1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Newspaper Centerpiece? on: November 01, 2006 06:22:07 AM
Hello fellow Craftsters!

For my company meeting next Friday, we are using a newspaper/political cartoon theme. I'm in charge of coming up with an interesting centerpiece, somewhere along those lines.

I was thinking maybe a photo cube on each table? But I'm not sure where to get those on such short notice.

Any ideas?
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Periodic Table Shower Curtain on: September 17, 2006 04:33:33 PM
So... my one year anniversary with my boyfriend is coming up very, very quickly. He's a chemist, and he doesn't have a periodic table anywhere in his office or at home. So... perfect gift, right?! Right. Only, have you seen the price of those schoolroom periodic tables? They're ridiculously expensive. But I found a periodic table shower curtain on Uncommon Objects. Problem solved. Sort of.

Here's the shower curtain. http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?itemId=14290

Only, I got him a perfectly good pirate shower curtain this past summer. So I wanted to hang this one up on a wall in his office. There's room enough, only I can't figure out how to hang it up so it's flat or stretch it or frame it or... do you get what I'm saying?

Basically I want to make this shower curtain LOOK like one of the expensive classroom periodic tables. Help!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Punk Rock Prom on: May 22, 2006 06:55:12 AM
Eek! I have a Punk Rock Prom to attend on the 31st! (For those of you chicas in Austin, if you didn't get the invite, lemme know).

But, I don't know what to wear! Should I go rockabilly or old school? British punk rock or West Coast? Personally, a mix of Brit rockabilly would suit me perfectly... but I don't want to look all nasty...

ugh.. any ideas? seen anything online lately? THANK YOUS!!
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Bizarre Stencil Request on: November 18, 2005 10:18:00 AM
Okay, so I'm sitting at work today, won't be near a printer tonight, and need to have this shirt ready to go by tomorrow. Would any of you lovely ladies and/or gents be willing to change this into a stencil for me? Don't worry about the lettering or the thingy around the statue... I'm really more worried about the pecan and the pedestal. Oh, and try to ignore the van back there, if you can. hmm... let me put a couple photos up, actually.

World's Largest Pecan. That's right, baby.  Wink

5  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Female Satyr on: October 24, 2005 07:38:07 PM
Okay, so we all remember that lovely Pan costume that whats-his-face posted... well, I kind of stole the idea and decided that I want to do it, too. I'm already in the midst of working on the legs, have no idea how to do the hooves, but the biggest obstacle I'm running into is the top... because technically satyrs didn't wear anything. Only, I'm a chick (and not a skinny one at that) and can't figure out what to do. Bodysuit? Grecian-styled top? No idea.

Any ideas, craftsters?
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Classy Carribean on: July 22, 2005 10:43:26 AM
My aunt is throwing a surprise birthday party for her boyfriend this August. She's got nearly everything planned out, but she wants a way to get the guests into the spirit of things. She mentioned possibly buying pink flip flops for the women and black flip flops for the guys to put on as soon as they enter the party, but she wasn't completely sold on that idea.

Would you wonderful Craftsters have any ideas? She wants to keep the party classy, so no fake leis or anything like that. Any thoughts?
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / The BIG #21 (birthday, of course) on: March 30, 2005 02:40:47 PM
Alright fellow Craftsters.... I've read some of the posts on party favor or activity ideas for ladies turning 18, but what about #21? I'm finally an "adult" on May 1 and I'm having the party at a local vineyard. It will be warm and sunny and outside *crosses fingers*, and a mixture of friends (old and new) and family (young and old) will be attending. I need ideas for what favors to give out.

I'm already planning on making wine charms to go on everyone's wine glass, but after that... ??

I can't seem to find favors with me in mind. They're either for kids, people getting married, or people getting OLD.

8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Ideas for a half-pint? on: February 18, 2005 10:31:37 AM
Okay, so I want to make a stencilled shirt for one of my best friend's little brother. He's only 3, but he's already a badass. We can tell. But, I want to make him a shirt that both he, his mom, and I would find cool. Any ideas?
By the way, little facts about this little guy... he's Puerto Rican, tiny (so cute!), into ninjas, and doesn't take shit.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Terrycloth Tube Dress? on: February 10, 2005 09:10:37 AM
Okay, so I want to make this tube dress for a friend of mine who's going to the coast for Spring Break... but is it really as simple as it seems? Any tips would be appreciated... and I've never sewn with terrycloth.. there's not much too it, is there? Thanks so much!!

I like this one, but I don't want to do a smocked bodice. I'd rather have the bodice like the one below this one.

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Got a guy overseas? on: February 09, 2005 09:57:31 PM
Well, the downside of this project is that I gave it to my little stepbrother, since he left for Iraq today. But the good part about it is he has no excuse not to write me now. Sneaky sister.

I basically just took some cheap upholstery fabric from Wal-Mart, made sure it would fold twice, and then put pockets everywhere to stick stuff, like the notebook, envelopes, pens, and deck of cards. Then, on the outside, since it was dull-looking, I stenciled on a little army guy with a beret. I made the stencil myself. (yay me!)

It's a simple thing, but I hope you guys like it.

edited to actually put the pictures in my post.
