardy joining in this semester it seems only fair to start off in Detention. I have quite a few unfinished projects laying around so I knew this Challenge was perfect for me! Last year I made a Harry Potter themed charm bracelet for my mom's birthday and I came up with the idea when I found a package with a  pre made tiny polymer clay bug on clearance at the craft store. I wasn't thrilled with the obviously fake bright colors (orange, yellow, and green), so I painted it with a coat of black nail polish on the body then added an iridescent polish to the wings, which looked surprisingly realistic and made it look more like a part of a bug collection than the whimsical charm I was aiming for. To help identify her as Rita I added a small piece from a feather boa trimmed into a tiny quill shape that I colored with a green sharpie to make her Quick Quotes Quill. Although the quill helped I still was unhappy with the overall effect, it seemed unbalanced somehow so I left it off the bracelet and ended up putting it away intending to empty it and reuse the vial someday, and I forgot all about it. A few days ago when I was going through my jewelry scraps I found it again and I knew right away what it had been missing- a copy of the Daily Prophet!   Cheesy

Thank you for organizing!!!
Yes, a big thank you!!!!

Mightyminniemouse- I am so glad you got the package finally, I was so worried it was lost or in pieces somewhere! I am so glad you liked everything, I had so much fun crafting it all for you. I noticed your picture of the peg dolls was missing and for some reason I can't find the Ood picture but here is a shot of the Weeping Angel. I think they were my favorite ideas-- both of them last minute ideas but I was pretty happy with them!

I received my package a few days ago but due to some unavoidable family emergencies, I haven't been online to post. Here is a shot of everything together

I got a teeny cuddly crocheted weeping angel, a TARDIS box (with the words "its bigger on the inside" written inside), a gorgeous "TARDIS shrapnel" beaded bookmark that must have taken forever to make with all those tiny beads, some travel themed scrapbooking stickers and a Canadian flag key chain (as mightyminniemouse pointed out the doctor IS all about travel) and my favorite piece an embroidered picture of 10 and 11 together. I love it all and wish I could get more detailed photos to load but it seems my internet is having connection issues right now so I will try to post better photos later. Hope my partner receives soon (the P.O. said it could take this long I was just hoping it would show up sooner) !!!

Just saw this picture - had to share.

This is a repost from Neatorama. I tried to link to it but it wasn't posting correctly, and I wanted to make sure I gave them credit.

Here are the pics of my awesome package from suitcase2space. Please excuse the crappy webcam photos- my camera went MIA about a month ago....

Here is the hair oil and the candy tin-

The gorgeous handmade purse that my son tried to steal until I pointed out that it was a *PURSE* so he reluctantly gave it back! You can't see the lining but it is a beautiful silvery fabric.

and my FAVORITE ITEM EVER RECEIVED IN ANY SWAP.... (prepare your wists)
