Coming back to post my projects and I see a bunch of awesome projects, but also sad news about Vikki's husband. I read the article and he sounded like such a fun person.

Class/Challenge: Floo challenge - Williamsburg
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Tsebhi Birsen, Eritrean red lentils simmered in berbere
Brief Description: Something inspired by traditions in Africa. I've wanted to make Eritrean food for a while as I still haven't had the chance to try it yet, unlike my son who has eaten it at several of his friends. Because I shared this with my mom I had to reduce the heat, seeing as her stomach can't handle hot food, but it turned out great anyway Cheesy
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Flying
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Fabric "paper bags", sort of
Brief Description:  In order to make these I had to turn them upside down, as well as inside out. I've seen the "paper bags" around on pinterest, and thought that it would be a great option to the zip lock bag I use to keep my son's lunch in one place (even though I tell him not to throw the bags he sometime does because they are sticky, but washing them isn't fun either). I have a lot of fabric that is even older than my son, time to use it! I tried to follow the tutorials, but in the end I went my own way and made them as I wanted, and complicated the pattern a bit as I changed my mind about the the button/string lock to a draw string bag. The bags fit more than his lunch, and I made so many that I most likely use some to store craft supplies or dry food
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Yule term challenge: Welcome Feast Challenge
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Fabric napkins
Brief Description: Using my ancient stash of colourful fabrics I made fabric napkins. They are all the same pattern, just different colour combinations. They are 44cm, and while one side has a pretty flower pattern I added white cotton at the back side.

OMG JS, that SUCKS. it's happened to me as well and it was painful. Hopefully you can easily fix it.

I've managed to complete the final three Halloween challenges, better post them before I head to bed now Smiley

Class/Challenge:Alchemy + Halloween challenge "invitation"
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Huginn and Muninn papermache ravens
Brief Description: My son has a yearly christmas party, and for the last three years I've created escape games for the kids, each year more complicated and huge than the year before. Normally I'll do something christmas themed, but this year I'm going Marvel, and for Thor's challenge they will have to find Huginn and Muninn for their next challenge, so of course I decided I needed to make the birds. This fits the requirements because in order to make paper mache pulp (which I used to cover the foil and tape armature) you need to use water. I used this recipe, but instead of toilet paper I used newspaper
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge:Yule holiday challenges - Halloween + Halloween challenge "costumes"
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Cosmo costume
Brief Description: I've been occupied with a lot of real life stuff, but I still can't buy a costume, I HAVE to make it, but it had to be easy to make. Here are the important parts for the costume for Cosmo from Fairly Odd parents. White shirt, tie, wings, crown and wand. I forgot to add the green hairspray in the picture. I made the crown and wand, but because I didn't have a band I had to improvise how to make the crown float above my son's head. This method only works on slightly longer afro hair, which he certainly has, just put it on the head and twist it around so the ends gets stuck in his hair, and because it's so light weight he even forgot he had it in his hair.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge:Halloween challenge "music"
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Earrings
Brief Description: Currently my favourite song is Silver lining by First Aid Kit. The use of instruments and their voices just gives me an amazing feeling, it just calms me down and makes me happy, other things that make me happy is colour, and I decided to make marble earrings with silver in them. Sadly the silver didn't show as much as I would like it to but I'm still happy with the result. I've seen these geometric earrings all over pinterest and wanted to make some myself, so it was a perfect timing.

I hope that as soon as some personal goals of mine are complete I have more time to both craft and be here where all the awesome crafts are happening. So many pretty things with yarn and beads and clay and so on, it's so inspiring Cheesy

Also, two of the photos are acting strange, no idea what's wrong but I'm going to leave it like that

Class/Challenge: DADA + Halloween lighting + love to do list
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: The little prince decoration
Brief Description: Finally finished this after almost forgetting about it (only need to find the right kind of string to use in order to hang it up), the Little Prince and his rose sitting on the moon. I wanted to make this for my son after we watched the movie together. We both loved it and bought the book, and eventually well find the show, love such silly fantasy stories. This was made for a family member, it is the moon and its on my to do list
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Floo challenge Munich + Halloween decorations
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Beer chilli with creepy sausage fingers - Recipe for the chilli
Brief Description: Ive made sausage octopus before, but I wanted to make sausage fingers now. My friends and some family members thought it was creepy, they had also never seen it before, but then again they dont use pinterest so that doesnt surprise me. The fingers isnt the only special thing about this dish, I made a beer chilli as well. Both my son and I loved this dish, but just a note about the recipe, I felt it lacked seasoning so I added a bunch more until I was happy, and some things not on in their recipe.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Headmistress Pumpkin + Halloween snacks and drinks
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Pumpkin spice latte - Recipe
Brief Description: I dont like coffee, at all (except in chocolate cake that is), but my son loves that stuff. We visited a city which had a starbucks and he saw the Pumpkin spice latte, but I remembered I had seen it on pinterest so I convinced him to try something else and I could make him this. I thought it tasted only coffee, but he said he could taste the pumpkin and spice, so its a success XD And of course being Halloween I decided to use the skull jars we own, way cooler than the cups you get at Starbucks.

Class/Challenge: Floo challenge - Potage's Cauldron Shop Challenge
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Cheesy cauliflower soup
Brief Description: I had some cauliflower and wanted to try out something new, so I tried out this Cheesy Cauliflour soup recipe.. I also wanted to make some rolls and decided to try out this recipe, but I really didn't like the 30 min dinner rolls, maybe someone else likes them.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge:History of Magic
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Strawberry hard candy made with my son
Brief Description: When I was young I was a member of one "after school" club, 4H, if anyone know what that is. I remember we made hard candy, something I wanted to try out with my son.
I bought a candy kit a bunch of years ago, and now that my son wanted to finally make it himself I decided to try it out. While I'm adding the recipe here I would advice that people who had never tried it out to find a kit with instructions, because even with my instructions things did not go well, this is the second attempt and I'm still not happy with it.
1dl water, 450 g sugar, 125 dl dextrose. Boil it until it reaches 162C and then put it on a non stick heat sheet, after about a minute add the powders (we added lemon acid so it would be more sour) and mix with a dough scrape, and once it's mixed together add colour and taste, our recipe called for about 20 drops of each, but the colour sucked so we added way more, but it still didn't work out. Continue mixing with the dough scraper until you can handle it with your hands and can roll out the candy itno a sausage before cutting it into smaller pieces with a sharp scissor.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge:Muggle studies
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Jacke the dog pencil case
Brief Description: My son didn't know where he put his pencil case, and once I gave up trying to find it I thought about buying him a new one, BUUUUT what would be the fun in that? So I decided to make him a pencil case instead, a fun one. And here you have him, Jake the dog from adventure time. Of course not long after I finished it we found his old *boring* pencil case XD

I too worry about being too late when a new challenge is posted, suddenly I worry if the deadline was the day before XD but then I check my notes and realise I should be safe.

Class/Challenge: Floo challenge Tea Break challenge
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Tea time!
Brief Description: I found this three tire plate that is almost as old as my son (he's 10), but I've never used it before, I thought it was finally time to use it.
The lower tire has three different sandwiches, one with mozzarella and tomato, one with cream cheese with herbs and cucumber, and one with ordinary cheese and salami, I loved the cucumber sandwich and my son loved the tomato sandwich.
On the second plate you see scones, I used this simple recipe because we were running out of time and I needed to make something quick. I also made fake clotted cream, which we absolutely loved. The recipe for the cream is found here, and while this is a fake one I will certainly plan to make a real one next time we're having a tea party. I also bought strawberries and raspberries for the scones.
On the top there are carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I hope this won't disqualify my entry but I have no recipe because we bought them. We didn't have much time to make dessert as well so we bought it instead, but to be honest by the time we finished the scones we were full and struggled to eat the cupcakes.
And of course there is no tea party without tea, and if anyone wonders what kind of tea Mrs Potts has it's a chilli, ginger and black pepper tea, it's the favourite of my son's and I.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Iron chef Hogwarts - Cinnamon
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Cinnamon rolls
Brief Description: I know, it's not original, personally I had something else in mind, but then my son requested cinnamon rolls so I changed my plans. Here is a link to the recipe I used. The only change I made was to switch half of the sugar in the filling with white sugar (because I didn't have enough brown sugar), and I added apple bites to half of the rolls. I caramelised the apples in a little butter and sugar until they were soft.

Class/Challenge: Iron Chef horseradish
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Horseradish sauce with roasted garlic.
Brief Description: I have never tried horseradish before, but this recipe sounded good https://stripedspatula.com/roasted-garlic-horseradish-cream-sauce/
The beef was I think tenderloin filet, this recipe helped me figure out what to do https://www.floatingkitchen.net/how-to-cook-the-perfect-filet-mignon/

Overall I liked the sauce, but I didn't like the strong horseradish taste so I ended up adding more sour cream, which I think made it way better. I also added a bunch of tomato and cucumber.

"Funny" story, if  your kid is someone who isn't afraid to smell things without knowing what it is make sure the newly chopped horseradish in a jar that he can open and take a deep sniff of within 3 seconds, according to my son he nearly died, which I believe because the smell is so strong. I have now promised him that I will never buy horseradish again.

Apparently I can't get the photo to behave, I've given up now seeing as it's late

Class/Challenge: Floo powder Weasley's Wizard Wheezes
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Mario mushroom earrings
Brief Description: These were actually the first I made, I wanted a pair of easy and silly mushroom earrings Cheesy Made out of miniature hama beads, love those things.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Floo powder Weasley's Wizard Wheezes
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Darth Vader earrings
Brief Description: I made a pair out of the mini hama beads, but they were a bit too big I thought, so I made another pair but I still think they are slightly too big, maybe I'll try making an even smaller version in the future, but I'm happy with how they've come out

7  Re: Shake Your Groove Thing Geezer Swap, Round 8 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by imera on: September 23, 2019 12:12:12 AM
Finally I'm feeling better and can do the tiny things which were put on hold. I picked up the package from craftADDchick last week, and I must say, I'm loving it!

She apologised that it wasn't professional looking, something I really don't care about because it's amazing on so many levels.

I wanted something to hold me warm indoors, I wanted socks, shawl, blanket... I wasn't certain what I would get, only that it would be one of my requests. When I first got the package I still didn't know what it could be, well, I was certainly it wasn't a pair of socks because the box was too big for only one pair, either that or she didn't find any smaller box...

When I saw it was a quilt I was so excited! I love quilts but don't have any and haven't tried making one myself. As I unpacked it even more I was even more shocked. Somehow she had made me think it would be a small one for the lap or something like that, sneaky sneaky, but the size shocked me! OMG it's so huge, I didn't even know how to take a photo of the whole thing. It's so tall that when I held it up it was a head size away from reaching the ceiling (most "normal" houses in Norway aren't high ceiling). It was so long, and amazing, and pretty, and I love the colours! Can't remember what I wrote as my favourite colours but blue and yellow are my absolute favourites (maybe yellow slightly more).

That day I was so mentally exhausted that even though I wanted to share just what an amazing blanket I had received I ended up laying down on my sofa and napping for a few hours, with the blanket of course. I know it won't keep me warm if it's super cold here as it tends to be, but as long as it doesn't get too horrible cold this is the blanket I will use (and even if it's cold I can always add it on top of the wool blankets). I've already used it every day, because it's so pretty and it makes me happy.

Ok, enough chatting, here you get to see the amazing quilt. I haven't measured the thing but my bed is 150x200 cm, and if the converter isn't completely wrong that is about 59x78.7 inches, as you can see it's slightly shorter on the sides, but it falls over the edge on the longer side.

I'm trying to get back into the habit of being in craftster more often, as it's one of my happy places, but it's hard with the current real life stuff that is going on. I'm happy to see so many new projects Cheesy I have more projects that are done/almost done but this one is the only one I know that has a deadline XD

Class/Challenge: Headmistress challenge: Sword of Gryffindor
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Wishing board
Brief Description: In order to show my son that our wishes do come true (he simply forgets what he wanted in the first place) I decided to make a wishing board by decorating the old cork board with stripes, then painting the border gold and adding silver glitter words (which I had to cut out by hand as I do not own any fancy machine) and then I decorated the sign with thumbtacks. It has silver and it's bejewelled, sort of at least.

I'm sorry for the late posting of the awesome coins I received. Two of the envelopes came when I was on a vacation, the last one came shortly after I returned. Sadly my ex has been occupying my time until today, but now I can finally post the pictures of the lovely coins.

geekgirl1000100 sent me these awesome cards Cheesy My favourite has to be the "I am fabulous" because it made me giggle.

Smmarrt sent me so much, an extra coin and stickers etc, you naughty girl, but I do love the extras. Sadly I didn't take a picture of them but there are some Harry Potter stickers and a few tickets. I think my favourite was the Dracula one, really love the pink background, but I think I'm using the bird coin as my motto for a few months.

And here you see SonjaBoo's cards. I think they are all great but the cats made me giggle, Me Yow! XD yes, I love animals in clothes/humanoid animals and silly sayings.

So many great projects so far Cheesy  I really love the miniature painting, anything miniature is wonderful I think.

I've been slightly occupied so far this summer, mostly with work, and family, but shockingly (at least for me) I've managed to do some things. Of course I've saved several of the projects for a larger "dump", because I forget to post it once it's ready.

Class/Challenge: Alchemy
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Tools stand
Brief Description: I have a lot of cardboard tubes from work, because I don't want to throw them away. I also had this metal plate that used to have a lot of small metal pots on which were used to grow herbs in, but they died/dried up and so I was left with the plate. Not wanting to throw it away I thought it was a perfect plan to use it as the stand for the tubes. All the tubes are covered in cute gift paper that I bought ages ago from ikea in a book form.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Detention Reparo challenge
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Alter pilot costume
Brief Description: One of my sisters loves to cosplay with her friends, but her sewing skills aren't the best so she often comes to me to get help. She bought a "small" pilot uniform, which fits my mother who is a large. My job was to alter the costume so it had a good fit on her extra small body, which I think we managed to do. She will cosplay Eva from Metal Gear if anyone wonders about which character wears a pilot costume
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Floo challenge Knockturn Alley
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Wicked Witch of the West paper cutting
Brief Description: She might not be my favourite villain, mostly because it's too hard for me to pick my favourite. However, I've wanted to make something like this for a long time, and this challenge was the perfect excuse to do it now rather than later.
Picture:

Class/Challenge: SoAR
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link:  A6 doodle books
Brief Description: Two identical doodle books, which I'm giving away to twins who both liked the pattern and the idea of getting a hand made book. I haven't binded a book in ages and thought it was fun to do it again, but still slightly hard.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Quidditch up: Don Your Colors
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Blue and copper paper earrings
Brief Description: I was making the other earrings and chose to make a pair of Ravenclaw coloured inspired earrings, I do like the way they turned out. For some reason I can't get the image the right direction, so here you have a sideway image of me holding the earrings.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Quidditch up: Warm Up
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Grey and orange paper earrings
Brief Description: My most comfprtable medium is paper and cardboard. I painted the grey and orange paper last year during the last Quidditch season, but I never got a chance to use it for anything because I started a new job. I still love the pattern and chose to finally make the earrings this year.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Quidditch up: Practice Shots
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Random paper earrings
Brief Description: I have certainly made this many times before, and I will not stop making them. Here you see the rest of the earrings I made, which I loved making. Different colours and shapes.
