Class (or House Pride Item): Detention with Snape
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Tile push pins for Dad
Project Page Link: Message eyechart and tile push pins for dad

Brief Description: My first project is for Detention, go figure. I suppose it could work for Transfiguration, but I have something else planned for that. Ive had these tiles since last Fathers Day, so this detention was looong overdue. I found these awesome tiles in the Room of Lost Things and knew what I wanted to do with them right away. As my father is a muggle, he cannot have obviously magical items around. This project was riddikulusly easy. I simply used a sticking solution to affix the push pins to the backs of 20 tiles. I just had to wait the appropriate amount of time for the sticking solution to set (glass glue is much more effective than hot glue, even though it takes longer to cure. I have so many tiles left over; I may make him matching coasters.
The project link shows the other half of the gift I made, but that wasn't for a class.

12  Message eyechart and tile push pins for dad in Father's Day by AllyCatAria on: June 17, 2012 10:48:43 PM
Hi all! I thought I'd post here what I did for Father's day.

It's so simple, but I have the hardest time crafting for guys, I thought others might enjoy this really quick craft.

First I used these tiles I found at the hardware store. They are pretty and shiny and in neutral shades of brown and tan. I simply glued push pins to the back so he could use them in his home office. I made 20 pins, and I still have so many left over tiles, I may make him matching coasters later on. The flash causes the pins to show through the tile, but you can't see them in person. I tried hot glue, but I thought glass glue provided a stronger, longer lasting hold. However, the curing time is longer.

I also made him a custom eye chart that he can hang in the office. It's nice because it's not overtly crafty, and it has a hidden message. I got the idea from here.

The message is "Unforgettable though near or far" from the song "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole.

To top it all off, I made a card that's a copy-cat from one I saw on pintrest here.

Overall, nothing really original, but I like how everything turned out.

I just got my package from Smmarrt in the mail today!! It's awesome!

Here's it all, with some candy she sent me (it was supposed to be for my stocking, but I ate it already):

I put on my list that my favorite shop was florean fortescue's icecream, and she sent me this little mini shop. It's so cute, and it fits over my doorknob. I may keep it in the kitchen though   Smiley

She also sent me this neato little wingardium leviosa frame, complete with feather. It works great, because I have a lot of birds on my Christmas tree. Now my tree has some charm (bad pun? sorry.)

I also got this super cute Luna ornament!

With an awesome eagle on the back. Ravenclaws represent.

And on the sides are Luna/Ravenclaw traits! Resourcefulness, Indivituality, Wit, Wisdom, Intellect, and Creativity.

As an extra, she even sent a cute little handmade notepad, so I can show off my Ravenclaw pride where ever I go!

Thanks so much Smmarrt, for helping me Harrify my tree!

15  How do I get this result? With embossing powder? in Stenciling: Discussion and Questions by AllyCatAria on: January 24, 2011 08:48:58 PM
Hi All,

I hope this is in the right place.

I'm planning on making this:

I'm going to stencil on the design on the inner panel of the skirt, but I really like the effect that she has. How do I get that? Flocking or embossing powder? Something else?

Please help,

Thanks!
