1  Re: Embroidery Hoopla Swap Gallery (Send-outs Sept 20) in The Swap Gallery by alorralora on: October 01, 2010 08:37:53 PM
I'm going to go ahead and post the hoop pic I took of what I sent my partner.  I'm not sure what's going on there, but anyhoo, this pic is not the greatest, but it works.

So, I had my daughter draw me her little cartoon she does that shows a little alien dude doing cute things.  She wants to make t-shirts or greeting cards with him and his co-horts someday.  I tried to crayon color him after the fact, which I know now is harder to do than if you color him before you start the embroidery.  I just thought that there was so much space and he needed a little color.  It was harder to do than I thought.

It's hard to see, but the bowl is holding french knotted grapes and satin stitched (I think that's what it's called) apple and banana.  Sorry about the fuzziness.

First of all, these hoops were amazing!  I loved them all, but especially the ones with ultra color, like the moth and the heart/star one.

Here's the little pretty I got from hello.kiddo.  It's a great way to start my own wall of hoops!

Ok, that crazy quilt book is called "The Crazyt Quilt Handbook"  revised, 2nd edition, 2001 by Judith Baker Montano, C & T Publishing.

Here's two trees from it:

I don't really remember where I got it from, sorry, but I'm sure Amazon would have it

I came home from camping and found this on my porch. (inside porch, no worries!)  Eukarya sent me a Victorian steampunk lady on a handmade mini notebook, and she also included her original sketches for it!!  I love the gold and silver threads in here.  Using gold thread can sometimes be tricky so I'm amazed at the gold french knot buttons!  I'm so loving this, but now I have extreme swapper's anxiety, I hope mine I'm sending will be ok  Undecided  Here's the notebook and original sketch:
P.S:  hope this pic loads, photobucket widget wasn't loading for me, so I had to use Crafter's photo hosting

sorry for the darkness on this, but my flash was white washing the picture

Ooh, great stuff guys. I have that blue box too! Those fabrics from princessblueberry are great prints. I see a pooping cow!  Tongue

lol!  I had to send it, I'm from Wisconsin!  :p

here's my goodies from MICHELLEIGH34.  Lots of photos!  There was an egg slicer that was included, but not in the pic because my 4-year old decided that it makes wonderful music and I had to put it away before he broke it.  So, here is the group shot:

here's a pic of the bag itself, love the fabric!  wish I had a serger tho Sad

Here's a padded roll for silverware and/or chopsticks, with a large pocket for the set of napkins in the same colors!

bento bustin' hardware group shot #1: (mini grater, neato fruit/veggie peel slicer, and egg piercer for boiling perfect eggs)

and little seasoning bottles!  too cute!!  also, an egg shaper!!  one is a star and the other a heart.  The heart one is missing as I just happened to make boiled eggs the day it came, and had to try it out.  It really worked, so cute!!  and very easy, too!

I loved everything, thank you!  can't wait to get started!

P.S:  got some kimchee from an Asian market to try on some rice for my bento, but man...I just don't see the attraction of the stuff.  Maybe if I made it at home, without the fish sauce, I'd get into it more.  How does everyone else feel about kimchee?

7  Re: another (old fashioned) random gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by alorralora on: June 12, 2010 06:34:53 PM
Ok, here's the post with all the pics I took of my goodies from Pinokeeo.  It's very image heavy and the first few pics are a bit large, but then I figured out how to get a smaller resolution on the camera, so they do get better. also, figured out the flash...I was getting washed out pics, but then found out how to do it better.  There's so many pics because I have to show everyone how my partner put together a few of the items, I'm so proud of her!  so, I just had to take many photos!  Here goes....

This is a group shot of everything, I'll explain what they are in their separate shots:

My partner found out I used to work with computers, so she made a picture frame out of old floppies!!!!  talk about reusing something!  I wish I could think outside the box a bit with my crafts, I don't know how she figured this one out:

This is a close-up of the edges, to show how she put them together:

and here's the back:

Here is a journal, and a jar of little bits of info I'm to use to reflect on and write about my life:

These lil darlin's were in the decoupaged tin.  I like the candies, the colors.  and I really like the mahjong earrings.  I love mahjong!!

Ok, this one was on my Wist.  This is a bowl with a hole drilled into it, allowing a ball of yarn to be fed through.  So, now you can knit/crochet without the ball rolling all over the floor (I hate that!).  My partner somehow made the bowl out of those carnival/token tickets.  Where the heck did you get so many??  And where did you get this idea??  Man, and here I was feeling great about making planters out of old ice cream buckets! :p  These are my favorite colors right now, blue is perpetually my favorite, but then I have a color of the year (only orange is going on 3 yrs. for me right now).

here's the inside:

the underside:

and an action shot!

well, hope you liked them, and sorry for the massive photos! (not really, my partner needed the spotlight!)

Thanks, Pinokeeo, I love everything!

8  Re: Alphabet Inchies Swap in The Swap Gallery by alorralora on: June 04, 2010 12:49:12 PM
okies, I got my pics from my friend and am posting them.  sorry to be so late with them, we just haven't touched base with each other this past month, so many things going on at once.  anyhoo, I don't have a pic of them all together as some of them were attached to cards and I didn't want to rip anything.  later on, I may just clip them out and frame them, went a suitable idea for display presents itself.  I loved all of them, and they are all so pretty!  I'm proud of everyone in my group for the awesomeness you've sent me!  My favorite of them all is the O one, and if you read it, you'll understand *halo around my head!*
This one is from titaniumhip, and I must say she is soo talented!  see for yourself...

This next one is from suomisidhe, love the colors and sparkly fairy!

This one is from smmarrt, the "O!" !!!!

This one is seeuudee's.  The "A" is on white felt and surrounded by beads.  I like the "Y" the best, so metallic and shiny!

Here is panthermoon's.  You can't see what's on the negative, but there's people in it.  Very clever!  I like the little book, too!

And last, but not least, is beckashell's.  The paperclip, so clever, yet so simple!  My favorite is the "J" as I love anything Asian, especially from Japan.  Kawaii!!! :p

I love them all!!  Hugs galore!!  (P.S:  hope this photo thing works, I'm always leery of using it!)

9  Re: Inchies - it's a new year! Sendouts Feb. 16 in The Swap Gallery by alorralora on: March 29, 2010 09:32:32 PM
These are from ckchan.  The first batch got lost in the mail (I think it was our crazy mailperson, she never gets our mail right!), so she was so kind to send me out a new set.  I like the pancakes the best, because I like food, and also because it is offset like a diamond.  The star is 3-D, which I also like very much, but I'm not sure what it's made out of!
I love these, thank you ck!
(p.s:  hope these pics are ok, my scanner is dying)

Here is my latest ones I got:

This is from thelastkodama.  I think my scanner is acting wonky because some of these have green in them, but not that much green!

My favorite is the little mousie.  I love Beatrix Potter (wonder if she was called Bea or Trixie?) and Peter Cottontail and all the little animorphical designs/books/movies.  The whale one I like especially, too.  The little bubbles are tiny blue beads!  The flower one isn't done justice in this pic.  It's done on sparkly black/green felt, and I think the stitch is the lazy daisy stitch, I think?

this set is from knickertwist.  again, the colors are off a bit Sad

My favorite is the fabric one with decorative stitching, which you can't see too well, unfortunately Sad  The family one is the wax one and is beautiful, but it was breaking a little bit from the mail.  I like the rounded edges and the 3d of the button one and the metal one!
