1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Fruit and vegetable browning????? HELP!!! on: January 12, 2011 06:34:53 PM
I know apples and bananas brown when exposed to air, and that lemon juice can help, but what about radishes, cucumbers, carrots, green onions, broccoli, cauliflow#r, pineapples, melons, strawberries, grapes, tomatoes? Im making edible arrangement style bouquets for my wedding and id like to cut  Embarrassedas many of the fruits and vegetables as possible the day before.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / My completely DIY wedding adventure becomes ever more treacherous on: January 04, 2011 12:03:45 AM
So this will be my wedding thread, and it will be updated obsessively...

5 months, $3000, 150 guests...
but wait! It gets even better! We are now expecting our first bundle of joy!

So our wedding will no longer be in May 2011, but will have to wait until he returns home from deployment, so Sept or Oct 2012. Which lets me relax a little.

Is it possible? Maybe. Will it be disastrous? Probably. Will it be fun? Definitely!!!

We have my DRESS!!!! Which took my planned very informal wedding to a formal one so fast it left my head spinning. It fit like a glove, no alterations needed, pre-pregnancy, might need to get the zipper replaced with a corset back or something. now

The ceremony venue! Maybe.... Hope we can get the deposit back, lol
Triple white with orange curd filling, yum yum. Sounds even better to me now.

whoo!whoo! By nixing the bridesmaids flowers I saved enough money to hire a decent dj!
We're having a "wedding tree" as an alternative to guestbook (just waiting on my artistic husband to get off his butt and paint me a gorgeous, many-branched tree (with our initials "carved into the bark!")
Anakin/Padme cake toppers. We  chose them for 2 reasons: 1)My dh is a HUGE Star Wars nerd and 2) Anakin and Padme were also secretly wed (which is the real reason)

We have several ideas:

3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Pumpkin "guts" on: October 29, 2010 02:03:31 PM
Is there anything useful to do with the stringy pumpkin "guts?"  Huh About to carve our jack o' lantern and bake some pumpkin seeds and was just wondering if this part was in some way useful...
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / My first sewing project! EVER! on: July 27, 2010 09:38:11 PM
Long time lurker, first time poster. I just got my first sewing machine, and I really wanted to make something. I remembered the home ec kids all making pj pants in jr high so I thought I might as well try. These took about an hour to make. I know they are nothing special and actually pretty badly done, but I'm proud of myself so please bear with me. Ignore the dates, they are incorrect.

I have had these pjs since 2002, they were icky and old and way stretched out so they needed chunked anyways. Thought I could use them as a pattern. I ripped all the seams, then pinned them to my fabric and traced.

This is before the elastic. AW, CLOVERS! I am a very modest person, so these are knee length and pretty baggy for movement, as this material had no stretch and I have a a booty, hips, and thighs. Smiley

The legs are together a bit here, so they look very short and wide, compared to what they are. I did have a glitch (no surprise) so they are slightly.... off. Not too upset, this is a trial and error kinda thing
