11  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Funky V-Day cards on: January 27, 2011 11:10:33 AM
Back before I became bitter about V-day (I got a shoe organizer.  'Nuff said), I used to love the whole grade school tradition of exchanging cheapo drugstore valentines.  The designs  never really suited my odd personality even as a 3rd grader, and they always had the most ridiculous sayings.   I loved, and still love, the idea though!

This year, I was determined to make cooler valentines for my kiddo to pass out, but they sort of morphed into the realms of maybe not so appropriate for third graders.  haha!  The originals are ATC-sized and done in ink and watercolor then scanned and set up for printing 8 per sheet.

If you can't read them:
1)  Love is pain.  Diamonds help.
2)  My emotional sensors are overloaded.
3)  Be mine... or I may eat you.
4)  My heart is yours.

You can download a pdf from My Website if you want to print some of your own!  (There are also other downloadable valentines there too!)
12  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Chain stitch around edge?? on: March 08, 2010 11:44:52 AM
In Creepy Cute Crochet, a few of the patterns say to chain stitch around the edge.  This totally baffles me as I picture chaining as something that doesn't connect to the work at all.

I'm looking at the Knight pattern (if you have the book, page 75) and it says:
Row 1: Ch 23, cl st to close round.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc around, sl st to close round.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc 9, inc, sc 11, inc, clean fasten off.
Switch to size 1 hook and charcoal-colored yarn.  Chain stitch around wrong side of lower edge.

I feel like an idiot not being able to figure out wtf that means.  I keep thinking maybe she means a slip stitch, not a chain.. but I'm totally lost.

Help me find me!
13  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Tiny Tin Man fingerpuppet on: March 01, 2010 10:45:18 AM
I made this fingerpuppet as a stocking suffer for a tinman-loving friend... He was made with silver crochet thread on a size 2 hook.  I asked her to take pictures for me, and I won't tell you which finger she used to model him.  haha!!  His eyes and heart are needle-felted, and his poor hat has erectile dysfunction.  Sad.

Thanks for lookin! Cheesy
14  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Creepy little 5x7s on: February 22, 2010 01:59:04 PM
Hi hi!  Come, take a walk with me through my weird little brain... Wink  These are all 5x7, done in colored pencil on black matboard with twinkling H2Os and white acrylic.  And strange little blurbs of text.

"Pray"

"Fallen"

"Disappear"

"Dance"

Thanks for lookin!
15  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Needles in my eye! Hook holder on: February 04, 2010 02:08:09 PM
I just started crocheting a few months ago and found myself in the constant dilemma of digging around my messy table for needles, as you'll see in the pictures below, messy messy!, crochet hooks ending up everywhere, and never being able to find a stitch marker when I needed one (or my 2-year-old daughter running off with them), so I decided to make myself a cup for my hooks.  This one sort of came out on its own, out of my obsession with black and white stripes and pointy things.

Plus a needle holder shaped like an eyeball just seemed to be extra horrible.  (the iris is needle felted):

The whole shebang:

Just the vessel/cup thingie (with stitch markers hanging off the spikes):

And look how many hooks it holds!  Freakin fabulous!

Mostly RHSS, the eyeball is done in peaches & cream for the felting factor.

Thanks for looking!
16  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / I'm new and dazed and confused on: July 21, 2009 08:13:05 AM
Wow there are a lot of different areas for stuff, I'm hoping I'm posting this in the right spot.

These are "skinny pages" (3 x 7) done for a swap on another site with Text as the theme.. mixed media on bristol (collaged rippy bits background, hand drawn and then collaged tattooey stuff and mythological characters.  I'm not sure really what ties it all together aside from my muddled brain!)

Medusa - Envy:

Aphrodite - Lust:

Poseidon - Wrath:

Thanks for looking! Cheesy
